Shoe shopping sucks so let me try to be thorough 34, 203lb (lean), 6'1", 24mi/week +gym (definitely heavy runner catagory), average 7:45min/mile in these. Have about 400 miles on my pair and they are holding up great. Minor color wear but nothing else. The width is wide open for a normal foot (my foot is a regular width but I really like VERY wide toe box), the weight is a little heavier but this isn't a speed shoe so who cares. Upper is very secure with no hot spots, midsole shoes no sign of loosing its cushion and is perfectly soft and responsive. Warm shoe but I'm sweaty and run in Florida summers so that's going to be true for anything. Perfect distance or recovery shoe. All the negative comments I've read are really trivial. If you're shopping for a max cushion, wide toe, zero drop shoe then this is it. Don't expect a 7oz rocket and don't expect it to look new after a little wear, it's a shoe after all. Between this and my Rivera I've covered all my runs. That's an awesome speed shoe btw. Keep it up Altra! Maybe ask Nike about color choice though

I wear these all day long. I use them for quick hikes and just hanging out. The combination of support and comfort is outstanding, whether going up or down steep hills on rough surfaces or just walking across a concrete floor. I was hoping they would be a little bit cooler since they have a mesh top, but I'm certainly not disappointed considering the amount of support they have. The guide rail feature has helped tremendously with a chronic problem I have had with my knees. My only complaint and it's a very small one, is that the laces are a little short on my size 10 shoes.

These fit true to size and are comfortable to run in. They look a bit bulky, but are a dream to run in. I recommend these for anyone who who is searching for a sneaker that fits a bit different than a standard mega-brand.
I'd also recommend:

Was experiencing issues with Mortons Neuroma and had to stop running due to pain. These were the first shoes i've been able to run in for 6 months.

I tried these shoes for the 1st time and am very impressed. No more worrying about blisters on my crowded toes. My stride feels more natural making me feel that I could go a much further distance than I ever have done before

I bought these for my husband, who puts serious miles on his shoes and also has a major pronation issue. He usually wears wide width and was skeptical about the fit, but he loves them! I can tell by looking at the wear pattern that they correct his pronation, and they're plenty wide enough for his feet. He's found his shoe. I think I'll try a pair too.

Fifth pair of Altra shoes. I had some of their more casual shoes but needed something with a bit more stability for everyday use. These fit the bill nicely. I even wear them to work.

Doesn't fit my 4E feet. Can't get my foot in it unlaced. On to another shoe to try on.

Great performing shoe! Fit is just a little larger than the Lone Peak. For me the Lone Peak was exactly true to size.

I'm 69 years old and walk my grand dog 3-5 miles almost every day. My current Paradigm 5s are about 6 months old and were great - now I'm replacing them with the same shoe!

Bought these to use on my Precor elliptical. Took about a week for my feet and shoes to "marry" but have been great since and looking to hundreds of miles more!!

Have an older pair I have loved and decided to try a newer version. They are just as comfortable as the older ones but better. Don't run anymore because of age but I walk 2-4 miles a day and they are so comfortable. Just the right support. Thanks

Have a few weeks of running in these. Very comfortable. I own at least 5 other pairs of altras of different styles and these run a bit large compared to other models/styles.

I have severe foot issues the paradigm fits well , provides a wide toebox , allows for custom orthotics to fit well. The Paradigm has maximum comfort and is very stylish. I highly recommend this shoe as well as the complete line up of Altra running shoes. Joe Aliso Viejo California

Altra's wide toe box is ideal for my bunioned feet; more room than any other athletic shoe for my toes to spread out. The Paradigm 5 has more cushioning than the Lone Peak, and the soles are smooth yet have plenty grab and don't act as a magnet for debris

First pair of Altra shoes. This style is what I was looking for in a pair of shoes for walking and daily wear. Very cushioned and the toe box has ample room. Can't wait to purchase another pair.

I am a physician and stand all day. This is a perfect shoe if you have forefoot deformities. The wide toe box is great for the wide forefoot or is you have toe contractures. They wear a little fast and my advise is to put a thomas heel clip on the rearfoot to reduce lateral wear. I recommend this this for most of my patients who wear orthotics.

I am an avid walker and in the last couple of years my feet have been plagued with everything that could go wrong. I not only have flat feet, but also have developed painful heel spurs, corns and a hammertoe on my right foot. I had to stop walking because no shoe could relieve the pain. I decided to give the Paradigm 5 a try and it was a revelation. The fit was perfect for me. The toe box had room for my hammertoe and did not rub against my corns on my little toes. The sole cushioning provided ample protection that allowed me to forget my recurring heel spur. I will buy a second spare pair. Thank you Altra for allowing me to exercise again.

I used to have to use inserts in my shoes to keep my feet from hurting at the end of my shift. However, since I started wearing Altra shoes, I haven't had to use any inserts and my feet don't hurt anymore.

At 77, I have painfully awful feet! Bad arches, terrible insteps, plus. --- you name it. Have worn virtually all makes of sports shoes. These are the only brand of shoe I can wear for 10 hours, the first day I put them on! With no negative effects for the next day. Keep it up, guys!

A substantial improvement over Paradigm 4.5 in terms of fit - the upper feels snug and I can aggressively run down hills without an uncomfortably tight "heel lock" lacing setup. Love the increased underfoot protection vs. Torin as well, and it doesn't feel super heavy at speed.
