I probably tried on 20 pairs of road running shoes, from various brands (Asics, Salomon, New Balance, Oncloud, Brooks, other Altras) before I found these. I have flat, slightly narrow feet with low arches and overpronate but like to be able to spread my toes. This brand fits the shape of my toes well and this model works great for my overpronation while running on pavement. I probably wouldn't walk in these because the support/cushioning is so extreme that it would be over exaggerated for just the weight of walking but it's perfect for the impact of running. Maybe a heavier person would do well walking in these (I'm 115 lbs). I'm thinking about buying more pairs because it took me so long to find a good model. I've put about 70 miles on them so far and they don't seem to have worn much at all. They seem well made and should hopefully last for 300 miles.

These are really ugly shoes but they're super comfortable! I have low-volume, low-arch, slightly narrow feet and mildly over-pronate. I usually do fine with neutral shoes if I use an insert to support my arch but with these I don't need that. They do feel like they run small but that's only because of the firm, inflexible, plastic rimming around the edge which inhibits your toes from moving freely and gives the feeling of your toes hitting the end of the shoe. For that reason, I did size up 1/2 size and they feel great. For reference, size 6 in the Escalante 2.5 fits but I had to get a 6.5 in these. I love the cushioning under foot and at the tongue. They are very plush while still providing stability. I took them for a 3.67 mile run today; I didn't push myself at all and just wanted to feel how the shoe felt, and I took a minute off my usual "easy run day" time! Despite the padding, they still feel light-weight and have great energy return. I really love these shoes and am considering buying another pair for back-up. The only improvement that could be made would be to remove the plastic lining at the forefoot so the entire area above the toes is soft and not restrictive.

This is the second pair of Altra Paradigm sneakers. They have extra toe room for workout time, and my heel stays snuggly in position while active. They keep my feet happy while at the gym, and that is more important than it sounds!! :)

Love the Paradigm 5 for general use, colors are great and soooo comfortable

I have been wearing Altra Footwear for at least 9 years. The Paradigm 5 has great arch support and comfort for daily exercise.

Very cute! But this is a snug 7 (it felt to me). Although right on the edge of feeling I needed a half size up these are a comfy snug so decided to stick with them. I am a pretty reliable size 7 and these did feel on the smaller size of the scale.
