The eyes at the top of the shoe that hold the laces are not very strong

This is my 4th pair. I love them. However this is the first pair that has not been true to size. Disappointed in that but otherwise they are great.

Happy At first but somewhat disappointed now. These shoes are supposed to be waterproof. They are not. Anytime I walk in snow my feet become wet and cold.

My Merrell Chameleons were delivered last week, and I have worn them every day since they arrived. This is an amazingly comfortable shoe. They fit and feel wonderful without any break in period. So you can only imagine how great they will be in six months. Fits like a glove for the feet.
The one drawback is the drawstring lacing system. Not my cup of tea. The problem is that when I pull the drawstring tight I have a full eight inches of left over elastic lace that needs to be somehow tucked in or stored unless you want to risk the danger of tripping over the loop. Not good. Fortunately it is easy to see how to convert the shoes to a standard lace. I ordered them immediately.

Purchased these 2 weeks ago and they are comfortable. Only complaint I have is the elastic cord. It is very long and am having to tuck it under other rows of the elastic cord in front to get the fit snug enough.

I just got these boots and wore them to work a couple times to break them in. They didn't need much to break in. I then took them on a backpacking trip into the Uintah Mountains in Utah. They worked great. They were comfortable and I didn't get any hot spots or blisters. They had great traction and arch support. I have Plantar Fascitits and the boots gave me good support and my feet felt good. The only issues I had were with the height of the boots on my ankles. The boot doesn't go up my ankle as far at the Moab boots and rocks got into my boot. The laces are cool but the plastic clip seems a bit cheap and it got stuck a few times. I think it is on the verge of breaking. Merrell could do a better job on the plastic lace clips.

Fits to size for me. Footbed is not as comfortable as the other pair I bought a few years back. Easy on and off.

Easy on and off. Good water protection. Would have been 5 but speedlace broke on left boot 1st day in the Hoosier National Forest Dream Wilderness Area. Still good boots. Tied a knot and hiked on.

Size and fit are awesome like always. My 3rd pair of these shoes and still love them to this day BUT, why in the heck are the shoe laces so freaking long!!! I mean when you pull them tight you have to figure out how to hide 3ft of laces which is just dumb.

First these are very comfortable and pretty light. Vibram sole has aggressive tread, good grip on wet rocks. The only thing I don't like about these is the quick-tie laces. To get them tight on my average, medium feet, I had to pull them about a 12" out to cinch tight.... and there is no where to put that extra length. I replaced with 45" regular round laces, non-stretchy. Nice shoes but ditch the stretchy laces next go-around.

I would give these 5 stars if it wasn't for the problem I seem to have with some Merrells. For whatever reason, sometimes when I get a pair, one of the insoles pushes painfully higher into my arch than the other. I've been wearing Merrells for almost 15 years, this seems to be a new issue within the last 5 years.
I usually buy Merrell in stores, so I can try on different pairs and find one that doesn't, but nobody carried the Chameleon 8's within 100 miles of me at time of purchase (which is crazy, because I live within 75 miles of Tampa and Orlando).
It didn't seem too bad at first, so I kept them. But, over the last few weeks, they've become unwearable. I'm switching out the insole, hopefully that will help.
All that being said, these Chameleons are otherwise excellent. The laces aren't too long (as others complained of), they're well built, and look great.
I'm only docking one star for the sizing issue, because it seems like a random issue that doesn't apply to every pair. I would absolutely recommend buying these.

The waterproof chameleons fit seem to be smaller in size than the regular chameleons fit. Hopefully they'll stretch out after time.

Replaced an old Merrill that was similar but I wanted one that is waterproof. So far a great shoe but a little hard to get into with the elastic cuff. I hope it will streatch out. Still a great , comfortable shoe.

I just bought a pair of Chameleon 8 stretch Waterproof Butternut color. The inside tag is on the side of the shoe while most are on the front inside. And the tag looks different. Are these authentic?

Really liked these shoes, they are great for everyday and for a hike. They did well on the rocky creek beds and caverns.

I've been a Merrell fan for years, and I still am -- I'm on my fifth or sixth pair of Jungle Mocs and I hiked in Moab 2s for a long time. But I don't think much of Merrell's "waterproof" claims. Within the past year or so I bought my second pair of Chameleon 8s and moved up to Moab 3s for serious hiking. In both cases I decided to spring for the "waterproof" versions. The morning after a heavy desert rain I took my dog out in the desert, wearing the Chameleons. After about ten minutes in new, wet, desert grasses -- 2-3 inches high -- my heels were dry but my toes were good and wet, and my first hike in the Moab 3s in longer desert ground cover, also after some of our winter rains, took a good deal longer but produced a similar result: dry ankles/heels, wet toes. I remain a Merrell fan, but I'd be wary of the waterproof claim. Maybe save the extra bucks.

Shoe, Chameleon Black/Grey waterproof
I've been using merrell products of some type for 25+ years. Have always been more than happy with quality, fitment, and value for your dollar. Work construction all my life so my shoes take a beating. Over the last 4-5 years I have noticed the material and construction of my shoes going south. Pairs that would last me 2 or so years are just not capable of it anymore. Current pair (13 months old) has a stitching failure in the back outer heal area. Pair prior (mid height waterproof boot) completely cracked apart after 12 months. Hard to say it isn't quality control issue when the pair before that lasted 2.5+ years. Only reason I had to get new was because I completely wore out the soles. Sorry to say this but it maybe time to move onto another brand.

I did not keep these. They were extremely hard to put on my feet. The quality was good but the soles were too extreme for work on a golf green. For a everyday hiker, these would be exceptional. I found a pair of vapor glove 4s that work out alot better.
