I've been preparing for a marathon at age 58 . I did my first half marathon as my long run a quarter way thru my training. I'm over weight and I've slowed down a lot, another words I have no confidence. I put these shoes on first time for this race and I had my best time and I felt things I never did before. I only use these for my long runs. They are my secret weapon to success ! . No shoe before this have ever made me feel like this. Game changer!!

The last set of shoes that gave me blisters was a pair of Hokas, back in about 2013. I don't think my feet are wide, I never need to buy "wide" sizes from Saucony, New Balance, or Asics. But, for the sake of transparency, I do really enjoy wider shoes from Topo. Anyhow, I bought the SPEs since I had read they are a little wider than the original Carbon X. Even if true, they are still too narrow. I felt it immediately when I first put them on, my big toes are partially hanging off the edge and also bulging out the side of the upper. A 4-mile run seemed ok, so I decided to keep them. But, then I went on a 10-mile run. Both my big toes blistered on the side facing inward. Additionally, my right foot started to blister a tiny bit under the ball, like how I remember some folk complained happened with Claytons. Nothing about them seemed special or good enough to try and work through that to see if I could build enough resistance to the blistering. Really, I am almost shocked at how "blah" these shoes are, not in the top five shoes I've owned in the past five years, so I am returning them. Kudos to Hoka for taking returns. But, all your shoes are too narrow. I have bought quite a few of your shoes, but it will take a lot to gain me back as a customer, sorry.

At this pricepoint, I had high expectations. These shoes are probably the best I've ever owned! I just hope they hold up.......

I bought these shoes to run in. I run 6-8 miles 4-5 days a week. From all the reviews of the HOKA brand in general there is not a "break in" period. The first day I wore them everything felt good except on top of my great toe joint, where it just felt uncomfortable. Second day the uncomfortable feeling turned into pain and about 3 miles from home an area opened up requiring me to limp home.. I tried wearing the feature socks, which by the way are awesome as I never wear socks with my Brooks and have never opened up. However, the pressure continued whether I laced tighter or looser, even applied duoderm to the tops of my feet and nothing has helped.. When I compared the inside material of this pair to the ones of my daughter(HOKA Carbon X) hers does not have a seam/ridge like mine.. I also noticed more knee and hip discomfort each day I wore them.. Maybe it was a coincidence or that I changed my gait due to the foot pain but either way I sent them back and will stick to my Brooks..
I cannot say it is a bad shoe, it just doesn't work for my feet due to the thick seam across the base of the toe box.

I bought this shoe just because I was about to start racing again and I needed something fast and not $250+. This shoe did not disappoint. The rocker is amazing and the energy return is insane. I destroyed my 5k PR with a 17:15. The cushion is not very plush, but it is perfect. Cushion is NOT needed for this shoe.

I love these! They are my 4th pair of Hoka's and officially my favorite pair. They are EXTREMELY light weight and VERY supportive. I have metatarsalgia and these really support the arches AND toes.

I prefer to tuck my shoe laces in, can't do that with the X-SPE. Would like to see more cushioning in forefoot. Overall, great shoe !!

I love the shoes, that im ordering another shoe, I've tried all the nursing shoes, but this brand has been the best. I don't have pain on my legs after I started wearing them for work. I alternated with my other working shoes, but I noticed I have leg pains after the other shoes, so I decided to get another pair to alternate with.

Wow! They are so light and bouncy it's ridiculous. I love running in them! But they do get dirty really quick. Would like more color options. The best running shoes I have ever owned.

I love they are a lightweight shoe but I would like a little more cushion. The Bondi 6 I tried had more cushion but felt a bit clunky.

I think because of the style, they are more made for men. That is the only reason for the 3 stars. I did love the colors and how light weight they were but I had to return them. I will stick to the Clifton's that seem to fit my feet better. Thank you
I'd also recommend:
Clifton's for sure, I now have 4 pairs.

I purchased it for road running but the sizing was awful. Hoka sizing seems to be very inconsistent.
