I size up one size on these tops because they're very fitted. Once I learned to do that I've been very happy with them!

Every Smartwool product I have purchased to date has more than lived up to its description. So - when planning an upcoming winter backpacking trip, I splurged on a set of thermal base layers. After my first day of below freezing temperature hiking, I came home and promptly ordered another set. My base layers kept me warm without making me hot and sweaty. Looking forward to being comfortable on my January hike.

I've worn Smartwool base layers for years. I wear a medium in most tops, but smartwool seems to run small. So I just order up! A large is still form fitting, but less tight under the arms than a medium would be on me. I have a long torso and long arms, so I only wish there was a tall size that added a couple inches in length on the torso and arms, WITHOUT changing the slim fit. Still, it is my favorite baselayer all winter, as well as for bed on cold nights!

I'll be using as a baselayer to keep me warm during runs when the temperature dops below 20 degrees Fahrenheit.

This is a go to first layer for me in the late fall and winter. It's warm, comfortable and easy to put a layer on top of.

I have worn this base layer around the house and for casual outdoor activities, so haven't put it to a real test yet. But so far I love the color and how it fits. Sometimes base layers can be sooooo skin tight that they are uncomfrotable to wear on their own, but this one is not like that! It is flattering and fits great, and is soft and warm. The only thing I am concerned with happening is the cuffs/sleeves stretching out if I pull them up, as they are already a bit loose. But not a deal breaker, and would not discourage me from wearing it. Overall, nice baselayer and excited to test it out in Iceland in the spring!

I like the look and feel of this top. The Smartwool baselayer pants that I have in this style are warm and cozy; I assume the top will be as well. If you have highly sensitive skin, you may feel a slight itch, but it's not bad.

If you layer up with Smartwool, it feels like "winter doesn't exist." Start with this 100% merino wool base layer, throw on a cotton T-shirt (or whatever) for style, and then add a Smartloft jack (or Active Fleece Full or 1/2 Zip) on top. It's amazing how effective they are together. For sizing: I am 5'6" 120 lbs. I take a small in the base layers, but medium in any jacket. (For extra mobility and comfort in the legs though I have switched to a medium in the pants base layer. The waist band is less restrictive and more comfortable.)

Really comfy. Not super thick but warm enough for a base layer. Only con is that every little dog/cat hair clings to the fabric like crazy.

Perfect fit! Comfortable with a light airy feel. Great as an underlayment in cold weather. Doesn't bunch up or feel bulky. Wicks away perspiration and lets air circulate on your skin. Love Smart Wool!

Perfect and warm to layer or wear by itself. The pattern is interesting and fun. I also love how long the shirt is so it can be tucked into your pants or left out.

Have not worn it yet, but it washed well. I've bought these before. One is a print and another is solid burnt orange which both have washed and held up well. I also bought the solid light blue one. That one did not do well. It pilled after washing and seems thinner than the others. Mostly a good product and I will buy again.

I like this shirt a lot, it is soft without being too fleecy or making me sweaty and is warm so it is great for layering with a vest etc. I have another Smartwool long-sleeve in the same size that fits better so I feel like this thermal in particular fits small
