I've been in the Paradigm for years and just love running in them. I was excited to get a new pair in Raspberry (I like bright colored shoes). They were delivered super fast. But's that's were the love ended. I put the shoes on and immediately my foot rolled so much to the outside that my arch came off the floor. I thought maybe I got a bad pair until I read another review that said the same thing. Just standing still was uncomfortable. These are definitely, disappointingly, going back. Not ready to bail on Altra but just heartbroken to have to find another shoe.

Altra keeps making their shoes smaller and smaller. I love the zero drop, but they no longer provide a wide toe box. I'm hoping very much that they bring back the toe box from the duos.

Hard to tell how this shoe would have been if it fit, because it fits way smaller than my Torin 4.5, and my Lone Peaks. I bought my usual size, and have had to return because they are too small. It might possibly work to size up.

This shoe came recommended to me from my PT. I haven't really been able to fully try it it because, like other reviewers have noted, it is too narrow for my feet. My foot is not a "true wide". I'm on the border between regular width shoes and wide shoes. I think I might try the men's shoe in the same size. I have no idea about the other features of this shoe since the width doesn't work for me.

I loved these shoes...except for the tongue. They were like giant fluffy clouds on my feet, felt amazing the instant I slipped them on until I started to lace them up. On my foot, at least, the tongue was exceptionally long and rubbed on my ankle in a way that was a non-starter. But for someone with different ankles, best shoe ever.

I've been trying to find the road version of the Olympus which I love so much and this one was suggested by the site. It doesn't have the same toe box, sadly, which is the most important part of the shoe for me. The narrower forefoot causes me pain, so it doesn't work for me. Please make a road shoe just like the Oly! It's a wonderful cushiony ride if you have a narrower foot (mine still measures normal, but pressure on one area causes pain).

I have worn 2 pair of the men's Paradigm in the past and have loved the wide toe box and great cushion support. I tried a women's style for brighter colors and could tell they were much smaller in the toe box with less cushion support. I'm going back to the men's style

I agree with other reviewers that this update feels a bit narrower. I've been wearing this style for a couple of years and my foot pain immediately went away due to the wide toe box. Switched back to my old pair of this shoe and my feet much better.

Dear altra please bring back more of the 3.5 characteristics into the design of the next paradigm! I miss the 3.5 oh so bad! On both the 4.0-5.0 The toebox is nowhere nearly as large as its predecessor the 3.5 as well as the side of the shoe not to mention the color selection is somewhat limited in my opinion. I bought to blue coral in the 5s and they're cute but a deeper royal blue would've been a better choice also if the color from the Olympus 3.5 gray rose had been available on the paradigm 5.0 that would have been perfect. I normally wear a 9.5 purchased a 9.5 but am pretty sure its 1 size too small and that's why it hurts along the side of my left foot as well as aggravates an old foot injury on my right foot (crushed heel bone). The sizes are always super difficult to fit bc they're very different with every new style the company rolls out. Not that the length doesn't fit my foot that's perfect it's the width of the shoe in general. Material is good and breathable seems durable havent been able wear too much do to the fact they cause pain but I like the feel of the material used and I noticed the laces were shorter on this model but they're about an inch too short.

I've been running in the Altra Paradigm's for a while and have LOVED them. This is the first time that I've worn them and felt frustrated. Not only did they change the comfy upper, but the change in the stabilipods, I suppose, has altered the foot bed of the shoe. Before, the Paradigms were my answer to foot issues and now those foot issues are creeping back. I will continue to run in them because I've already put enough miles on them that they are not returnable, and I don't have the time to do the extensive research it takes to find the right running shoe. But I am definitely frustrated. Why did Altra feel the need to alter an already extremely popular shoe?

Nice cushion, but the toe box is way too narrow. I wish these were set up more like the torin plush. I want something in between the two honestly. I feel like I need support when I wear the Torin plush, but these felt like they almost had too much support it pushed my feet out. That coupled with the narrow toe box pushing on my pink toes meant these had to go back. Sticking with my torin plushes.

Shoe runs small by half a size. Very used to Torin, and the paradigm is not as much cushion.

I am very disappointed in this shoe. I bought them in March and the netting on top is splitting. Also a hole in right big toe area and left big toe area hole is starting. The most wear and tear I ever have on the shoe is the bottom so when the tops of these shoes deteriorated it was disappointing to say the least. The tongue is too thick, it is similar to Asics (That is a reason I do not purchase their shoes anymore.)I thought I would try a new model as I have always loved what I purchased from Altra. I went back to the Escalante model which is much more comfortable.

I am a runner. I have been a loyal customer for years. I need the extra support that you offer in your shoes. The shoes that I purchased the last time are actually crooked. They lean to the outside of each shoe. I pulled the laces tight.. but it is still an issue. I would have returned them but I destroyed the packaging when my shoes arrived. I did this because I have never had this or any other issue with the shoes.

Too stiff, narrower in the toes and feels less cushiony. At times I wear the previous model and even at their age they feel more cushiony. Make them better.

I use Altra shoes for everyday--work, walking, working out. I usually buy Torin 4s--they are great, but have been having trouble getting my size (7.5). Decided to try the Paradigm 5. As soon as I put them on, my toes were in pain, and shortly after my entire foot! Returned them the same day. Maybe the change in the heel angle??? PLEASE make Torin 4 shoes in more sizes again, or make a suggestion to me for an alternative. Love your shoes due to FootShape and wider toe boxes and want to stay with the brand.

I am sad to say that I wore these for 3 hours. That's it . I don't know whose idea it was to make these narrow like every other shoe. They are not worth the money now.

Altra's are my favorite shoes, however the Paradigm 5 is not like the Altra tradional wide foot and narrow heal shoe for women. My pair has the left shoe with the back stitching for the tab straight and the right shoe back tab stitch at an angle. The right shoe definitely does not feel right when jogging. My foot wants to slide out. Hurts my knee so am returning them and choosing a different shoe all together. The cut of the new Paradigm 5 feels like a Niki shoe on my foot. Sad.

These are dangerous on wet surfaces. I really like altras and have had various styles over the years. Overall I like these, BUT I have serious reservations about them on wet surfaces. The traction is terrible... I have slipped both when walking and running. I can’t afford an injury. I’m returning them.

I have the earlier version of this shoe and this version is much narrower in its toe box. There is also the addition of inflexible plastic on the first lace holes that make it impossible to loosen the laces to accomodate a wider foot. I walk between 2-4 miles a day and these shoes wore out and became threadbare on the treads within the first month. The materials used for the base wear down quickly with minimal use. For reference I am petite and under 110 lbs.

It feels to narrow in the ball and it definitely is to narrow in the heal. It left marks right under my ankle and I have narrow heals. I had high hopes for this shoe,
