I have bought J & M for years but within the last 5 years the quality I am noticing is lacking. I have bought the tassle loafer and the heel make noises in every pair that I have bought. The heel is not made with any strength and you almost have to walk stiff for the not to make as much noise. I don't know if they are not using enough glue or what but I will not be buying these shoes anymore.

These were RIDICULOUSLY tight in the width (ordered EE). I had to return them. Was very bummed because they are good looking shoes and hard to find the style. If you have *very* narrow feet, they should be fine.

I like the fit and would have kept them but both shoes squeaked when I walked and my concern was the squeak would never go away - so I returned them.

Grossly miss marked, way narrower than other wider shoes, I bought 2 pairs and had to give them away. I though they were too tight because they needed breaking in but no way, they killed me! Very disappointed!

The heel leather was not tapered at the top so my heel kept sliding out. I couldn’t go a size smaller nor smaller width. I’ve been wearing shoes for over 70 years and I’ve not had this happen before. Something is wrong with how it was sewn. So I returned them. This is the second pair I returned, the first one shoe was a half size larger and the same thing happened, my heel kept sliding out. I won’t be buying Johnston & Murphy shoes, nor even trying.
