Bought these about 6 months ago. Took awhile to break in. They are durable, hopefully like the pair of Merrell I had previously for 23 years!

I absolutely love the shoes it's my second pair!
However! I wish your size 8 came in a wide toe box. That is the only thing keeping you from a five-star rating! But I'll probably buy another pair next year

Accepting this as a substitute for my first choice (returned - first time a Merrill fit like a boat for me), it stays on, is slightly uncomfortable and I have little confidence in the pull cord lacing system's longevity. At least I have a tolerable pair of shoes until I can try a different brand.

I'm a huge fan of Merrell products the does are super well built unlike the sneaker companies.
The shoes have great support and last forever.
These particular shoes are real uncomfortable on my feet for some reason. My feet end up hurting after walking in them. I'm used to the Moab shoes which are the absolute best shoes on earth. It could just be my feet but the chameleon shoes are not for me , but super well built..

Absolutely love these shoes. This is the 3rd pair I've owned. Have to say I was disappointed with the waterproofing on the ones I bought most recently. Walking in wet grass, and water got into the shoes and got socks wet. Not great waterproof, but still love the shoes

Merrell shoes have been great for working and hiking outdoors. This shoe, and a former style no longer made, has the elastic opening that seals most things out of the shoe when in outdoor messes. This new style is not as good. The soles/tread seem to wear our very fast even on grass areas and two previous pairs tore where at the seem between sole and side fabric.

Great sneakers, bought the Chameleon about 15 years ago and never switched back. One flaw on the new model, the fabric & foam where your heal is wears excessively fast so now my heal is against a piece of plastic.

I bought these 5 months ago, but haven't used them until now that I am back to work and they are loud when walking around. The squish or squeak that comes from the heel everytime you take a step is ridiculous.

Not a fan of the shoelaces and needs a little more padding in the heel area toward the top there is a material joint there drives me nuts. Beside that a well build shoe.

My wife and buy buy upwards to three pairs Merrell shoes a year, mostly Gore-Tex or waterproof walking hiking shoes. My latest purchase in October of 2019 was a pair of men's Chameleon 7 waterproof. We have constantly been disappointed in the staying power of the laces and after wearing out not being able to purchase like replacements. The laces on this last pair didn't last even 4 months of everyday wear.

The elastic quick laces quickly came apart at the seam. The sole was soft and wore out quickly. I would not get another pair.

The 8's are nothing like the Chameleon 7's, which I loved and really wanted another pair. I had 3 pairs of 7's and they were great, lightweight and really flexible. The 8's feel like I am wearing a work boot, really rigid, little flex, and tight feeling, but not in a good way. I have bunions and the 7's conformed to them without putting pressure, which is why I liked them so much. 8's put a lot of pressure on my bunions making them uncomfortable to wear after a few minutes.

Bought these for tooling around rugged NH. Prior Merrell shoes all reliably comfortable, durable, and true to size. These initially felt comfortable. Then they began to hurt only at rest: fine when weight-bearing, but like a tightening vise when seated or driving. Ultimately unbearable.

After 5 pairs of Moab WP over the last 8 years, I decided to give the Chameleons a go. Unfortunately, it was not a good move for me. I'm a men's 9-1/2. EEE width left, EEEE right. I have a high, thick midfoot (Pes Cavus) In other words: A high-volume foot profile. Surprisingly, I am having problems with these shoes that are the opposite of lack of space. I've only worn them twice, and am finding much too much movement in them. I've only worn them with the Merrell recycled low cut tab hiking socks. The first outing was a "hike" up Stone Mountain in Georgia. Hike is in quotations because it is more of a walk up and down a few hundred vertical of bare Appalachian granite. My feet slid around and lifted in the shoes resulting in a pretty significant blister on my right heel. My second use of the shoes was taking a few short hikes at Valley of Fire, NV. These were all mostly through fine red sand with a few rocky sections and with little climbing and descending. Again: My feet were all over the place inside the shoes and the same blistering occurred. The problem seems to be the elastic lacing system. I simply cannot get them tight enough to get adequate support and minimize movement. I live in the central Colorado Rockies, and have some serious hiking and backpacking right out my back door. Unfortunately, these shoes won't be venturing out in any of it, and will be relegated to just wearing around. Looks like I'm back to the Moabs, which BTW should be laced with flat laces. The heavy, round laces they have always come with don't like to stay tied unless tightly double-knotted. (or replaced when new)

Disappointed with the new design. In the past I have only wore this model of shoe. The new design is narrower than the old. The new design is 1/2" narrower than the old. There isn't a wide offering. Other than that I love the shoe! Please make a wider one.

Several months ago I got these, but since it's summer months, there hasn't been a significant time with high grass, and long standing moisture.
My right foot today, on both occasions walking, have become what can only be described as SIGNIFICANTLY moist. Not quite to the point where ringing my socks can get water, but not far from that point.

These shows are much more narrower than a previous pair of similar Merrill shoes. I've just worn them 3-4 times and they're uncomfortable. These are now regular width size but perhaps narrow.

I've owned Merrell shoes since the early 1980's
I bought three pairs of these. They fit perfectly and are extremely comfortable. However, they all squeak when you walk in them. One pair so badly that I had to return them. I'm 74 years and old hard of hearing so I'm not overly sensitive to sounds. Merrell I don't know what you did but you lost the secret sauce when you made these.

Very unhappy with this shoe. It has a tall sole with a narrow base that is rounded on the outer sole and flares upward. This makes it very unstable. Just walking around the house I end up rolling my foot. I can't imagine trying to hike in these. They are going in the trash so I don't end up with a severe ankle sprain.

This is my third pair of Chameleon shoes. But my first pair of waterproof. I have used shoe stretchers multiple times but cannot get the same comfortable I've enjoyed in the non waterproof Chameleons. I will still choose my older faded pair over these newer ones. Simply for comfort.

I've put around 25 miles on these now over a good variety of terrain, and Ive come to the conclusion I really don't like these shoes. For starters, they fit small, I've worn size 13s over a decade, but the toe boxes on these feel a little cramped especially after a few miles of hiking. They also feel sloppy on more rocky uneven terrain with the stretchy laces, there's no amount of adjustment that makes them feel snug. This is supposed to be a versatile shoe suitable for long distances, but I wouldn't recommend it for anything other than short hikes on flat terrain, and even then I'd take running shoes over these.
The couple positive notes I have is that the waterproofing seems to work well and the sole is pretty comfortable.

I bought these about a month ago. I've warned Merrill's for years and but all the different versions of this shoe when they came out but this one is horrible. Lacks support and feels poorer quality then previous versions. I loved the Chameleon 7 and thought that it would be great with added improvements. Big disappointment. If I hadn't worn them outside to test them out I would have returned them.
