As a shoe it is 5 stars. However I bought the waterproof version. It is not waterproof at all even brand new. Went backpacking using waterproof gaiters. First trip with shoe as well and was wetted our first hour. I love the show but wish I had not payed more for waterproof. The older traditional models do their job. However I switched to these recently because older models started to fail out of box as well so I bought these. I understand waterproof is only temporary but I would expect a few hundred miles before it failed.

I bought these for my trip to devils path in New York. Shipping was extremely slow. It took almost two weeks to receive my shoes vs My keen order that only took 4 days from time of purchase. I love the way they fit and I thought that they were super comfortable but they just aren't durable. After one day of hiking the toe of the sole started to separate. I call to see what they can do and they want to exchange them which is awesome but the fact is I have to now find a box to ship back a pair of muddy/defective shoes and I'll wait another 3 forevers to get a replacement pair. I'm extremely disappointed that a company that is supposed to sell a durable hiking shoe push's a product that doesn't hold up on the trail. Really expected better. I have to give this a two because although they are comfortable what good are they if they don't hold up.

I think I bought my first pair of Chameleons around 2001-2. It was the first time that I stepped into a shoe and it was perfect. This new pair is my 5th pair since then. I still have my last pair from 2010 that I use for lawn work. The new pair is radically skinnier... Why!!! I want the old wide style back!

I bought a pair around four months a go and only wore them a 1/2 dozen time's . The right shoes makes a very noticeable noise when walking and is very annoying. I also tried insoles in them and hasn't helped at all . I can actually take my hand and push down inside the shoe and make the noise with my hand .I can't wait them to the office because it . They are a black one's water proof .
My very first pair was the Charcoal pair, and still wearing them and love the shoe very comfortable, I've had them for a year and a half now . But very disappointed in the 2nd pair..,

The shoe busted on me during a hike. My heal kept popping out and I had no traction or support anymore. The way it busted, I have no clue how it occurred but it wasn't a gradual tear. It ripped open on a step. More like it busted open down the whole sole.

Width is so tight. I have worn for a month and they are extremely uncomfortabl and Merril only offers 1 width for this shoe. I'll stick with Danmers next time. Verry disappomted. You can return but not if they are worn. How can you tell they will wear comfortably without wearing the darn things. Never again. Put them back in the box and off to goodwill.

I wore these around the house for about 4 hours before returning them. They are totally black, even though the photos look dark green & grey. The laces are very stretchy, so they were 8" long once cinched up and I had to find a way to tuck them in somewhere or trip on them. The shoes are very stiff and uncomfortable, and slip off my heel when walking. I had some great Merrell quick drying shoes years back, but of course they stopped making them and this version is terrible.

With the chameleon cuff it was way too difficult to put them on. They have been returned.

Totally disappointed ! I have bought and worn these boots for years and the quality has gone down the toilet. I bought these boots about a month ago and they are totally not waterproof ! Barely water resistant anymore .

The shoes are not comfortable once I get them on. They have 3 major issues: (1)The stretchy laces are too long after I tighten them up. (2) I feel like I'm going to twist my ankle when I walk in them, the soles are too narrow. (3) I returned the first pair because the first time I put them on the material at the back of the ankle bunched up and it felt like I had loose socks on. The replacement did the same thing. Note: I haven't used them to go hiking yet and I dont think I will.

I was very excited by this new style, and I'm a dedicated Merrell fan/customer. I was sorely disappointed. It's not evident unless you enlarge the photos and look very closely at the photos, but these shoes don't have a normal tongue opening for your foot; instead, they're like a tight neoprene booty with a shoe attached, without the stretch of neoprene to insert your foot. I wanted a standard shoe that I could loosen to take on and off, then tighten for wear. These have a fixed, tight opening that doesn't stretch much and can't be loosened. I couldn't even get my feet in them. Perhaps they have a use for some, but buyers should be very careful, examine these closely, and understand what you're getting before you purchase.

I LOVE Merrell shoes. I've been living in different versions of the Moab for 10+ years at least.
Unfortunately I had to return these. Way to difficult to put on. The neoprene type material that forms the watertight seal around the ankle is very tight, and that makes very difficult to get pulled up over your sock without it bunching up. This design also put a lot of pressure on my instep which made them very uncomfortable. Bummer.

I could barely get the shoe on. It is much smaller and narrower than other Merrell styles in the same size. I am returning them.

Too narrow. Can't seem to get them to break in. Definitely the most uncomfortable Merrell shoes I have ever owned.

This is so sad. My old pair (women's wide) from a number of years ago are falling apart. This shoe style (slip on neoprene sleeve) no longer comes in women's, so I thought that I'd give the men's a shot. I loved the slip on style. But TOO Narrow! They are a full 3/4" narrower than my older women's style. Why did you have to change the footbed and no longer give us an alternate wide foot choice?? Wah! Let me know if you change them back. p.s. - my son, who also has wide feet, will not be able to replace his, either...

Since the first time I tried my first pair of Merrells, have always stayed loyal to this brand because they are very comfortable (have purchased 8 pairs or more of different types) I have been trying to purchase these in size 12 since the first time they came out but every time I try to add them to the cart they are no longer available in this size. It's very disappointing never seeing these in stock. I have even gone to several Merrell stores in Michigan, Ohio and Indiana and never available.
I guess it's time to start looking at other brands. Bye bye Merrell, loosing a loyal customer for years!
