I am a size 16 and got the extra large, and it fit great everywhere, except the upper arms were super tight. I ended up having to exchange it for a double XL, which is way too big in the body, but fits in the arms. I'm not sure why the arms have such a slim fit. I could wear a sweater underneath it and layer, but then I wouldn't be able to reach anything I front of me and could only move my arms from the elbow down.

I didn't love the fit of this coat. I agree with other reviewers who note the arm holes are cut too small. I'm 5'5" 126 lbs and the arms/shoulders were too constrictive to be comfortable. The rest of the coat was large, almost too large, so overall I think the proportions are off on this coat. I wear a small in other TNF slim fit coats like the Metropolis but not this coat (which is supposed to be relaxed fit). Return. :(

I'm between a S and M (36-30-42) and have tried all this year's coats. I needed something very warm for time spent standing still outside, I wanted it to be mid-thigh or close to knee, and it had to accommodate my large hips compared to smaller upper half. For the New Outerboroughs, the small was too tight to wear with thick winter pants (a must for me), and the medium was simply way too big overall. It definitely felt warmer than the Arctic and Snow Down Parkas though. (I went with the McMurdo Expedition in the end - best fit for my build in S, and very warm.)

I found the XL jacket to be too big for me. I was concerned about it being too tight around the bust or hips as some other buyers mentioned but I found myself drowning in the long sleeves and overall bulk. I wasn't a fan of the microfiber outer material since it will show anything brushing up against it like road salt from your car exterior. I saw another review poster mentioned not getting stains out easily and I see why. I decided to send the jacket back since it was just too big.

I purchased this coat specifically for every day wear during extremely cold, snowy, rainy, windy winter conditions in northern Massachusetts. I would say in general it runs slightly large, but I prefer a little extra room in this style of coat so I can throw it on over layers or over bulky sweaters. I'm 5'3" and it hits just above my knees. I would love to find a parka for shorter people, but the double zipper is helpful to still provide mobility by unzipping the bottom zipper when needed. The one reason I've given this parka 3 stars is because of the hood. It seems perfectly fine until actually moving around in the coat, and I cannot get it to stay in place and cover my entire head no matter how much I tighten the drawcord or reposition it. Because of the design, when moving around at all, the hood falls back, rather than staying forward and downward. My forehead and front section of hair is fully exposed, so I have to physically hold it down. This is super disappointing considering buying this coat specifically for winter snow, wind and rain and because it's waterproof. I consider a proper hood essential in a good winter & waterproof coat. I removed the tags after trying it on in front of a mirror and my first time wearing it I realized how non-functional the hood is, so now I'm stuck with a very expensive coat that doesn't meet one of the biggest needs and reasons for purchasing it. If the hood was designed better, this coat would be nearly perfect but unfortunately I will likely have to purchase another coat to meet the needs and purpose of use I need it for.

It was very boxy. Not very flattering, but warm.

A bit bulky. My regular size was too large and the smaller size was just a tiny bit too small but the weight of the coat with some thing that I didn't care for it just was too heavy.

Very cute but a bit bulky, and tight fitting at the shoulders. Also not quite as wind proof as I would expect from TNF.

The coat is stylish and the red color is very nice, but I wish it came in petite sizes. The sleeves (even on the XS coat) were way too long, so I had to return it.

This coat is SO WARM. I live in WI and it gets very cold. Warmth was my #1 goal. But the wind travels up and it is not long enough. I am only 5'3 and it hits above my knees making my entire upper body toasty warm and my knees/legs ice cold. I bought a SMALL because I read the shoulders were tight. An XS would have fit my lower body better but would have been too tight in the upper body. The hood is....very wrong. It barely covers my cheeks when it is pulled up. It seems like there is not enough material for the hood to actually function properly. It is also very tight to pull up over my head. For the price...I think this is not a great value. I got it for half off so I am very happy with the price for value outcome for me but I would not recommend paying full price.

I really wanted to love this parka. I ordered an XL based on the reviews saying it was tight in the shoulders. I wish I would have ordered a L because it's just too big and bulky everywhere. The sleeves are way too long and the top of the jacket feels like it's always in my face. It also doesn't have much shape. I used the 50% off healthcare coupon which was great but now there are no sizes left in any color I'd consider exchanging for. I'll probably just end of keeping this oversized parka as it was a great deal.

Fits great everywhere but the shoulders. Feels fine when arms are straight down at side but as soon as I move my arms (reaching for something, driving, putting them in my pockets) it's super tight and I feel super restricted-this is just with a t-shirt under so it's not as though I have a thick hoodie on under it. I'm very disappointed, I buy north face products often and was super excited about buying a heavier coat from them-I would not recommend this product. Especially for the price, I was expecting much more in terms of craftsmanship.

I really had hoped that the reviews that I read were over critical, but this coat has a terrible cut to it. Fits in the arms, shoulders and chest, WAY TOO BIG in the waist. It's a boxy burlap sack fit, not flattering at all. Material feels great, I wish I did't have to return it.

I was optimistic about this coat. I love the color and fur. It felt huge in the middle, but tight in the shoulders. Wish I could have tried it on first.

The coat is well made. That being said it is a relaxed fit and not flattering whatsoever. I got a small and I should've gotten an extra small. I like the amount of pockets, especially the sleeve pocket. I would recommend trying this on in store before purchasing, as you don't want to have any regrets...

I had to return it. As other reviewers have commented, the shoulders are cut small. I am typical a solid medium in all North Face jackets, coats and tops. The shoulders were too restrictive. A larger size would have been too big in the hips. The cost is very heavy and stiff, but seems very warm. The urban navy is a really great color! Side note, I compared this to the defdown. The defdown had no shape/tailoring.

I was so looking forward to receiving the jacket. I love the way it looks, very stylish for a super warm parka. Love the style, the feminine hourglass shape with belt. Unfortunately, the shoulder and arm sections are weirdly tailored. I am petite and proportionate (this means that I have normal sized arms and shoulders :) ) but this parka just doesn't fit right in the shoulders and upper arms. Normally, I am size S so I tried M but that didn't help either. If they could design it with a little more room in arms in shoulders it would be perfect. For a coat of this price I expect more comfort. So sad to have to return this coat!

This coat is very fashionable and flattering, however, I wish they had made more adjustment options for the belt. There is plenty of room in the coat for there to be "one notch" looser. Unfortunately, there are only two snap options for adjustment and is just a tad snug around the middle only because of the belt. As someone else mentioned the side pockets are low for hands but hands can easily go in top pockets with the flap in a comfortable position. The coat is very heavy to lift but once it is put on, it doesn't feel terribly bulky for heavy winter coat. I haven't tried it in weather yet but feels high quality and waterproof material. Two days after I purchased this, it went on sale and I called and was refunded the difference. Otherwise I would have returned because of the belt issue. The coat is very flattering and fashionable with super fun hood, will keep.

The jacket was very comfortable and true to size; however the placement and size of the pockets didn't work well for me. I'm 5'3" and about 125 pounds and didn't find the pocket placement to be very comfortable. The jacket also flared out a little on the bottom making me appear wider.

I absolutely love the weight, feel, construction, details and color of this coat, however, I wear a lot of black clothes and when I take this coat off, I have to pluck a lot of down off!

I ordered a medium and it was way too restrictive. I would have tried a large because it is definitely a nice coat but my store doesn't have this product. I decided to go with the defdown coat but it is heavier than what i am accustomed to.

I bought this jacket in a size small, which is my true size in just about everything I wear. This jacket was way too tight through the chest, armpits, and arms. I could hardly move my arms up and down, and I knew that issue would only be worse if I was layering underneath. The jacket fit well everywhere else. When I went to return this in store, I tried on the medium for comparison. As I expected, it fit in the arms but swallowed me everywhere else. The proportions of this parka are definitely confusing and didn't work for me at all. I ended up getting the Defdown park and the fit is way better.

This is a very warm jacket. It's true to its size. I ordered xsmall first because I'm a petite person but it was too tight around the shoulders so I had to order small which is a good size for me. I had a bad experience exchanging the xsmall to a small because Northface doesn't have any exchange policy so I had to pay again for the Small size. Customer service representative was not helpful first and second time but When I called third time our issue was resolved. So be careful when ordering.make sure you go to the store and try the size you want.
