These are BEAUTIFUL shoes! Probably the best looking Altras ever. But my size -8 1/2- was so small my feet were just crammed in. And I was surprised at how stiff they are, especially with all the cushioning in the sole. Also - my nemesis- a more narrow toe box. I'm uploading a picture of my Lone Peaks, to compare the toe box with the Paradigms. I NEED that square toe box!! Possibly Lone Peaks are the only Altras I can wear! So sadly I am returning the Paradigms.

They were seemingly perfect ... except for the guiderail. It is on the inside of the shoe, by the heel. I just need a neutral shoe, and this almost pushes my steps outward. So I'm returning them and trying the Torin 4.5

I have tried 4 different brands of kicks. A running friend had this brand. At 62, I have ankel, hip and knee issues. On vacation brought 5 different kicks. Wore these every run. Love them. Would suggest.

This is the 3rd pair of Alta Paradigms I have purchased. I let my last pair get too worn out and was having knee pain I was blaming on other injuries. I started wearing my "new" Paradigms, and my knee pain was gone in a week. Just proves you need to take care of your feet. LOL. Love the toe "splay". Love the cushion. Springy feel. My forever shoe!

They felt a little narrower than expected as I ordered wide but when I put my inserts in they felt too narrow and wanted to slip off in the heel. They have fantastic support for over pronation. Nothing out there better that I have ever found and toe room ok if I didn't have to use inserts for falling arches. A little heavy but made so sturdy and well. Had to return unfortunately but would recommend for anyone who over pronates. Styles aren't the best but sometimes we have to forego that for comfort.
I'd also recommend:

Beautiful shoe. Springy and comfortable overall but the plastic piece that runs the length of the outside edge of the shoe digs into my foot. Sad to return

I bought this a month ago and walk an hour each day. The shoes are comfortable and have good cushioning. However the treads are already worn off on the outer part of the toes so I expect the shoe won't be too durable. I developed a blister on the inner heel where the insole ends and I'm guessing there was irritation right at the insole edge. I tried an arch support insole which gave a deeper heel cup, but it was like walking on rocks and made my foot pads tender. Much, much better with the regular insole. I'm hoping to develop a callous. I like the shoes but they're not perfect. The treads should be of better quality.

I purchased the Paradigm 5 shoes to run in. They fit well, are proportioned correctly, cushioned and extremely comfortable. I am 74 years old, an avid runner and speed walker. I have been wearing them when I exercise on the elliptical and stationary bike also. I haven't found a shoe this comfortable in years! Thank you so much!

I have been buying Altra shoes for the past two years. My go to models have been the Superior and Lone Peak. With a torn meniscus, I felt getting a shoe with more cushion would keep me moving, but I didn’t want to leave the Altra because of the wide toe box (this has been a Godsend!). I opted to try the Paradigm. I first purchased a size 9 but they were cut too small. Returned for a 9.5 and the fit is good (need to tighten the laces a bit better to avoid heel slip). The cushioning is really great and helped keep my gait, without pain from my meniscus tear. I am pleasantly pleased.

It took my some time to jump on the Altra bandwagon but I'm glad I did! I actually have narrow feet and I thought these would be too wide for me, but the shoe itself feels so comfortable and the wide toe box does help a lot. I've been trying to improve as a runner for so long but ended up feeling defeated about being "injury prone." My legs feel more tired running in these as I'm adjusting to less drop, but I've had so much less pain and it's so much easier to recover. I finally see what people have told me about the right shoe making a huge difference. I also got the provision and the Torin to compare, and I enjoy those for walking, but this has the amount of cushioning that I need for running.

Amazingly comfortable. Nice cushy sole. The heel actually fits my skinny foot but plenty of room for my toes.

I have always had issues finding shoes, as I have a larger foot for a woman and many shoe companies dont like to make shoes in my size, and the men's are not made for a woman's foot. I have been on the search for a running shoe with just enough cushion, stability and firmness (not too much or too little). Having arthritis in my big toe joint makes me extra peculiar. I also have very narrow heels, so they slip in a lot of shoes (even with the runner's knot). This shoe does it all- keeps my heels in, is stable, comfortable (extremely), and literally feels like I am running on clouds (never understood that saying until now)! I feel reborn in these shoes! I just have to get used to the 0 drop, which is a major adjustment. Please make more stability shoes in women's size 12!!! I Provision were comfortable but my heels slipped right out, so I couldn't keep them.

I am an "old Borad" - 84 come this May. I have plantar fasciitis (right foot) and a hammer toe (left foot) and a tendency to pronate since childhood - but in these shoes I can walk as a fairly brisk pace on pavement, on dirt, in my garden and on the sand and rocks of the beaches on my state. With the first week of wear, the callouses on my big toe and joint began to disappear! The only thing I notice is that the smallest toe on my left foot is a bit restricted. I prefer the toe box on my old Torin 3 shoes I had - they had wonderful "Splay" room, which I need. I am aware that Altra is not in the business of making orthopaedic shoes - but, yowsa! - these sure are keeping me in the game!!

I have purchased three pairs of these Paradigm shoes and one pair of the Riveria and I love the color on the Riveria but I love the comfort of the Paradigm ones. I am getting over cancer and my balance is bad but these shoes have helped me stand and not fall. The comfort level is the best of any other shoe I have tried.

I was told that the Altra Paradigm 5 would help my feet which are wide in the toe box. These shoes feel wonderful. The foot is cradled in a soft footed.

I purchased these as walking shoes. I overpronate, and as I get older my feet really need more support. These shoes do not allow me to overpronate at all! I have never worn a pair of shoes with this much support without orthotics. I have not tried running in them yet. True to size.

This is my second pair of Paradigms. Very cushioned and comfortable. The only problem I have is that one of my big toes rubs against the top fabric mesh. Seems like there should be slightly more room from the sole, where my orthotic is, to the "ceiling" of the shoe. Also, dirt and sand get in quite easily through the mesh when I wear them for hiking. I realize they are not hiking shoes but I use them for that because of the comfort. These are the most comfortable shoes I've ever had. They fit my heel (which is very narrow) but have plenty of room for my toes. My foot is skinny and does not have a lot of volume so they are slightly big around my instep, but better than most.

Great shoes. I have flat feet and was really surprised how comfortable these shoes are without any orthotic. I sized up a half size because I read they run a little small. I'm very happy with them.

My podiatrist recommended this shoe. I have bought 4 pair and love them. I am a nurse and this is the most comfortable shoe I have ever worn. All my co-workers have gotten them now after I was raving about them as well as staff at my dentist office and my hairdresser. Big fan of these shoes!! I just wish they came in more colors

I was fitted with a half size larger than usual and it seems perfect. NO cramping of Width of my very wide understanding, and light and free. I am 78 and am learning I don't have to creep with these on in rough ground. I desperately needed grippy soles and these are just right!

I have a Size 7 foot, and with sneakers, I generally buy an 8.5. This shoe has helped my over-pronation and knee problems. I ended up buying two pairs in different colors. I searched for months for the right shoe for me and I finally found it.

I have neuropathy in my legs from the knee down as a side effect of my chemo and these shoes allow me to have good balance and I can work six days a week without my feet feeling squished in my shoes. This is my second pair and I will continue to buy them. I have taken my shoe off at work and my customer try it on and then order them. My niece is a runner and she runs in these Altra sneakers and loves them as well.
