I am a huge fan of the Hoka One One Clifton 6's and when they started to wear after about a year's use, I thought the Clifton 7's would be the same. These sneakers have been slightly redesigned to be narrower and offer much less arch support than it's Clifton 6 predecessor. I'm not sure why they would change the shoe. The new soles are harder and not at all comfortable. I thought I was judging too harshly and decided to wear my Clifton 6 on one foot and the Clifton 7 on the other and nope, my Clifton 6's supports have a deeper heel cup and more arch support and is overall "cushionier" than the Clifton 7's. What a disappointment. I found the shoe of my dreams and now I have to start all over again.

I wanted to love these. I read a ton of reviews but unfortunately, after just a few minutes, my toes on my right foot felt numb. I felt almost like my heels were lower than my toes. I walk about 6-8 miles per day and couldn’t risk the pain. Sadly, they went back. The search continues.

Toe box much smaller than previous models. True to length but width variable. Left shoe significantly wider than right. Foot became numb in Right shoe. Shoes returned for replacement trial to determine possibility of quality control issue.

Arch support in shoe dug & rubbed my arch. Very uncomfortable. Ordered a Women's 10 Wide. Size was perfect, just really uncomfortable..

I bought two pairs of these, one for myself and one for my wife. Initially they were very comfortable but started to fall apart after a little bit of wear.
I contacted the manufacturer with photos and they said that it was normal wear, this was disheartening as they were a month old and only worn occasionally and had paint flaking off and holes in the material starting.
I was offered a return with the possibility of a credit towards another pair if deemed a manufacturer defect.
I buy shoes for a family of 5, I don’t buy cheap shoes but the Hoka’s were by far the lowest quality shoes I’ve experienced of any brand.
I'd also recommend:

Fit is off. First time I try Hoka and I was between the Bondi 7 and Clifton 7. Although the Cliftons look less bulky, the heel support is minimal. Beware if you have knee problems.

Super disappointed in the quality of these Hokas. I've owned pairs of Hokas in the past that I've worn well into the 400-500 mile range. But with this pair, after only ~150 miles (mostly paved road, some treadmill), they have really started to break down. The most troubling development is that the treads on the bottom of the shoes have started coming off, something I have never seen before in the dozens of running shoes I've owned in the last decade.

These shoes are extremely narrow. I ordered a wide, which I never wear and I could still feel that horrid little ridge above the sole, digging into my foot. Also the sole is as stiff as a board. I tried the Bondi and the Arahi which both had the horrid hard ridge above the sole, digging in to my foot. I have challenging feet and thought, due to other reviews, that this brand might be good. I have tried on many shoes and these were the worst of them all. It took my body a week to recover from wearing these. I'm glad they work for so many people but they are not for everyone.

I loved this shoe a lot at first. But after wearing them 4-5 times the cushiony footbed compressed to the point of making the shoe too big and the arch support non-existent. Unfortunately, I have worn them so I don't think I can return them. Double Unfortunately, I also bought the Bondi 7s and have the same problem with them. I feel ripped off.

I have 2 pairs of the Clifton 6 and I LOVE them. Was trying to buy another pair so I purchased the 7's. They do not fit at all like the 6's. They are too narrow and the heel is shallow causing my foot to not go down into the shoe far enough. Very disappointed!

I became a Hoka fan when I bought my first pair of Clifton 5’s. Literally the best running shoe I have ever owned. Then Hoka changed their Clifton sizing slightly with the 6, it was manageable but not as good as the 5. Then they came out with the 7. This shoe is TERRIBLE. Sizing is completely different, my foot is almost breaking out of it with my orthotic ( have never had this issue with Clifton 5/6, Bondi 6, or Carbon X). I made it 17 miles total in this shoe and can’t stand running or walking another mile in it. If you were a fan of the 5 or 6 you will be severely disappointed in this model. I would not recommend this model to anyone.

Such a disappointment. The left shoe feels amazing, but the right is tight on top. I have had issues with foot volume in shoes before, but never with my right foot feeling fine while the other is tight. I made the huge mistake of cutting the mesh web attached to the tongue, based on reviews that complained about it making the shoe tight. Sadly, the left shoe is still tight, and I am now the owner of a worthless $130 pair of shoes. Learn from my mistake, don't let recommendations from hardcore Hokka fans lead you to making the mistake I did. I ended up finding another review where someone said the left shoe was good, but their right shoe was not, and they felt it may be a defect in the right shoe. I am unsure how that would happen, but maybe their right shows are defected. Either way, Hokka should do more to detail how volume comes into play for their shoes. I will be sticking with New Balance after this lapse in judgement. Don't believe the over-hype of running blogs around this shoe.

This was the first time I ordered Hokas as my running shoe after hearing such wonderful things from others about the brand for running. I always order a half a size larger for my running shoe which I did for these Hokas and they’re way to large. These were also way too wide, which I’m use to finding shoes a little too wide for my narrow medium width foot, but these shoes were so wide they gave my foot no support. I prefer a very supportive running shoe that’s roomie for running but these shoes were to the most extreme of those desires to the point of useless shoes for me. I hear nothing but great things about this brand but for my more narrow foot these shoes would never work.

I had the same issue as another reviewer with the tongue sling pushing up the orthotic except I use an off-the-shelf Pulse Powerstep insert. The sling pushes up the orthotic and completely changes the fit and feel of the shoe compared to the Clifton 6. I had multiple pairs of both Clifton 5 and 6 with the inserts over hundreds of miles with no issues. The tongue sling on the Clifton 7 changes the heel-toe drop and immediately resulted in shin splints and terrible lower back and hip pain! I thought they were just too small, so I switched to a half size larger. This helped a little bit. Fortunately, I found a new pair of Clifton 6 online that I can use while working on resolving this issue. It's night and day between running days on the two models. I cut the tongue slings on the Clifton 7 today and will try them again tomorrow. Stay tuned!

After living in the Clifton 5s and 6s, I am super disappointed in these shoes. With my orthotics, my foot is too high through the arch and with the attached tongue, the shoes are too tight across the top. (I don't even have to tie the laces. The shoes stay on.) They also rub against my little toes. And, my PF in one foot that had gone away has come back. Had I ordered from the big online shoe retailer, I could have sent them back. But, since I ordered them from Hoka instead, I'm left with a very expensive pair of shoes I can't wear.

Why would you secure the sides of the tongue to the bottom of the shoe? This fundamentally ruins the shoe for anyone with a high inseam. Right shoe straight up hurts. Clifton 6, thing of beauty. Clifton 7, thing of nightmares.

I purchased the Hoka Clifton 8, and went down .5 from my usual size (dress shoe 8, typical running shoe 9.5) and the width fit me much better. The 9.5 was too wide side to side. These are extremely comfortable for my feet!

I have had foot problems most of my life with 2 surgeries on each foot. From the moment that I put them on my feet felt instantly comfortable. I can walk all day without any foot pain whatsoever.

My Hokas get loads of walking miles on them and hold up great. On/off for years I have struggled with plantar fasciitis so I was delighted to discover Hoka. I'm never turning back!
