I bought a pair of these to replace an older winter boot - As many reviews do state, order 1 size up. Even at a size up they are a bit snug at first; however, like any shoe/boot it takes some time to break them in.
Living in Wisconsin and having plenty of snow filled activities during the long winter, a great boot is necessary - I believe I found that boot.
Always great products - Thanks North Face!

Tread is awesome, lots of good grip. Boot is high enough to keep snow out of a few inches, but the snow pant ring is a big fat bonus when traveling in deeper stuff. Fit is tight...I recommend a full size or 1.5 sizes up as they run snug. They are toasty, and look great to boot (pun intended). I am a dog trainer so I am out in all sorts of weather 365 days a year in Cleveland. I always tell my dog owners when they complain about the cold "There is no such thing as bad weather, just bad layering. Boot up, and suit up." This boot is consistently part of my winter lineup.
Top shoelace clasp could be a tad looser (it makes a big snapping sound when the shoelace goes in), but it may loosen up with time.

Fits a bit snug but in time they will break in. They look great and appear to be very durable in person.

The shoe keeps my feet warm and are great for walking on snow covered roads.
I had to order a size 11 instead of 9 though. So get at least 1.5-2 sizes bigger than the one you wear.

This is a nice, warm, waterproof boot. After a couple years, though, mine have started to fall apart at the seams.

I bought this to send it to my uncle in Mongolia. Mongolia has very cold winter so this boot will keep his feet warm and dry. Oh and he won't be doing breakdancing on the ice (no slipping) :)

Love the boots, but they run very small. Ordered a half size bigger when I read the reviews, but need a full size bigger.

These boots are extremely warm. Due to the extra padding on the inside these boots run small. You should buy 1 or 1.5 size bigger. I wear a 12 and i bought a 13.

I found these shoes to be well insulated with a nice grip on ice. However, it may be wise to order up at least one full or half size. I normally wear a 10.5 and found the 11 that I ordered still a bit snug at the toe. I anticipate this is due to the amount of insulation and may wear down with time. Overall, a very good winter boot.

the product is very good, keeps me warm and waterproof.
pros: warm, waterproof
cons: expect buying 1 sizer larger, and the boot itself look pretty big and a bit awkward ( too bit to the look )

These are really nice, warm boots and are worth the money. I wear a size 13 and got a size 14.. thought I may need a little bigger but the comfort and tightness helped with skiing and didnt let any coldness in my feet at all.

These boots have an extreme amount of insulation in them. They do keep your feet very warm. The one drawback would be that they run small. I normally wear an 11, so I sized them up a half size. When I received them and put them on they were way to small. Sent them back and bought the size 12. They fit much better. Looking forward to using them for many winters to come.

I should have trusted some of the other reviews on the boot size, but to make a long story short had to send two pairs back. I am a 10.5 and just ended up ordering a size 12!! The boot is very good and I love how North Face stands behind their products, because of that I am very loyal.

My father loved these boots. He works outside in these really cold temperatures. So we decided to get him these boots for Xmas. Although they are quite pricy for work boots, knowing that he is warmer and his feet are comfy is well worth it. Def a good buy. He loves them ! And quite stylish too for work boots I might add. I hate the traditional yellow boot.

Very warm boots, but sizing was a problem. Tried them on at a retail store before I ordered them online. I usually take an 11/11.5, but needed a 13. Ordered a 13 and it was too small. Had to get a 14. Other than that, boot is very comfortable and warm. Let's try making them in the states in the future!!! America!!!

Loved the boots. It kept my feet warm and gave good traction in the snow. I probably got a bad quality one since my boots fell apart after only a few uses. The glue between the rubber and fabric wore off and fell apart in 2 piece.. I only used it when I travel to a snowy destination so the 1 year warranty passed and I couldn't return for the defect.

I needed a snow boot that had some insulation. I moved to a new state where it snows during Winter often. These are a good design and are rugged but run small. I have other TNF hiking boots and shoes and they are both the same size but these were 1/2 size small. I would prefer if the upper was leather.

Purchased this boot to replace a similar (but taller) pair of NF snow boots because the seam failed at the leather/rubber interface and the rubber cracked. This is apparently a known problem with NF boots of this style and construction. I ordered the same size 8.5 (41) and they seemed to fit small when I tried them on. Others reported the boot fitting small as well. I kept them and wore them in the house with a thin pair of socks and determined they did fit, albeit on the small side. Pros: I wore the boots for three days of snowshoeing in Rocky Mountain Nat'L Park and was pleased with the fit and performance. Cons: the top lacing eyelet should have been an open not closed eyelet, when laced to the top the laces are too close to the top of the boot, the insole is not constructed as well as my old NF boots, these are not as warm as my older NF boots.

I have discovered the problem with sizing these boots: I wear a size 11 or 11.5 so I ordered a 12 since lots of reviews say they run small. The 12's were too small so I ordered a pair of 12.5's but they were also too small. I compared the two sizes and found that they are the exact same shoe, the the 12's just had a thicker insole - pretty obnoxious. I now have the 13's. Good luck.

They are good for keepingyour feet warm, but they are too bulky, not to mention that the sizes are very different. I had to change twice and got 3 sizes bigger. They are also heavy, so if you have to walk a lot, they are not a good option.Beautiful designing though.

I have owned these boots for about 5 years, and used it sparsely, for deep snow days and extreme cold travel days. I was very impressed with them and recommended them to everyone until recently the side of the boot (where the leather is stitched to the rubber) just broke open.
I am very surprised. I have had these shoes for 5 years but may be have worn them for 7/8 times and did not do any rough activity ever. If not for the durability I would buy them again. Wish North Face would fix the quality.

Boots run approximately 1 -1.5 size smaller. All my running and dress shoes are a size 10. I ordered a size 10.5 in the NF Chilkat IV boot to provide room for thicker socks. However, wearing dress socks and slipping in the boot pushed heavily against my toes. Reordered a size 11.5 which fit perfect with a ski sock/wool sock.

Ordered a half size bigger and they are still too small and they do not keep your feet warm. Usually quite satisfied with North Face products, but this was a disappointment.
