not as much cushion in the sole as the Clifton. upper is like a slip on (not a true tongue on this shoe) with laces over. still very supportive and comfortable.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Hoka's!! There is only one thing I would change and I have heard it from other Hoka owners as well - tone down the arch support instep, it actually cuts into the foot. I have also noticed that the shoes run inconsistent with the fit. Almost like each pair can feel different from the last. Am thinking that it may be a quality control issue with the intro to the Clifton 8. I own a bunch of the 7's and the last few pair I have bought do not feel like they were made the same as the first three I purchased. Clifton 8's seem to be even more comfortable. I will still buy over and over again and would recommend this shoe to anyone with life long foot issues.

FIt is a little narrow but it’s the whole shoe. It’s still shaped to leave room in the toe box. I wear an 8.5 and it fits me like a glove. I read there wasn’t a lot of cushion and alright it isn’t squishy but there is plenty of give and the carbon stiffness really does propel you to your next step. Also they are the coolest looking Hoka. The upper material is more like plastic very breathable 10/10.

Fun shoe--very fast. Solid base. Excellent weight, construction, performance. Instills confidence. Stiff, not much cushion. Holds you upright--does not pitch you forward. Unfortunately, I developed shin splints for the first time in my life. I run 3 miles every day. I have worn Mizuno Wave Creation for the last 18 years. I am over 40, HWP. I guess I better stick with what works for me.
