I love the added cushion in the Torin compared to the Escalante. I've had post-surgical knee complications for 8 years and this shoe helps me run longer and more frequently. Super comfortable. It's not the best for speed work (Escalantes are much faster), but it can still get the job done. I have logged 300+ miles so far and feel it will last a good while longer, probably 500+. No tears yet, and the tread of the outsole is in great condition (it only has one small patch at the lateral side of the heel on each shoe that is slightly worn). Also, some people hate the knit upper, but I don't have anything against it, in fact I kind of like it, especially during the winter; it's warmer than most shoes, but not too warm during summer. Great shoe, I'll be sticking with it.

I have wide feet and it's hard for me to find a good fitting shoe that will give me room to move. Other shoes smash my toes and give me blisters, but not this marvelous design. This is a game changer if you're on your feet and working out regularly. I walk on the treadmill and on the trail and these work great in both places. Thank you so much for giving me back my foot health!

I'm 135 miles in on my first pair. Previous shoe was the Hoka Clifton replaced at 600 miles. The Altra toe box is wider and my toes feel better. The big toes' bunion situation is much improved.
Can we talk about the upper? It's fine. No issues. But I run with thick socks (more cush for those toes). If you had something sharp poking/rubbing the upper I could definitely see it tearing.
The tongue on the Torin has to be the smoothest, most comfortable tongue I've ever felt. It's thin and soft and has a nice bit of cushion. I don't feel it at all. It's perfect. Same goes for the heel tab. The entire shoe is just very comfortable.
This is my first zero-drop shoe and the jury is still out on that for me. My arch tendon sometimes gets a bit sore. I can't say for sure that is related to the shoe. I wouldn't mind a higher arch support though.
Durability. Hmmm. I'm not sure they will last 600 miles. There is a smaller amount of cushion compared to the Hoka Cliftons and for me that cushion really extended the number of miles I could put in prior to replacement. The quality of build and materials had been fine so far. Sole is holding up okay.
Overall I've been very pleased.

I've searched far and wide for the perfect shoe for jumping rope - eureka, I have found it! I jump rope most every day for 30 minutes or so and need a big toe box with lots of cushion in the front part of the shoe without much mushiness. The 4.5 is an improvement over the prior version. The Torin 4's I previously used had some heel slippage and were too mushy. All is now fixed with the 4.5. Definitely a keeper.

Plush and cloud-like while somehow not being too soft and mushy. Great shoe for everyday runs but also lets you pick up the pace for a bit without feeling like you're running in slop. Awesome shoe and breathable too!

Used to run in Escalantes but due to my plantar fasciitis flaring back up I needed a shoe with more cushion. I tried to Torino, which was fine but the Torin plush is great. People are overreacting to the "narrowness" of this shoe. It is not as wide as older models of Altra shoes but it's still more open than other brands and it's not restrictive. Shoes are holding up after 150 miles.

These shoes have the perfect amount of cushion and response for me. And the insides are soft and snug in all the right places.

Awesome zero drop light weight shoe. I run about 20 milles p/wk on pavement. Love this trainer! On my 2nd pair after getting 400+ miles on my first Torin Plush. Fits snug and comfortable and the toe box of course is great. It's about time a running shoe fit the foot instead of the foot having to adjust to the shoe like in other traditional makes/models. I'm sold on the Altra brand!

These shoes are very light weight. Mold to your feet. Are extremely comfortable. And unlike other Altra shoes in the past, show no wear or holes at the Achilles area and the uppers look brand new with no holes. I have put 300 miles on them and my contact soles are showing wear as expected but I probably have another 100 more miles for sure. Tempted to buy a couple more now that I have found the perfect shoe!

I have a normal sized foot. Not narrow, not wide. I love the way this shoe fits. I never had used anything lower than a 10mm drop before. When I tried this shoe on at a local store, it was amazing the moment I laced it up. I had to have a pair...the store didn't have the red ones so I just ordered a raid pair from this website. The cushion almost feels like it is wrapping around my foot and gripping it, yet it still provides nice energy return. My toes have some room to spread out in the toe box, but not too much room. It didn't take me any time at all to "adapt" to zero drop. People that say you need to "ease in" to a zero drop must be confused, because whenever you're not wearing a shoe, you're at zero drop. Greater than zero is unnatural, though they do have their place. I will say that if you're a heel striker, it will take some time to build up your calf muscles if you're transitioning to a forefoot or midfoot striker. After 50 miles there is zero sign of any wear. These shoes have gotten quite a bit of hate from YouTube reviews and also people on this site, and I really have no idea why. One picture I saw here shows the upper almost shredded...I have no idea how someone could do this to their shoes. Maybe they're running through blackberry bushes? For me and I think most, these shoes are and will be amazing.

Incredible support and I have zero pain in my feet, knees and hips now after running. I've actually been able to run farther and longer and my gait has changed for the better now that I'm fully supported and pain free

I didn't like the original Torin 4 plush. . The upper was horrible and the fit was not the same as the Torin 4. I loved the 4 but wished it had the extra cushion of the 4 Plush. Well the 4.5 plush has accomplished that and the upper has been improved ( however the upper could be better with a little more flexibility/ stretch)
I'm on my second pair and can say that these have become my go to road shoes

This is seriously the most comfortable shoe I've ever worn. I work on my feet all day, and other shoe leave my feet sore to the point of knots. This shoe is thin and light weight, but has the feel of a thick cushioned shoe. I now only work in altra shoe, I wear these as well as the Paradigms.

I've suffered plantar fasciitis for about three years now. This is the first show that has fixed my issue. I can't begin to tell you how much this means. Chronic pain issue resolved. Great support. The red color is severely ugly, I get made fun of constantly. European, they say. Whatever. I have blue and dark gray also. The could be the color of circus clown vomit and I would still seek them out. Foot pain? Get. These. Shoes.

Got it for my entire family. After years in Hokas and Brooks this shoe means freedom. And helped me with some feet issues. And is light. And I got another pair just because this is the best shoe I know...

This thing eats up easy miles. It wasn't love at first run, felt a bit ponderous compared to the Escalante and Escalante racer but after 17 miles I love the shoe! Perfect easy day shoe, and I think it'll be a good long run shoe too. Not sure I'd do any workouts in them personally, I think the Escalante and Escalante Racer are much better for workouts since they feel much more nimble, but they also (surprisingly) don't feel mushy at all so they're better than I thought at some light fartlek work. Very comfortable easy day shoe.

New to Altra and a casual runner. I had never used zero drop shoes and eased into them over 2 weeks or so. I absolutely love them!

I purchased a pair of Altas for my husband for Christmas. He told me the other night that they are the most comfortable shoes he has EVER had. That's really saying something because he's no spring chicken :)
