Best shoes for walking I've ever worn! I love the wide toe box, they are so comfortable and encourage me to walk longer every day! While I have room in the toes, I wouldn't want a smaller size, the fit is perfect for me.

Extremely comfortable and light weight. Purchased to wear to Disneyland; I typically have sore feet and toes after a day of walking especially with new shoes. Totaled 30 miles in 3 days and had no blisters or foot pain at all, and didn't need to wear them in first.

I bought these for my 83 year old mother. She needed something breathable, and supportive. These are excellent. She wears them indoors and out and feels much more safe as she walks.

This is my third pair of Altras and second pair of Escalantes. I ordered the gray/melon color and am very pleased with how they look and feel. I do buy Altras a half size larger than my other shoes. I have the white ones, too, but use those only in the workout room at the Y.

Use these for running. This model is super lightweight which is great for short distance support. I tend to use them occasionally for long work days as they provide great comfort and flexibility.

I use my shoes for walking. I developed arthritis in 2 toes after training for a half marathon years ago. I had a purchased a brand new pair of a name brand shoe and it bet if I had these shoes then, mama toes would be fine. So comfortable!

Shoe is very comfortable. Light weight fabric will make them cool and breathable. I wish they came in a non lace up version.
I'd also recommend:
Clarks. Easy Spirit

I've been struggling with shin splints since taking up running again recently and have been looking for a solution. I've been trying to adjust my gait in my current running shoes (brooks) to toe strike since that's supposed to help, with little success. Then my boyfriend started going on and on about his zero drop shoes and how they foster a more natural running gait and how it's really helped him so I decided, what the heck, I'll give it a shot. Oh. my. god. Let me just tell you folks. These are the most comfortable shoes I've EVER put on my feet. They are just about perfect in every way. I've always had to buy expensive, bulky running shoes AND expensive insoles to get any kind of shock absorption to help my shins. Not these shoes, they work perfectly with no insole replacement! Not to mention the stock insoles that come in the shoes are actually way nicer than any other stock insoles in my experience and I've worn them all, brooks, nikes, reebok, adidas. I have a high arch but my arch doesn't collapse so I do really well in a neutral shoe, which is definitely what I'd consider this shoe to be. That being said, this shoe gives great, natural arch support without being rigid and it cushions in all the right places without being a heavy, clunky shoe. I also LOVE the wider toe box and stretchy, breathable, sock-like upper. I'M OBSESSED. I'm sure I will be buying more. Altra has made a lifelong customer out of me.

These are absolutely the most comfortable shoes ever! I wish there was more color choices but they are so comfortable that I wear them when they don't match my clothes. My 2nd pair.

I've been running in the Escalante Racer for a bit, but wanted a shoe with a little more padding for when I stand for hours teaching group fitness. These are perfect, and I find myself wearing them everywhere now. So comfortable, it's like being barefoot on a cloud. I saw a number of reviews about sore feet with these and with the Racer, but it's just because most of us are used to having our feet overly supported by any kind of training shoe. Give your muscles time to strengthen and adapt and you will find that you can never go back to other shoes. I do a lot of training barefoot, so I've always struggled with feeling comfortable and natural in sneakers. Did a bunch of reading some years ago and finally discovered Altra's more minimal shoes, and so glad I did - it's totally changed my whole fitness game.

so comfortable. runs a bit bigger than other Altra's perhaps. It has a nice stretchy top to accomodate tender feet, a decent amount of cushion, and the zero drop helps with turf toe despite the soft outsole. I'm currently using them as slippers but they almost pass for cute sneakers with the black and white coloring.

My grandson bought me my first pair of Altra racer for Christmas. These shoes are the most comfortable shoes I have ever worn. Wear them all day with no aches or pains. I have rheumatoid arthitis which I choose to tackle naturally these shoes allow me to walk a couple of miles a day without any aches in my feet and seems to help with my overall posture. I tossed out all my other walking shoes and bought a second pair of racers. These are the only shoes that fit the width of the sole of my feet. Thank you Altra! Hope you continue to market these shoes forever.

After an impaired driver broke 13 of my bones, I struggled to find shoes that were comfortable all day and on long walks. I can't wear shoes with any forward slope. The folks at Jus Running in Asheville suggested Altra because the heel is actually slightly recessed. Problem solved! The wide toe area is also great as I have stress fractures in the tops of my feet.
