Beautiful quality jacket. I decided to splurge on a new winter coat and I'm very happy with the purchase. It's really well made, warm, cozy, and I can't wait to wear it this winter! Only reason for 4/5 stars is it's a little tight around my hip area but I had on 2 layers and a scarf :) definitely recommend this jacket!

I just got this parka and have been wearing it in 35-45 degree windy, wet, and cold weather in Alaska. It is supposed to take the place of my old poofy down parka with the same 550 goose down fill but I am not sure if it will hold up to that coat warmth wise. Regardless, it has been keeping me comfortably warm in the current conditions and is a great wind blocker with the length of the coat, the hood, and especially the mitten cuffs. Hats off to whomever invented the cuffs. The hood seems to stay in place nicely and actually looks cute too, I love the waist band and that it's adjustable. Pockets are great, there are quite a few of them however they are placed outside of the down fill area so they do not provide warmth from your own body or the insulation, except for the protection of the wind. I really love this coat and It is way better than the Arctic Parka II which I exchanged for this coat but I am not sure if it was worthy of the price as far as the warmth goes. I wish I could tell you how it pans out in 20 degrees or 20 below but right now I am so happy to have it and it looks really nice on me. I have a lot of freedom of movement and the adjustable waistband keeps my heat in. It worked great when I fed my horses in the icy wind, taking the dog for a walk, and I was telling myself that I could actually wear this hiking and even snowshoeing. It kept the wind OUT. If it was split in the back it would be absolutely perfect for riding my horse. TNF I would recommend a split in the back for people who ride horses, bikes, motorcycles, etc, that can be snapped shut, to increase the fluff of the down, and for at least some of the pockets to be inside the down insulation. Otherwise this is the perfect parka that looks nice and does it's job too! Even though I am not sure about the warmth the coat provides by itself, it is designed well for layering so I should be able to stay comfortably warm come 25-30 below.

I am 5'5", 114#, 34"-35" chest. Ordered a Small. The coat fits great everywhere except it feels tight under the arms and chest when wearing just a T-Shirt. I recommend ordering up a size if you are Busty. I reordered a Medium, hoping this works.

Great Jacket. Its nice and elegant. Although I ended up going with the Arctic Parka ii, because it offers the same warmth (same goose down fill power) for much cheaper. If you prefer this style over the Arctic it is certainly worth buying.

All round, great, warm and stylish parka. The only drawback is the hood, it's to small and hard to keep in place without zipping all the way up.

Looks well made. Didn't seem to have as much fill as I expected. I ordered XL; have ordered this size before in a goose down coat (which was lost/stolen) and the fit was great; roomy enough to wear a bulky sweater under it. This coat was not roomy enough for anything bulky to be worn under it so I returned it. I did not order a replacement because it was not filled as well as the previous one ( which was similar but no longer available) and have purchased a different coat.

Comfortable and warm. A little tight around the waist and stomach area.

I was really looking forward to wearing this jacket, but it wasn't the right match for me. It's very well made and it looked great before I put it on. The reason I didn't keep it was because it was too bulky and heavy for me to wear on a regular basis. In Northface, I usually need to buy a size up, but in this case the size up was too big. I would have returned it and bought the smaller size if it weren't so heavy.

I love everything about this jacket & really hope it lasts me the next few years!! The fit is wonderful - and although a bit heavy, I knew what I was getting myself into when I bought this. It is very, very warm & I especially love the 'puffed up' neck area that almost acts like a built-in scarf - so I don't need to wear an actual scarf. The front zipper works well, I just find it a little hard to zip sometimes because of the bulk of the jacket (again - I knew what I was getting myself into). GAME CHANGER: The 'convertible storm cuffs' were literally the decision maker between this jacket and another one & let me tell you, it's so worth it! I'm very happy with my jacket & I just pray that it holds up, because I would expect North Face to be the kind of brand that does hold up! Note: The only reason I'm giving this jacket 4 stars vs. 5 is because my bottom pocket zipper was either broken when I purchased it (and I didn't notice) or broke shortly after getting it - and my co-worker bought the same jacket and hers got a hole in the interior armpit after about 4 weeks of wear. Our local retail location did a great job of helping us get new jackets - and so far, so good. It was just disappointing to spend that kind of money on a jacket & have it break/rip.

I'm a lunch & recess supervisor at my kids' school and have to be outdoors from 10:30-2:00 in weather that feels like 5 degrees or warmer. This jacket keeps me so incredibly warm and yet, it does not make me sweat! It's also light enough for me to comfortably move around in it. I especially like the adjustable hood, adjustable side straps, and hidden mittens...it allows me to make modifications based on my needs. The BIGGEST complaint I have is the inner lining. Whoa, it sheds A LOT! We are a TNF family and have never had this much shedding. My dark colored top is consistently covered in white feathers too much to just pick off or brush off. I will be returning this for another in hopes I just received a defective item. I love this coat so much, I hope I don't have a problem with the new one.

This coat is very warm and stylish I got a size XL, I have another coat from a different brand and my XL coat gave me some Xtra room, however this coat fits snug and doesn't give me much room under it to layer up. Still a very nice coat and I would recommend. I live in Boston so the winters can be harass and it's kept me warm and dry so this this season and last season.

I love this coat so far upon trying it on. It was a Christmas gift, so it has to stay in the box wrapped for the next month. However, I used the fit per the northface website, which fitted me as a small. I'm 5'4", 120lbs of somewhat athletic/skinny build (bra size 32D), and found that the length was appropriate everywhere. However, after trying on with both a tshirt, and a crewneck sweatshirt, I felt like I was unable to raise my arms enough to put both hands on the steering wheel. The chest and shoulder area was too tight. I exchanged for a medium and now am able to lift my hands above my head without any issues. I also was unable to wear a scarf or hat with the small size, as the hood was too tight. I do not have this problem with the medium. Can't wait to unwrap at Christmas and really give it a good go.

As someone who rarely leaves reviews, I just wanted to say thank you for the perfect winter coat. Winters in MN that drop to -40F leave me dreading to walk down the street to the store, not to mention spend prolonged periods with the dog, etc. This coat is a perfect cocoon and is easy to move in, plus ALL the pockets for gloves, phones, keys... The fit in the chest/shoulders is a little more snug than what I am used to, but I still preferred an XS to a S, just remember it it a fitted parka when sizing.

I moved to Chicago a couple of years ago and the process of finding a sufficiently warm coat has been frustrating. I saw this one online and then looked went into NF to try it out and I am nothing but happy. I wore it a couple of days ago in mid 20s temps and high wind during my commute and it was wonderful! I am a powerlifter and have fairly broad shoulders and I did find that I had to size up to have enough room in the shoulder and back, which means the waist and leg area looks larger than I would like - this was predicted by the FitFinder so I recommend that using that if ordering online. I bought the Olive color and it is really chic in person, I have gotten a complements already and its only November!

This product is great for winter time especially with heavy snow and wetness. Though it is heavy, it is warm and protective against weather and does its job.

I was very excited about this coat however after receiving it I'm on the fence. Not sure if I like it. When I walk the bottom button makes a noise unless I button it. I'm 5'3 125 and the med might be a tad big. I have hips so I think the small would be too small. The collar is restricting but maybe it time it will loosen up. I walk to work in chicago so i needed something very warm and i def think this coat will do that. Just won't be an everyday coat. I like the hood..Very big and keeps the wind off my face.

I wanted to invest in a long-term parka that I can enjoy for years. This is definitely it. Very warm and light. I can definitely use for regular cold days. I can layer up and use it for extreme weathers or layer down for casual cold weathers. Good for snow and rain also. If I were to say any negative things is that I got a size small and it restricts my movement a bit. But all in all, I love this parka and the color is very stylish too.

I live in northwestern Minnesota, where our cold stretches (our high today is expected to be 9F) are long and the wind is fierce. I was looking for a coat to keep me warm and comfortable for daily dog romps and other outings, and this one offered temperature ratings I looked for, extended length to cover my butt, and extended sizing to cover the rest of me. Unfortunately for me, North Face also seem to be striving for a coat that flatters as much as warms, and I *hate* the shaping on this. I have long since lost my waist, and rather than wishing for additional snaps on the belt to draw it in, I wish it didn't have any belt. The bottom of the coat flares to the point that it admits cold air when you stride; I'd have preferred an interior drawstring at the waist and maybe the bottom. The placement of both sets of pockets is awkward--the lower, patch pockets are down at thigh-level, and the top entry is weirdly tight, while the upper set are too high. The pocket linings feel skeevy, and the "mitten cuffs" are pretty silly. I do appreciate that the cuffs extend past the sleeve of the coat, but the sleeves already extend to my knuckles, and as other users remarked, the seam placement results in a sleeve that cuts into your armpit when you reach forward (although it offers good range of movement when lifting your arm above your head, if that's crucial). I don't care WHAT I would look like while standing on a subway platform, and I wish this coat were a little less concerned with that.

Something about the hood is awkward. It's not as comfortable to wear as the hoods on other jackets I've owned and it's difficult to get a cross-body bag over it. Other than that, it's a great jacket, although I'm not sure it's worth the extra money compared to the Arctic Parka.

This jacket keeps me warm in 10 degree weather and on windy subway platforms in NYC. It's also waterproof and keeps me dry in light showers/ drizzles. The xs is a great fit for petite forms and doesn't look too bulky. My only complaint is that the down feathers pokes through the inner lining and sticks on to whatever you're wearing inside. The feathers are extremely annoying to remove (lint rollers are useless!) and can get quite itchy too. I definitely recommend to wear light colors when wearing this jacket.
