Ordered this for warmer option in colder weather ...I still prefer the 150 base layer tho.

I generally buy Hot Chilly's brand tops for warmth during the cold season. Please note, the color you see on screen is NOT the color you receive. I was expecting a bright purple. The in person color is a muddy looking almost navy purple. The fabric is kind of itchy. The sizing runs about half a size bigger than normal. The shape is "box like". If you have large, athletic shoulders and a square waist, this is your kind of top.

I like it, but the sizing is weird, especially compared to the jacket.

The sleeves on the crew top are ridiculously long. To the point of being ridiculous! Why did Smartwool make the sleeves so longggg? Does Smartwool think that everyone wants to wear this crew top with these long sleeves???

The one pictured here is not the one I purchased. I got one that looked purple online, and several shades brighter than the one I received, which is just too too dark. I wouldn't have ordered it if the online picture had shown something closer to the true color. I will be returning this one for a refund. And what a bother that is.

The shirt is a little thin/light. It could've been a little heavier. Also the sleeve length is just too long. They should really consider making it shorter especially for petite size people meaning people who are 5 foot 2 1/2 inches in height and shorter. The sleeves is too long and to get it altered is going to cost a lot of money because alterations are very expensive. Everyone is not tall and everyone does NOT have long arms.

I've returned this item because of the fit--the sleeves are too long, and my arms are very long, the torso is also too long, and because of the cut around the shoulders it looks awful on.

The design has changed. There are no longer shoulder panels and the fit is not as nice as it used to be. still great fabric but not what I thought I was buying

The cut on this base layer is really tight around the mid section. It's not the same cut as previous shirts I have purchased. The wool is a bit itchy which it hasn't been in the past. I had to exchange a Medium for a large even though I wore a Medium in the past. Lastly, I use to wear this shirt as a T-shirt on it's own. My past shirts hung nicely, not too tight and not too lose. Not sure if the large will work as a t-shirt. May have to wear under sweaters.

I like Smartwool products. This one was listed as being white, but it had a lot of pastel threads in it. I'd love it if you could make a white base layer. Had to return it.

I had to west multiple layers with this to be warm

I have bought Smartwool products in the past and have really loved them. They have always fit me well and I love the colors and patterns. However, this year, I tried on 2 of the Merino 250 tops and they are MUCH too long. I am 5'4" and wear and XS and compared with tops from prior years, these come much further down. There is way too much material to tuck in and it comes down well below my waist to leave out. I'm disappointed as I have otherwise loved these. Have you ever considered petite sizing?

I loved the color and when I got this it fit great, but within a few hours of wearing it (just normal wear around the house) it stretched out into a baggy frumpy mess. Now I'd have to wear it *over* the sweaters I bought it to go under for it to fit right. I can't believe I spent so much money on this when I've got to relegate it to a pile with my $15 bargain sweatshirts. Very disappointed.

Tight fit. 5'3 165lbs ordered L and M. The medium was way to small and the L was tight too. Rather scratchy feel. I love the quality but trying to return an item is frustrating. It would be helpful to have instant in store credit or something that didn't take 3weeks... I still don't know if my item was lost in the mail or if I am just still Waiting for the refund. But then again it has only been 2wks... I love like the thought of all this shirt does, but waiting to get money back for another order takes a long time. This was my first order from smart wool.

Thinner, Rougher, Worse Fit I agree with many of the recent reviewers Smartwool base layers are unfortunately no longer worth the purchase. I have been wearing Smartwool base layers for over 20 years, but in the last three years the quality has noticeably declined. The fabric has become thinner and feels rougher and more scratchy against the skin compared to older versions. The fit has also changed for the worse: there is too much excess material around the chest, underarm, and back areas, while the torso and sleeves are overly long, resulting in an unflattering and awkward cut. The piece I recently purchased will be returned. It is disappointing to see a brand I trusted for decades move in this direction. Unless Smartwool makes a serious effort to restore their previous quality and fit, it may be time for long-time customers like myself to look for alternatives.

I have purchased smartwool base layers in the past, but their quality has diminished. I purchased this base layer top and another bottom and compared to my other ones. This one is thinner and it feels lighter. Now I know my other one said Merino 250 in the back of the shirt and in the back of the bottoms, but these don't have the Merino 250 logo so I don't know what's going on at Smartwool but they need to get their act together and improve their quality. Also, the items tend to get holes in them, even after having them only for a short period of time the wool tends to get a hole in it. Also for this top, the sleeves are ridiculously long, just ridiculous! They also should consider making petite size clothing for people who are on the short side I bought this top to match the bottoms that I have from a while back so that's why I bought this top because I wanted to match. If I didn't have the bottoms, I would have sent it back.

Website did not accurately represent the color of this item. Looks like pajamas. Returned it.

dont know if i got a bad batch, wore it three times and it has about 5 holes now, the pants did the same thing, i have some unopened one and not feeling very confident about them. my chiro said his is lasting for years and mine have all ripped after one - three wearings. bad batch or is the quality now bad

The sizing of these is so inconsistent for this price. I recently purchased the color "Heather Purple" (very much a plum) in the size medium. I've been really pleased with it because the sleeves actually fit my longish arms, so I thought I'd purchase the black in the same size. Was absolutely shocked at the difference! I kept looking at the label to make sure I didn't accidently purchase an extra small. I put the two next to each other and couldn't believe the comparison, and again I just purchase the other one.

Too long and too snug. Material not stretchy and not as nice as in years past

I really dislike the changes to the shoulder design. The seamlines are now unbecoming and the armpits are saggy. Would you please go back to the old design?

This was too big so I sent it back and wanted to exchange for a XS but have not received it yet.

Color of garment not same as it appeared on the internet.

Don't be surprised like I was: the Moonbeam Heather is not WHITE! Rather, it is a dirty looking greige with faint pink and turquoise heathering throughout. NOT what I was looking for. When it's difficult to provide an accurate display of the color in full garment view, please provide a close-up, zoomed in view of a fabric sample!
