I first bought a pair directly from Altra, but had to return it for a 1/2 size larger than I have ever worn. I bought the second pair through Zappos. While it has a roomy toe box, that I liked, the toe is very hard. I understand that is to protect the toes, but I expected it to be hard on the outside; the inside of the shoe is very hard, too (feels like wearing a steel-toed boot but with the steel on the inside). I tried stuffing some lambswool in the toe to soften the blow, but it was still very hard. I decided to give the shoes a workout and try to break them in, in hopes it would soften the toe of the shoe. That didn't work, either, and now that the shoe has been worn, it is not eligible for a return. So, the Altra shoe was a very expensive lesson for me. Everything else about the shoe is great, especially the "grippy" sole, but my toes are dark red and swollen after a 40-minute walk, so they are just too uncomfortable to wear.

Uncomfortable fit. Something changed! Loved the previous model. Good return service however.

I have worn the Altra Olympus for a number of years, and have been very pleased with them. They are the only everyday shoe I can wear that protects me from Morton's neuroma pain. I am currently wearing the 2.5 version, but needed new shoes, so I purchased the 4.0 version to replace them. I am not happy with this version. Altra has changed the design of the heel by reducing the depth of the heel box, which causes my heel to slip to the point where I cannot wear them. Please Altra, return to the 2.5 heel design in your next version so I can replace my very worn shoes, and continue to protect my feet.

I purchased the womens Olympus 4 Trail running show.. The shoe laces are so short. Its ridiculous. To double knot I had to pull way too tight. I walk about 15 to 20 miles with my dog a week. I am older and do no running or anything to strenuous. lI an 5' 6 weigh 116 lbs. After 1 1/2 months walking my dog and working 5 days a week at a desk, the innersoles were non-existent. felt like I was walking on concrete. In the past I also purchase Torins womens and the same thing. Lasted all of two months. I ended up buying MENS TORIN at that time, and found how much mor comfor table the MENS SHOWS WERE. They alsio lasted so much longer, the shoe laces qwere longer,j the comfort level exceeded any of the womens Altras, The Olympus cost $170+. You would think they would last much longer at such a low rate of use. Again I am buying a MENS SHOE hoping it the same that I experienced with the Torin. Mens shoes are made much more sturdy, more more comfortable. I will see how that goes and post after I receive and wear for 8 months. Don't know if it is where these are made (several third world countries)( or if they are being made with inferior product even though priced high. Will keep everyone in the loop.

I have neuromas and back issues. I walk 4 miles a day, rain or shine. I've worn every Olympus model since 2016. But your 4.0 model is messing up my knees and I don't know why. I've broken them in gradually and carefully, and I can't stop the knee issues. I'm assuming it is the new weird flanged heel, since that is the major change. Please figure out what happened, because I need the max cushioning but can't wear Olympus now.

Footbed feels narrower than previous Olympus versions-or less forgiving. Too bad because otherwise i love this shoe, but this version hurts my bunion-there is no give on the side. I also dont love the color options. Prefer lighter shoe colors like the grey and aqua in the Olympus 3. I would recommend if you dont have a need for a wide shoe.

I've worn Altra shoes for a few years. The quality of of material and craftsmanship has plummeted. I was absolutely shocked at the cheap plastic and foam used on this model -- worse than the cheapest discount store brand sneakers. I'm done with Altra shoes. Good grief!

I bought these a year ago and they were life changing miracles. I just bought a new pair because my old ones were too dirty. The new ones are not the same. Not as cushioned, cheaper feeling material, my feet are throbbing, aching and tingling. Not sure what changed but they are different. My old pair was very grippy and even as a nurse were like suction cups on wet floors. I've been wearing these for 1.5 shifts and they don't grip the same, and don't make the same "suction cup" noise when wet. I know something has changed about this shoe. Very diappointing and I'm not sure what I'll even do now. Why would anyone change a perfect shoe?

This shoe is very uncomfortable, It was advertised that it had cushioning but it feels like it has none! The sizing is much different then the other models. Each model that you sell has different sizing so, depending on which model you choose, it's a guess on what size to buy. I returned them!

I opened the box a few minutes ago and pulled one of these babies out and immediately my heart sank because I was SO excited to love these. They are like hideously stubby and extremely wide orthopedic...trail runners? I am a size 10.5-11 and my other Altra's are 11's - my others fit great. The Olympus 4 feel short and incredibly wide. I can't imagine running in these on trail without tripping over yourself. I walked across my kitchen with them on and my toes were hitting the top and front. Who ever put the insole in (or machine?) didn't do so correctly so the toe was all bent adding to the uncomfortable feel. I'm disappointed in all the positive reviews that I fell for. These shoes are trash. I won't order directly from Altra again because the description and photo's do not accurately portray how enormous and straight up weird these are. Hard pass for me, lone peaks forever.

I'm disappointed by how much these shoes vary from size to size. Really wish my local stores had more variety in this line, because these are really a shoe that you need to try on and make sure you're getting the right size. I can't count how many returns I've had to do in order to get the right size in just one model. And the vary from model to model, but also if a design gets an upgrade, it suddenly fits differently than the last version.

I can't believe how innconsistent this brand is in sizing. I have an old model of the olympus that was too big, and now ordered the same size and they new design feels an entire size too tight. And then the fit also varies from style to style. So while I love the concept of these shoes, you really have to go into a store and try them on to get the best shoe and fit.

I loved the Olympus 2. They became my go to comfort for just about everything. I've tried every iteration since the 2 and end up returning them. I thought the 4 might be a winner with the updated design....but no feels too narrow and was returned. Bring back the 2!
