So these boots don't have the most appealing look but that's not why you buy them. First time I put them on, they felt tight due to all of the thermal cushion around ankle. After one hike I realized how awesome these boots are! They relaxed around the ankle, but still gave exceptional support and comfort and warmth! These are definitely for the snow or cold conditions. They keep your feet warm in below freezing temps with only thin cotton socks (no more need for the extra thick wool or thermal socks! They are waterproof, which is a lifesaver during these extreme hikes! Just so you know better, I was using these to hike a 14er (Mt Quandary) and it's wet in parts below tree line, it's frigid cold near the summit, and it's begging you to twist your ankle when you're using your crampons or snow shoes. I had no problems getting up that mountain with these boots! And if you know your hiking boots, you know you need good "braking" tread on the soles. I've never owned a boot with such good traction! Seriously! I didn't have my crampons or snowshoes on coming down the mountain and I had nearly as good of traction as my girlfriend did, and she was wearing crampons the whole time! I've owned quite a few pairs of hiking boots and by far these had the best brakes I've ever used! Truly unbelievable! Best hiking boot I've ever owned! I will get the summer version of these exact boots, come summer time!

Worst boot I've owned literally just pulled them out of the closet to find that they're completely destroyed from stuff piled on top of them didn't expect the whole boot to be broken literally!!!!!

I've hardly worn these boots and the rubber has already cracked. I have emailed North Face twice about warranty repairs and no one has responded.

Great boot , warm and very well insulated unfortunately too tight . Got it as a gift for my boyfriend his a 8.5 but his feet felt cramped so we will be sizing up .

This is actually a second pair for my son. The first pair were given to him as a gift and rubber part of the boot completely broke apart on both boots the very first time he wore them! I sent them in the North Face Warranty and paid for them to be insured, etc., for an obvious manufacturing defect, only to have them sent back to me with a note saying I needed to provide a receipt. I have never been so disappointed by TNF in my life! It was obvious the boots were in new condition and had a manufacturer defect. If my son hadn't loved them so much, I would have certainly bought a different brand! Luckily, this pair seems to have no problems and he loves them. They work great for ice fishing when they hold together!

So I received these as a gift a few years ago. They were great boots and I used them in both Iceland and St Anton Austria.. Well I was wearing them this week during our mini snowstorm here in PA (USA) and the lower plastic exploded/cracked. It seems really weird to me. I understand they are out of warranty, but if this is the norm, I will have to look for a better quality replacement. The soles were still in great condition, and they were definitely not used to any extreme. Take a look at the pictures and decide for yourself....

I ordered size 9.5 USA Northface M Chilkat 3 winter boots to replace my size 9.5 USA Northface TNF Baltoro HV 200 winter boots that wore out. I was very excited when they arrived only to find that they were much too large measuring 4.75" wide and 13" long compared to my Baltoro's that were 4.5" wide and 12" long. When I tried the Chilkat's on my feet were moving around inside the boots when wearing double socks. I bought these for snowshoeing and I had to return them to Northface for credit. I wear 9.5 shoe and boot size for everything but had never seen anything this big before listed as 9.5. I think that was they sent me is a mislabeled 10.0 or 10.5.

I use this to play in the snow with family. Very basic hiking around, snow ball fights, etc.

Very very warm. Runs a little bit small, but supremely comfortable. The shoes are bulky, but hey, they're winter boots. - I want them to be.

Boots are great and feel sturdy. Only problem is that they run small. Others have written to go half size up but I had to go full size up (usually 10. boots 11)

I'm a letter carrier and these boots are awesome. Keep my feet dry and warm, super comfortable and I put them to the test everyday.

Used as an outdoor boot for watching ski races, shoveling the ice and outdoor walks. Ordered a 1/2 size up for extra room of thicker socks or toe warmers on those really cold days.

Feels good on the feet. Good for casual wear during cold days and nights!

Great boot for snow, ice and any winter condition. Laces are strong. Had them in negative temps through 30F and feet felt great. I wear a 10.5 and ended up in an 11.5. Save time and buy a full size bigger for sure.

I bought this same pair of boots 12 years ago and they were the best investment- just recently wore out! They look great with jeans for a casual snow day or with my ski pants at the end of a long day. Highly recommend.

I bought these for a trip to Colorado to Winter Park. They were perfect for walking and playing in the snow. We went sledding and tubbing and these boots kept my feet very warm and dry and gave me a lot of support as well.
