Historically I buy Johnston Murphy shoes for the comfortable fit. I don't feel these shoes fit that brand image at all. Maybe my fault, I went with a lower price model and they just are not nearly at the comfort level I have come to expect from the Johnston Murphy brand. I'm still recovering from blisters on the back of my heel.

I have three pairs of Holdens. This is only pair which is chewing achilles tendon big time. Very uncomfortable.

Right away these felt small, but thought I’d give them a shot- not all shoes are ready to go like the Eccos I’ve been buying for years. Short version is that these were painful after 3 hours and i was thrilled to get them off my feet.
Finish was somewhat lackluster and varies from trying to shine and matte on the same shoe. The soles were a peculiar sort of squishy, almost like a well used flip flop.
Am thankful for the Zappos return policy. They go back this week.
I'd also recommend:
Used to be Ecco only, but they’re still doing business in russia.

Like the look and comfort but they were too narrow with my orthotics so had to return and will try a bigger size

I returned them. Didn't like the style. Looked like old man shoes

They look great but give my son blisters .. very expensive and he most likely won't wear them again . Try them in the store this was a costly mistake .

I have the same size in a different finish and these are not like those! One foot is tighter than the other, and both gave me blisters from being unpliable on the back heel. I'll stretch them a bit and see if I can soften the heel as they look decent.

It doesn't fit; smallest 9.5 shoe I've ever tried. I gave it two stars for the look and the seemingly nice sole and the light weight.

I wear a 13 and the shoe is cut undersize. The shoe was very tight on my feet and I had to return them.

I have always worn a size 10.5 W Johnson Murphy size. This shoe was not correctly sized.

Wearing these shoes caused a lot of pain, bruising and soreness on the back of my ankle where the rigid back top of shoe rubbed it raw. They are poorly designed and constructed.

Ordered these in black and was expecting a white sole, since other instances of non-white soles on website are specifically mentioned in the description. These soles are gray, not white. Not clear from picture and not what I wanted at all.

Disappointing fit. I bought two pair of J&M at the same time. Both were 10 1/2 W, but this shoe was 1.5" longer than the other. The width seemed right. No indication in the description that it was built on a strange last, but it looked like a clown shoe on me.

I returned the shoes. They were not comfortable and the construction of the sole did not feel very high quality. The insole was not very substantial either. I ended up purchasing Ecco hybrid and was much happier. I suppose this shoe is a low cost substitute for an Ecco or Cole Haan hybrid but it misses the mark.

Shoes look good as expected but got a blister on the back of my foot the first day I wore them. The back part is hard (feels like an old style shoe you need to break into in a painful way ...)

I ordered a third pair of Holden's, after really liking the fit of the first two. The third pair is in Navy and it's narrower and longer than the other two. The Navy doest fit well and my foot slides around when walking. There is also white top stickhing that was not shown in the magazine from J &M. I called customer service and they would not return after I wore them. I assumed they would fit the same fit as the first two pair, so wore them out right away. I'm now a very disappointed customer.

To be clear, I did not even remove both shoes from the box, never mind trying the fit. They looked to have been tried on, slightly scuffed, returned and restocked, then delivered to me. They appear to be quality shoes but I prefer to break them in and damage them myself. They were packed more securely for return than how they were received, that may have played a small part in my disappointment. Good luck, I'm going elsewhere.

I ordered an 11M & the shoes I received are marked as 11M but let me tell you, they are at least 2 sizes smaller than that.

I picked a pair these shoes up last year to put in the rotation, I probably wear them twice a month and I just noticed today around the ball of my both of my feet. The soul is separating from the top part of the shoe. Huge disappointment because I don't think this can be fixed.
