Need to remember NOT to put in the dryer.
It lasts a very long time when not put into the dyer.

Getting older and love my wool sweaters and cardigans to stay warm, but cotton tanks and pullovers just don't add any warmth. It's hard to find something 100% wool and not a blend. I don't wear plastic fibers so this is fantastic. And yes, I did the burn test on some fibers from the seams and it IS 100% wool. I once purchased something that was even stamped 100% wool and it was 100% synthetic (another company), so I am very pleased that this is the real deal and a great weight. If I win a gift card for writing a review, I'm buying another one of these first thing! Great fit and comfortable. No itching at all. It says machine wash but I hand wash and drip dry. Easy peasy.

Every Smartwool product I have purchased to date has more than lived up to its description. So - when planning an upcoming winter backpacking trip, I splurged on a set of thermal base layers. After my first day of below freezing temperature hiking, I came home and promptly ordered another set. My base layers kept me warm without making me hot and sweaty. Looking forward to being comfortable on my January hike.

I run outside all winter long and finally bout this shirt. It is the best cold weather shirt I have bought. Worth every penny! I need to get another one.

I ski about three days a week in winter, and bought one of these years and years ago. It was time to buy another so I was thrilled to see the design, feel and fit remained all these years later. It is my absolute favorite base layer -- from a drawer that has about eight different brands. I always reach for my favorite Smartwool shirt when I need something warm and soft.

Softer than expected, sized up for extra comfort, thinner than expected but still retained heat well - steam came off me when I opened my outer layer in 9 weather. Would buy many more if price wasn't investment level even after new customer promo code.

Buy it. Just spend the money and you won't regret it. You'll never buy anything else besides wool for winter wear again. It's magic. For sizing: I am a 5'6" 120 lbs woman. I take a Small in every color except the Black. If you look at the model wearing the Black, it looks more form-fitting with less 'give' than all the rest... and that's because it is! I had to return the Black in my size. I own three other base layers all sized Small, and they all work perfectly. If I really wanted to order the Black again I would order a Medium. For the bottoms, I take a Medium, and that's because the waist band for the bottoms to designed too tightly as well. The medium offers more give and it more comfortable, even though I 'technically' am a Small. If you're my size, order a Medium for the jackets as well. (Nothing will keep you warmer in the freezing cold than a 100% merino wool base layer, a regular T-shirt on top, and either one of their Smartloft jackets or Active Fleece Full or 1/2 Zip Pullover. It's incredible how warm that combo is.)

If you layer up with Smartwool, it feels like "winter doesn't exist." Start with this 100% merino wool base layer, throw on a cotton T-shirt (or whatever) for style, and then add a Smartloft jack (or Active Fleece Full or 1/2 Zip) on top. It's amazing how effective they are together.
For sizing: I am 5'6" 120 lbs. I take a small in the base layers, but medium in any jacket. (For extra mobility and comfort in the legs though I have switched to a medium in the pants base layer. The waist band is less restrictive and more comfortable.)

Have seen minus 70 degrees in Alaska and know this would be a great added layer of warmth to any clothing. It is so soft and comfortable! This is the Best under layer I have ever worn.

This top is so functional and flattering. I usually go for size small but chose to get a medium since I hate the feel of a tight base layer. The medium is so comfortable, not tight in the armpits even with wide shoulders and breasts. I have been wearing this top around my house in the cooler winter weather, on dog walks, snowshoes, and even skating in -20C and have yet to catch a chill. Better yet, the print is STUNNING!! I bought this top in the flower pattern and cant get over how pretty it is. You could wear it as a regular shirt, but even just seeing the pattern beneath a sweatshirt collar looks nice.

I'm so happy with my black long sleeve top. I've literally already gotten my cost per wear on it, it keeps me so warm and is not itchy. If I didn't just get laid off I would get the leggings asap!! I've already raved about Smartwool on my TikTok, it's such a better investment for natural fiber base layers than heattech.

Every season I treat myself to a new classic merino base layer crew. So comfortable and warm and just the right thickness.

This is just the best design ever! But beyond cute, this shirt is so comfortable and soft! I sized up from the size guidelines, because it's close fitting. But I probably could have gotten a large and been fine as was suggested. It's a wear this every time it's clean kind of shirt. A winter staple for sure, especially if you live to be outside! It can be layered and worn alone . I feel cozy and warm . I will definitely buy more!

Usually I'm pretty sensitive to itchy fabrics (which wool has a reputation for), but this is so soft! I haven't had any sort of discomfort with it. Plus, it keeps me warm as a thermal layer or even as a regular shirt. And I love the design!!

The color palette is a perfect fit for my typical wardrobe. It is a very soft and comfortable layering piece with a vest jacket.

I use this for winter hiking. I have another Smartwool base layer and was expecting a second the same. However, this one is a heavier weight than I was expecting. Still comfortable, very warm, and I love the colour. Fits perfectly.

This is the perfect underlayer - warm, moisture-wicking, and thin enough to fit easily under clothes.
