These in no way should have the label water proof or resistant on them. My feet got wet from just walking through damp grass throughout the day. I am extremely unhappy with these. Also the right shoe did not fit correctly. It dug into my pinky toe. I never had that problem before. I had the ultra fast pack III gtx's before these and they were great. No complaints about those, my feet never got wet but they were goretex but of course they do not have them anymore. They tricked me with their future light waterproof technology scam and made me believe it would work. Anyways if you want a shoe that keeps your feet dry from light activity then DO NOT purchase these.

As other reviewers have noted, this product is not, as falsely advertised, waterproof. After 30 days and approx. 10 uses, socks wet through just from walking on damp grass. Not even rain or snow.

I was looking to replace my awesome old original North Face Back to Berkeley hiking boots that I have summitted tons of 14ers in and loved and cherished, fixing them and keeping them going way past how long they should have, despite the protestations of friends and family. They were still waterproof even. I don't know how old they are. Ten years? I bought these ignoring the reviews that said they weren't waterproof even though it says they are waterproof. I thought they got a bad boot or something. Well after wearing these just a few times they have totally let me down in snow and my feet are freezing cold and soaked to the bone. The boots aren't as comfortable as my old Back to Berkeleys either. I'm really disappointed in the loss of quality in North Face products. I hope the company isn't going down that dead end trail of low-quality, high-profit, cheaply made items. Returning these and just going to buy another brand I guess.

This shoe is leaking and not waterproof after just 6 months. States there is a warranty but you have to pay the shipping and a cleaning fee. Not a very quality product and way overpriced!

I have taken these boots out a handful of times in a variety of different conditions (mostly wet, as I live in the PNW). Unfortunately, they are in no way waterproof. It would be difficult to argue that they are even water resistant. I first thought that the leaking issue might have been my fault. I've read that technical waterproof materials like FutureLight and Gore-Tex can be compromised by dirt and skin oils. I have tried carefully washing and drying the material on several occasions, but the material still leaks like a sieve each time I take it out in the wet. I'm not even sure where the water ingress even is at this point, as there doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to it. I'm pretty sure it came in through the sole on my most recent trip, but I also noted quite a bit of water in the toe area. When I first inquired about warranty care with a local The North Face outlet, they advised me that I'd need to pursue it with The North Face customer service directly, since it was purchased from the web store. The online customer service agent informed me that I'd have to ship it back to them on my dime and wait several weeks without my boots for warranty service to be completed. To me, this speaks to the lack of customer service at The North Face. It's unfortunate that they don't stand behind their product. This was my first purchase from the company, and will be my last.

I have had these shoes since May/20. Soon after starting to wear them the mesh near the outside of my toes began to fray and shortly after that area began to leak badly. They also have a very cushy sole which provides poor stability and perhaps contributed to the fraying.

To echo another user, these boots are comfortable right out of the box, but if you even look at a puddle your feet will be wet. Just got back from a 60km multiday hike and my feet were soaked within the first 2 hours just from light moisture making the rest of the trip blister prone and miserable for my feet, not to mention the foam sole peeling away from the edge of the boot exterior. This is the first time I've been disappointed by North Face, having used a lot of their gear. Will definitely avoid their boots going forward.

Initially I loved these boots. They were comfortable and looked good. But when I took them on their first backpacking trip near Meeker, CO it snowed and they immediately started leaking at the toe. Wool socks were no match for soaking wet cold boots. They never dried out, and my feet were wet for three days. I own other North Face gear (including the rain pants I brought on this trip), but this was my first try with their footwear. I am incredibly dissatisfied with the performance of these boots.
