The fit and size of this Escalante 2.5 are both spot on. They feel the same as all my Altra shoes have felt, AWESOME!. I’ve been having trouble with my feet, especially the right one, for more years than I can remember. About 7-8 years ago, my daughter, my friend and I went to the Atlanta area to visit my other daughter. Well we walked, and walked, and walked. I had what I thought was an ok pair of shoes for walking. By the time I got back home, I was in a great deal of pain in my right foot. A month later I went to see a foot surgeon because my pain level was so high. I have arthritis in both feet and bunions on both feet. I really didn’t want to have surgery and was relieved to find I didn’t need to. The doctor told me to get some GOOD running shoes and a pair of half orthotics sold right at the shoe store. I did just that and don’t remember what brand I bought but they definitely helped tremendously. I still wasn’t totally pleased but tired of looking. I received a gift certificate to Zappos for Christmas one year and thought I would try another pair of shoes. The light blue color of the, Altra The One, caught my eye. They were fantastic and I wore them exclusively until they were no longer made in that model. I switched to what I think is the Escalante, no number. They’re perfect. Now I just got these Escalante 2.5’s today. Again, I was attracted by the color. They’re great! I don’t notice any difference in the 2.5. I may not be a runner, I’m not even a exercising walker. However, I am an eighty year old woman, with 2 artificial knees (don’t hurt at all) who can walk all around my large 2 story house, do my shopping and any other errands I need to do with NO foot pain. So it doesn’t matter to me how much or what kind of padding is in these shoes. What does matter is that I have worn Altra shoes for the past seven years without pain. I put them on when I dress in the morning and do not take them off until I go to bed at night. Oh and by the way, I don’t need the orthotics the doctor suggested I buy. I’ve never needed them in any of my Altra’s. Now, let’s get to the new color I ordered this time. I got the dusty pink. On my iPad they looked more beige than pink, but either way I didn’t care. Well, I guess the best way to describe the color is a marled rose gold with a soft cream for the plain accent color. The tongue and laces are a lovely light mint green. They are very, very pretty, but not pink. I love them and think they’re the most elegant looking running shoes I’ve ever see .

These shoes feel amazing on your feet and give you a very roomy toe box. So great for your feet! No break in time at all; great out of the box. True to size. Absolutely love them!

These are so comfortable! I've been looking for zero drop shoes forever. Most have no padding or little padding on the bottom of the shoe. These are great. I've tried Altra before but they were always too tight. So these are a bit wider and fit perfectly.

I've been running in Adidas for many years and switched to Altra. I am happy with the change; these have more support. I ran a half in these, and they have been great.

The Altra Escalante 2.5 is the closest to walking naturally (barefoot) while wearing a nice looking sneaker I've found! Even better than the super light, Nike Free Flyknits from a few years ago. These are my new go-to shoes for walking long distances, working out, etc. They fit perfectly and look good with workout wear or jeans alike.

I have neuropathy in my feet and these are the only shoes that help my feet instead of hurting them. I am on my 4th pair and love them!!! Will buy more soon. Don't change a thing on them. Thanks

Good for someone with low back issues. Due to a back injury and subsequent surgery in my low back, I cannot wear shoes with any rise in the heel for very long. Typical athletic shoes have an elevated heel which causes a little extra curve in the lumbar spine, and creates nerve pain down my leg. I switched to these shoes because they have zero rise, and it has been a game changer. I can walk for miles without issue. Also, they are very cushy :) Feels like walking on marshmallows. This purchase will make it my third pair.

These are the only shoes I will wear! They are the only shoe I can wear for hours without hurting my knee. They even made it through the caves in Kentucky.

Love Love these runners. If you are looking for a lightweight, moderate cushion this is the shoe for you. I have used them for treadmill running only at this point. They are my favorite shoes to date!!

A great running shoe, this is my 4 or 5th iteration of this model. Great neutral shoe. I run 3 to 4 miles, 3 times a week...retired runner and shoe keeps me going pain free.

Love these shoes. They are a little on the wide side but that’s why I bought them. I appreciate they are not snug in the toe box. Love the color.

My husband insisted I purchase these shoes for comfort as he owns a few pairs of Altra footwear. I finally purchased them and I am very happy I did. The shoes are soft and extremely comfortable. I highly recommend them for anyone that struggles to find shoes that fit well and don't hurt your feet.

Great shoes! However I did return the shoes due to my pronation type. They put too much pressure on the outside of my feet.

I was introduced to Altra Escalante's in 2019 with the 2.0 which I fell in love with... so much I stockpiled it when this edition came out. Started running in this version and didn't think it was possible to improve on the shoe but improvements are really good. I prefer training in this shoe or the racer vs. Torin. Torin is good for long slow mileage.

I need this wide toe box because of Peripheral neuropathy. These are the only closed-toe shoes I can wear.

I love the fit, the feellove the zero drop. I have these in the raspberry and grey and love them both for different reasons as to the color, but both fit and wear the same. My only complaint is on the raspberry pair the loop on the tongue is already ripped from the tongueit is not like I pull them off hard, so bummer!
