Merrell is turning out to be my favorite brand of hiking boot, as I have two already and I've tried on several other brands and none seem to be as comfortable and stable as these. The tops have just enough give around the ankles to be supportive and stable without being too constrictive. They run very small, though! I wear a 9 in most shoes and 9 1/2 in some boots and 1 pair of Merrells. I have another pair of Merrells that also "run small" -- these are a 10 because I always want room for a sneaker insole to give the footbed more padding. So I ordered this pair in a 10 as well, BUT it's still too small with the insole! So I'll be returning for a 10 1/2. It's worth it to get the extra padding of the sneaker insert, though, as Merrells are very durable over the years but don't exactly feel like a sneaker.

I've been looking for something along this style for awhile to replace an older pair of Skecher hikers (no longer sold). I followed other review recommendations and ordered a full size larger than my usual size. The fit is perfect. These do not have a lot of support and are not "cushy" inside, but they will work fine for me.

Appreciate good advice from other reviewers. I ordered two pairs, one in my my usual size and one a half-size up, since reviewers mentioned that the boots ran small. The larger size was the right one. Like it that they're leather, and also not heavily padded around the ankles, but padded enough.

Having worn and loved Merrell hiking boots in the past, I was looking forward to receiving these. Pros: It appears to be a sturdy, well-made boot with Vibram soles which for me last the longest. Yes, Vibram can be slippery on wet surfaces if not roughed up first (I think the manufacturers may spray their waterproofing on the entire boot, soles included?) Cons: These (and it's not just Merrell....it seems that all hiking boots are now made in Asia with a much smaller foot size in mind). I normally wear a size 10 Narrow shoe. But I guess that makes me a size 11 in hiking boots. Not easy to find......and an 11 in length usually means it will probably be too wide. The other thing is that the laces are both round and short. Flat and long is what I prefer, especially given that I have a narrow foot and must compensate by being able to easily lace my boots tighter. These may make that difficult. Lastly, I read a lot of reviews complaining about waterproof boots not being waterproof. This has always baffled me since it's so easy to just buy a bottle of waterproofing spray such as Kiwi and apply a couple of coats once a year (I do this on my rain jackets as well as the stuff they put on it doesn't last forever, and my rain jackets last MUCH longer). I have trudged through streams and have never gotten my feet wet doing this.

These are high quality boots, loved the style and the thick leather. And they fit true to size, seemed very comfortable. Unfortunately, the top part of tongue was hitting at the front of my ankle at every step in a painful way, so I had to return them, which was a pity.

I have the Siren Edge 3 in 7.5 & wanted the mid-rise for better ankle support. I ordered an 8 and they are still too small. 8.5 not available, so I'll waitist them.

Thought they a size 6 was delivered in error. Way too small for a 7 1/2

I have been happily wearing Merrill’s for many years. In a sport hiking shoe I usually wear a 7 and a half or 8. I ordered an 8 and sent them back because they were too small. So, I ordered an 8 and a half. (The first time ever in my life to order that size.) I received the shoes promptly. I’m keeping them but have to warn that they have a very low toe box. I have the shoe tips stuffed, trying to stretch them. Also, this pair arrived with some scratches. The soles were clean, so I kept them.
