This is a great top when light comfort is desired in coolish (50's F for me) weather. It'll do more as part of your favorite layering system. Very comfortable under any outerwear.

Mostly using at the camp after hiking and for sleepping in the tent. Soft and pleasant to wear however would prefer little thicker and warmer material

The fit isn't the best - it's a bit loose for my tastes - does not look as good as the model (not all the shirts fault lol). This is a very warm shirt that you probably won't be wearing much from March through October - so that keep that in mind.Still a good shirt overall though.

This is my fourth wool base layer. I have some with crew necks for more active sports like nordic skiing and fat biking. I needed another high collar version to protect the neck when downhill skiing. I found the XL to be a snug base layer for minimizing bulk. However the neck seems a tad small for the body size. If you have a larger neck you may want to size up. My XL without the neck section fits great too.

This included I know five of these, I really hope this one doesn't hole out like the other four have. I give it a four-star simply because I love this weight zip-t and the fit but gees merino is pretty fragile comparatively speaking. I have a bunch of +-thirty year old heavily used expe->mid weight capilene that look in better shape, ie no holes but more smell :-D . My oldest of these is less than four years with moderate, fall/winter only wear has over a dozen holes in it ranging from a pencil eraser for most of them to a few dime size.

favorite 1/4 zip of all time! But. . . .I had one of these from a few years back and the Large fit me perfectly. Just got a large. . . and sleeves are 3-4 inches too long, and so is the trunk. Fits loosely while the old one was snug. Wondering if I need to wash it to shrink or exchange for a medium. . . .

I was very excited to get my second Merino Thermal Base 1/4 Zip. When I received it, I unwrapped it immediately and noted that if felt lighter and thinner than my current version. I put it on and it also did not feel as warm and soft on my skin. I got it for a good sale price so will keep it, but overall quite disappointed with the apparent reduction of quality and quantity of material.

I have the navy-blue one, and I like it a lot. However, when I bought the "pewter blue Heather" option, what arrived did not match the color shown on the website. What arrived was 100 percent gray and less attractive, while the website shows a powder-blue color. Now I am wasting my time sending it back.

I love the fit, the colors and the feel of the fabric. There is one problem for me though. That colorful strip along the inside of the neckline leaves a rash on the back of my neck, not good.

Nice shirt except the sizing is smaller than typical. Order a large if you are a medium or an XL if you are a large etc.

Have many other smartwool base layers. New sizing doesn't work for me, is very tight fitting, no room to move. Don't think next size up helps as shoulder fit is perfect. They should have left the fit alone. My body type is runner, tall and thin.

Since their 6'1" model wears a medium I chose a small since I'm 5'8" and 150 lbs. What I got I could barely get it over my torso, even without an undershirt. So I ordered a medium which is my normal size because I like it slightly loose. I cold not tell a difference between the S and M. So back to ordering a L maybe it will fit. Paid for next day shipping because I have a ski trip coming soon. Now their website says it will be here in 6 days!!! How is that next day???? Too late for my trip so I'll send it all back now. Absolutely ridiculous

Very disappointed as it was Xmas gift. I really love my other Smartwool. Will be returning this one. Frustrated have to pay return shipping for manufacturer's poor quality control. Should not been sold

The zip collar is very uncomfortable. If it is zipped up, there is a lump under my neck, and to make matters worse, the collar doesn't lay flat if zipped partially. That's why I returned it. If previous designs the collar was comfortable in any partial position or zipped fully. I don't know why anyone thought this collar design was a good idea.

How does this 1/4 zip get such great reviews? Did I get a faulty top? Was the fabric not dyed correctly? It wouldn't be unusual to get dye transfer from a new pair of indigo jeans, but from a Smartwool top??? My husband bought this top in navy and it ruined the leather seats of his BRAND NEW CAR. The stain won't come out. Hasn't even had an oil change yet. I definitely do not recommend this top. I would actually be afraid to wear anything Smartwool unless it was on my feet. Buy at your own risk. Check out the photos. What a sad mess!

Was disappointed in the light weight nature of the garment. I was looking for something with more insulating qualities.
