Bought these for my wife who is super picky about her footwear and can tell right away if they'll work for her. She loves the way they look and feel. We didn't have to change the insoles the ones in them work great. Overall this is one of the best trail hiking shoes out there.
I'd also recommend:

These shoes were heaven from the moment I put them on! I suffer with plantar fasciitis and these have helped so much. The cushion of the insole is fabulous. The width of the shoe is a more natural feel than most shoes. The show is well built and feels like it will last. I am very satisfied. Altra you have a lifelong customer!

I love these shoes. For one who walks and hikes a lot in a variety of weather conditions a terrains, the Vibram soles are high performing and sadly uncommon on these types of shoes. Fantastic grip and no slip. When I developed plantar fasciitis these were the only shoes of many I tried that kept my sore foot bearable.

It feels wonderful to be able to spread pot my toes. No more calluses from side friction.

I have never ran in the Olympus before until this year 2021. I was blown away with how great this shoes feels on and how well it handles on trails. I ran my FKT attempt rim2rim2rim in the Olympus because the trail wasn't to technical and to help deal with the downhill pounding. Bottom line the Olympus has had some major changes and feels sleek despite the amount of cushion it comes with. This will be a shoe I will use more of in future when it comes to late miles in in a 100 mile race and big days in the Grand Canyon

I use trail runners to hike (I don't run). I chose the Olympus 4s because they are the plushest Altra and have an aggressive tread. I wear 8.5s and 9s in shoes (all kinds). Since my Hoka trail runners are 8.5s, I first bought the Olympus 4s in size 8.5, but on downhills my toes were hitting the top of the toe box and it was uncomfortable. So, I traded for 9s and the length is fine. The width is sort of a mixed bag. I have "regular" width feet but they skew slightly wide. These shoes, though, are quite wide and it takes some getting used to. The negative is that I feel like my feet move around too much in the shoe which makes me worry about instability; the positive is how nice it is not to have cramped toes and feet. I take extra care to lace them firmly and, although I do feel the foot movement, I haven't really felt unstable on the trial - I don't know if runners would have a different take. Our first trip out I hiked 17 miles and they were great! No break in period. Plenty of room in that toe box for my feet to swell and splay, lots of plush in the soles so I didn't have noticeable foot pain (an issue for me). And I love the tread, it's really grippy. Ultimately, I would buy these again.

I had a plantar plate tear and needed more balanced shoes to resume my morning walks. These were comfortable the first day I put them on. The width at the toe area is wonderful, none of my toes are pushed together and the stronger balance at the ball of the foot enables me to walk with less pressure on the ball of my foot. I love the color too!

I walk 5 or 6 miles a day during the week and longer hikes on the weekend. I've worn these every day for almost two weeks and they are so comfortable. No blisters, no breaking in needed, my toes actually have ROOM! They're not pretty but honestly I think they're so ugly they've gone round the bend to cute again. My holy grail shoe!

I am disabled (C4-5) and have a ton of nerve pain. I am currently relearning to walk and have severe nerve pain in my feet, legs, and back. My foot doctor recommended these shoes and they have been a Godsend while standing and walking. I even recommended them to my family members who are diabetic and they love them as well. I'll definitely buy again.

These shoes are excellent for hiking or all day wear. The Altra comfort of cushion and toe box are great. The color is unique.

This is the third pair of Olympus and I like the subtle changes. It still has a nice wide toe, but the whole upper seems a little less bulky than before, especially in the tongue and ankle. I'm a walker, not a runner, and have bunions, as well as peripheral neuropathy. Olympus is the best model for me. Love the black and white.

Bought these shoes bc I have nerve pain in the ball of my foot. The toe box is wide so my toes can spread out. I bought my normal size. I used them for a 9 mile hike and my foot felt great, and no extra pain the day after or pain at all. So I am very happy with purchase.

I will buy these shoes again. This was my first time to wear them. I broke my ankle 2 years ago and they stabilize me so well.

I'm on my feet all day as I work in healthcare. I love these shoes. I go home after working and my feet feel terrific. I have had plantar fasciitis surgery and good shoes are a must.

Great for somewhat has bunions & needs a wider toe box. I love them! My podiatrist was very interested in them, too.

This was my first Altra purchase and it will definitely not be my last! Have received my Olympus 4 trail shoes and have put them to the test several times. They are extremely comfortable, with a solid yet flexible sole, plenty of toe room, strong upper material that appears resistant to tearing. In addition, delivery was prompt and the product was intact. Could not be more satisfied.

I bought this shoe because I had ankle/foot surgery and I have a metal plate in my foot. My Orthopedist told me to buy a rocker type shoe and when I searched for rocker style shoes these popped up. While they are not really rocker style they still give me enough support. They would be an excellent trail running shoe or hiking shoe because they have a good grippy sole. I also like the wide toe box.

I have many pairs of Altra's, but these are the most comfortable. Super squishy and plenty of width. I walk nearly 3,000 miles a year and these will be perfect for my daily walks.

I use the Women's Olympus 4 daily. I have horrible feet that were causing me constant pain. I LOVE Altra shoes in general, and the Olympus provides the nice wide toe box as well as the stability under foot. I was first wary of the foot shape technology, but the shoe really does mold to the shape of your foot. I can walk again without pain!

The only shoes that make my feet feel good are tennis shoes. These are the best that I have found. Most shoes I have to use orthotics in, but this is the first pair that it isn't necessary.
The only thing I don't like about them is the width in the toe area. It feels good, but I'm not crazy about how wide it looks. Not a big deal if your feet feel good!
