I used the size chart while buying online. The size chart was very thorough. I received the jacket and wore it once. I noticed the sleeves were slightly tight in the shoulders. When I bent down to put my boots on the jacket felt slightly tight and a bit stiff. I would have exchanged the jacket for a slightly bigger size, although it was sold out when I looked on the website again.

This is a great coat! I wish it would have worked for me. I am 5'3 and found the coat to look silly. I wish they had this in an XXS and it would have been great

I bought the outer boroughs parka instead of a Canada Goose and I am sorry. The front zipper sticks so I nennd to repeatedly work at zipping it, the sleeves are long with the biggest problem the inner mitten part, that takes me minutes to push my arms all the way through, it feels very bulky and heavy, and the magnet fasteners stuck to other magnet objects. I'm small 108 and 4'10" . I bought this coat after reading all the praises and high marks it had as keeping warm and comfortable.

Everything is perfect except the goose down come out from inside, for this price I think they need better quality.

Overall, this is a really great jacket. The material is high quality, the fur on the hood is soft and full, and the lining is really warm. The makeshift gloves attached to the sleeves are a plus. However, this jacket is not made with all body types in mind. It fits best for someone tall and slim. I have a petite frame and an hourglass shape. The torso of the jacket fits perfectly, even without the adjustments at the waist. The sleeves are absurdly long which is a bummer because it's hard to have a down jacket tailored and you can't roll up sleeves on a jacket like this. I wish North Face offered different sizes: petite, tall, curvy, etc. Other companies do and this seriously leaves an otherwise exceptional brand in the dust. I wouldn't recommend this jacket unless you are 5'9 or above and slim.

The design and style of this parka is the best I have seen. I bought the S size. Absolutely enjoyed wearing it. It's warm, comfortable and most of all it has a waist adjustment that makes you look more stylish than a regular parka. It also has mittens you can use in case you forgot gloves. And also higher additional pocket to stick your hand in for warmth. Love these features. But but but... after 2-3 days of use, the down feathers started to come out. Not just little, there were 5 big feathers stuck to my sweater which I noticed after taking the jacket off. Thankfully I had the tags still on, I was able to return it with this complaint. For a $500 jacket I will definitely not want the feathers coming off at this rate. Now, for the rest of the winter, I don't have a heavy jacket because I liked the design of the outer boroughs parka so much that I don't seem to like any other jacket. Will wait for North face to improve the quality keeping the same design.

I really loved this jacket I ordered it in the an extra small ( it's regular fit, not a slim fit) as I am very petite 5'1, 105 lbs, 32c and currently 3 months pregnant (but I am not showing at all.) The sleeves are perfect but the mittens are too small. Also, when I try to zip it up it won't zip up all the way. Lastly the zipper quality just sucks! I ordered a size up (small) and that's just too big I look like I'm swimming in it. As much as I loved the comfortability, feel and look I just had to return both of them. I may try the Gotham next.

I wish I could make this coat work for me because I truly love the style and it's very warm, but the fit is not for an adult woman with hips. I wear a large in all the coats and jackets I own, and this coat is too tight around certain areas, especially hips. I went ahead and purchased the x-large but after bringing it home realized it looks enormous on me, and just does not fit nicely. It's like I'm in between size large and x-large which does not exist. This is a women's coat but not made for a woman...so very disappointed since I wanted this coat so badly! I've noticed this with many of NF clothing, just not made with women bodies in mind.

I love this coat but it was not designed for hips! I normally wear a medium but I ordered a size up because I wanted to be able to layer and it's too snug to even zip. The sleeves run a little long so if I were to order a size up (again) I think it would be enormous. It's unfortunate since it is a women's coat, it really should be designed for women!

I love this warm coat but it does restrict my arm movement which i find super annoying because the coat was so expensive. The shoulder construction just does not allow me to bring my arms forward completely. I normally wear a small or medium, I bough medium and returned it for a large hoping to solve that issue, but alas the coat still feels small in the shoulder, even in large.

This was exactly the kind of coat I was looking for for the cold New England winters. I got the dark grey in both a Medium and a Large and LOVE everything about this coat except that the Medium is my "true fit" except for the chest area (I am a size 8 & a DDD cup). I don't know why this coat has to be so restrictive around the chest!! I'd have to wear it with a very think sweater to be able to zip it up. I'd have no problem going to a Large but it was wayyy too big and baggy for me all around. Sadly will have to return :(

The material of this coat is terrific. You can tell it is very high quality and will keep you warm on frigid days. I love how long the sleeves are as that can be a problem area for me. I am 5'9", I weigh 130 lbs and I would say my body shape is fairly athletic and proportionate. I originally ordered this coat in a small and from the waist down it fit great. The arms also fit nicely. However, it was very tight in my underarms and across my chest. I sent it back and ordered a medium. I was so disappointed when I tried it on as the underarms and chest then fit well but from the waist down it was like a big bell. This coat work work well for someone who has a small bust, narrow shoulders and bigger hips/legs.

This is a beautiful jacket. It's tapered so you actually look feminine in it. It's one of the few winter jackets that give you a nice fitted waist, but the chest area is really tight. I am a relatively small woman. I'm a B cup and this jacket is still restrictive in the chest area. I can't imagine how it would fit for anyone bigger than that. If you go up a size the jacket just makes you look like your getting lost in it.

I'm an elementary teacher and I was looking for a warm long coat for our northern Canada winters and recess supervision. The coat is nice and long (I'm 5'10") and the material is durable. However, the long puffer coat from the North Face I had before was much warmer. This hood doesn't stay up nicely and the wind blows through the snap holes that keep the fur on. It's more narrow in the shoulders and very wide on the bottom so wind would blow up the coat. Also, very disappointed that the colour faded very badly after 4-5 months worth of 15 minute supervisions - once a day, 5 times a week. The pockets are all still dark, under the hood and under the arms is dark and you can see where the fading is uneven all around.

I was so excited to try this red parka out today and I stupidly wore a white shirt and my canvas purse. Everything is now pink, dyed from this jacket, in less than 30 minutes. I am so upset and now have to figure out if this dye can even be removed from my canvas purse! This is really disappointing from TNF and not something I thought I've had to worry about. The parka itself is fine but how can I wear this without ruining my clothes?

The hood and the bell shape of the jacket didn't suit me. I ended up exchanging for TNF Snow Down Parka, which I love.

I bought it for my wife. She complained about two things; first it didn't have chin guard and it was disturbing when zipped up. Second; somehow cold air was coming into the backside. So we had to return.

Given as gift and recipient requested return. Slender female reported arm openings cut high and tight. Jacket pinched armpit. Just can't be worn. Styling is nice. Material is nice. Weight to warmth ratio good.

Not for women with hips and thighs. I am 5"1" and you would think this is the biggest crime on earth. Huge on top, too tight on hips and thighs. in a size medium

I love the look of this coat but the Velcro is very loud and sticks to itself unintentionally. It's also loud and scratch when worn. The zipper opens from bottom when being worn.

Very heavy and warm. Returned due to strange fit. I am 5'4 120ish and the small was very big. The sleeves were comically long and the bottom of the coat flared out too wide. Much larger than a typical 'small' fit. Super bummed because it felt like a quality jacket. Sent back 20 days ago and still no refund. Disappointed in this purchase.

The fur part of the hood is detachable, BUT beware that if you take it off, the regular hood does not cover your head completely. So the idea you can take the fur off is kind of a joke. However, when you leave the fur on, the buttons detach just about every time you try to put the hood on! You also have big holes in the hood because of the buttons attaching the fur. I will probably have mine sewn on, but then you can't machine wash anymore. Also the sleeves are comically long. Will need to alter them so I don't look like a bag lady. Finally, if you run cold like me, you will be disappointed at the warmth level. I'm keeping it just for days when snow is coming down and I can't wear a regular wool coat. I think I will be okay with it after I spend some money on alterations
