I hike 6 to 10 miles 3 or 4 times a week in the desert southwest where the trails are often solid or loose sharp rocks. After several years and multiple pairs of lone peak shoes I found they did not provide sufficient underfoot protection for me. I tried the Olympus and have been very happy with them. I am on my second pair. There is a small sacrifice of stability with the higher stack height and I have adapted to that.

I have owned many pairs of Ultra shoes over the years and this is by far the best max cushion shoe I have tried. I would love a similar design and fit in a road running version!

These are beyond comfortable. I have a lot of tennis shoes that I rotate. But after getting these I don't even need my other ones. So comfortable and the design is very cool.

I walk between 5 to 8 miles a day. I'm approaching 60 and Im usually really spent on Friday. Since these shoes , I'm ready to walk even more. Seriously no more back issues, no more sore legs. I hope they last. I only have about 20 miles on them. So far Amazing... I guess you get what you pay for

I have worn Altras as a trail shoe for over a decade. Both my feet have had surgery related to arthritic damage from psoriatic arthritis. I loved the original Lone Peak, not so much now, I then found joy in the Timp, then it was streamlined and too narrow, but the out of the box comfort with the new Olympus was worth celebrating. Miles on trails and 12 hours on feet can make shoes unforgiving but I think this is a winner. Thank you for the supportive, neutral trail shoe, with a wide forefoot that Altra was known for. Incidentally I am a hospital nurse, and I wear Altras to work in too....the only shoe my podiatrist recommends, Torin for work, and now the Olympus for my miles on the trail!

Used these in recent 100 mile run - while I don't have hundreds of miles on them, I have been very impressed with durability so far. Brought extra pair of shoes to use in case I wanted to swap during the race and had no need to. Excellent support/comfort. They're an investment but worth it.

I have a wide foot so hard to find shoes that fit. Was able to go half a size down from my normal size in nike's because of the wide toe box and this fits just right. Cushion is soft and springy and have used these on two hikes so far. They have been great and felt secure. The shoes look so nice and clean in the black colorway. I hope Altra continue to go in this design direction. They totally killed it with this one. My first Altra purchase and won't be my last :)

Experienced runner, but relatively new to trail-running and hiking. I was introduced to this model at a local running store and was impressed with the fit and comfort of the shoe. I didn't have much time to break them in before taking them on a 23-mile through-hike in The Enchantments, but they were comfortable and gripped well on a variety of surfaces. No blisters. Minimal foot pain. Very impressed and will have to consider more Altra's in the future.

Just did the 80 mile wind river high route in Wyoming with new Olympus. Not a single blister and gripped the rock like a champ. Only gripe is the mesh got shredded when my foot slid into a crack several times. This is very harsh terrain so if your on a trail shouldnt have any issues. Altra has amazing products as well as great customer support!

I have been hiking/backpacking with Lone Peak 4.0 and Timp 1.5 for a while and, although I like both, they aren't quite cushioned enough for rocky trails. I purchased the Olympus 4.0 specifically to get greater stack height and more protection from sharp rocks, while still having the advantages of a trail runner for hiking. The Olympus 4.0 turned out to be excellent. Much better cushioning from rocks, they are incredibly lightweight and I'm pleasantly surprised by the stability. I was concerned about stability with the 33 mm stack height and it turns out they're more stable than my Lone Peak 4.0. Very pleased so far.

I will be using them for light day hiking. I have several pairs of Altra's and love their wide toe box. Like look of this new one with extra cushioning in sole. So far, I like them very much. Will see how well they hold up.

This is a great upgrade from the Olympus 3.5. Absolutely the best shoe I have ever bought. Superior cushioning. Upgraded insole. Upper mesh fantastic. Has increased my ability to walk due to serious feet problems.

Great full cushion trail shoe! Full support with Vibram sole that saves my feet from killing me on the long runs! I've got 130 plus miles on my first pair and they have been the best trail shoe I've ever owned. The best comparison I can make is to the hoka mafate, except the Olympus 4 has better toe box size and doesn't give me blisters. I'll be ordering a second pair soon to be prepped for Rim to River 100 miler this November.

BEST EVER. Was nervous about the price but not anymore. Just got them and they are wonderful. Never understood when people say that it's like nothing else but it is. They are great shoes. I had broken and foot and ankle on same foot and have had issues getting shoes to feel and fit right. I will be able to wear these for servers hours and be good to go. Lots of great support and cushion where it is needed. Will be purchasing the sandals next for around the house. Spend the money and get the shoes you will love them. Feet need to be taken care of and this is the brand to do it. Thank you from the bottom of my feel literally.

I had two knee surgery on the same knee and I happen to see these shoes on my phone and I read the comments from other. By reading the comments this was my reason to purchase them and it was the best decision I made. These shoes feel so Comfortable and and when I take them off my knee swell each time and that's the truth. I'm not a runner because of my knee replacement but they really helps my knee !

If you want lots of cushioning this is the shoe that you've been looking for. This is the most comfortable shoe I've worn since the Paradigm. Stop whining about the price and go buy it. This shoe seems like a higher level of quality than previous shoes as well.

I was really surprised by the amount of cushion this shoe has, in a really good way. The cushion, space for my toes to be spread, and the way the heel locks into the shoe.. perfect. I switched over from Hokas and am never going back. DONT CHANGE THE SHOE.

Fit is true to size. I wear a 10.5 in the Superior 3.0 and the fit was spot on. Wow, what an incredible upgrade in cushioning from the Superior 3.0. Thought I would miss the low to ground feel and control but that was not the case. The Olympus does have a lot of cushioning but thanks to the zero drop it never feels unstable and I've always had close to ground grip control. The cushioning felt amazing on a recent hike through steep and rugged Tahoe mountains. It almost feels like latex, where it is a plush cushion but snaps back to give you a thrust into your next step. Seriously the cushioning is amazing I've never felt tech like this where it gives you a boost of energy when lifting your foot off the ground. I was shocked at how light the shoe was. Truly well designed. There is a lot of foam, so the only question mark is durability. See my pictures, the foam is already chipping. It felt all day comfortable a like hiking boot without the support. The toe protection is a huge help when bumping into rocks. Very well done running/hiking shoe. I've never owned a shoe this technologically advanced and expensive but wow it seriously performs. My only complaint is the color selection. Only color with my size was the blue and yellow which is super bright. Was hoping to get the black and teal which looks really cool. Altra I know you're capable of delivering cooler colorways!

This is my 5th pair of Olympus Nice upgrades I have put about 100 miles on them and I am very pleased. They are already showing wear. Durability has never been a strong point but I am pretty happy Really happy they finally have better colors. The previous version had hideous colors

I have had every version of the olympus and this is hands down the best version yet. They eliminated the bulkiness, fixed the tongue issue and improved the shoe as a whole. I just hope they dont away too far from this platform for the olympus in future versions.

Altra, you have a winner, please don't change a thing. After trying all your other shoes and most of the shoes on the market this one is perfect for me. I use these shoes for backpacking and they work great !

All the hallmarks of a good Altra shoe... Wide toe box, zero drop, no ridiculous arch support, and quality materials. This shoe also managed to improve on some issues Altras can have by adding a Vibram sole, a bolstering upper, dialing in sizing, and great laces. I have three different Altra trail running shoes, and a few road models, that all do different things and these fill a whole in my arsenal. My King MT is perfect for hyper technical side winding off camber racing, my Superior 4's are great for most things in socal but sacrifice grip for lightness and are treturous on anything not bone dry, and these Olympus 4's are perfect shoes for non technical trails over longer distances(these shoes dream of fire roads) and turn anything slow and rolling into essentially feeling like you're running on a road. No pebble feel under feet... Here's to you Romero fire road descent. I do get some calf slap in the return due to the bulk of the shoe and my slender 5-10, 135 lb, frame but perhaps I need to work on my form? In a perfect world I would want to shave some of the width off of the footprint just to make them more race-able and less calf slappy. Verdicts out. Also while the soles are truly amazingly grippy the stack height makes off camber running a danger to joint health everywhere (knee, ankle, hip) if this type of technical terrain feature is sustained for too long. That's not what these shoes are meant for. These shoes would be amazing for hiking trails, or hunting them, as well.

My 1st Altra was Lone Peak 4 not one blister for the last 2 years until I put 2000 miles on it last week I finally had 1 big blister by walking in the PCT rocky rocks. I figure I would get a new one and boy I heard so much about the Olympus 3.5 so I decided to put the 4 and it was a great choice perfect fit .
