One Star. Can't use them. They rub the underside of my right inside ankle and left ankle Felt fine around the house. After a hour on the trail my ankle started getting sore. After 2-12 hours I wanted to trash them. I will never wear One Star. Can't use them. They rub the underside of my right inside ankle and left ankle Felt fine around the house. I bought this shoe as an upgrade to hiking in trail runners. They claim to have great traction even in wet conditions. Yesterday whilst hiking in the Scottish mountains I slipped on no less than 10 occasions. This was on a mixture of rock, grass and bog. I'm extremely disappointed by this product and will not be wearing it again. A complete waste of money and now I'm on the hunt for a new pair of trail runners.

OMG - This is the worst pair of boots I ever had. I have bought Merrell boots for years, I currently have at least three pairs, four if you include the pair I am reviewing.
I wore the boots around the house for 5 or 6 hours, to be certain of the comfort level prior to possible scuffing them before wearing them outside.
Every morning I walk 3 miles at 5 am, it's an easy walk so I figured I would try my new Merrell boots which I had planned on taking overseas with me in October for some climbing and hiking in Peru.
Wrong - OMG - my feet hurt so bad I could not do my daily walk for three days. My left sole hurt like the dickens, I still feel it more than a month later.
So my review is one star for this pair of Merrell's that I most likely will never wear again !

I bought these boots on May 26th. I did normal weekly hikes usually about 7 to 8 miles. By July they were already falling apart with the soles coming off. I filled out the appropriate form with pics to Merrill and they refunded me 100% within 3 business days with an E-Card to use on another purchase. Both boots are coming apart in multiple ares. Kudos to Merrill for a quick refund. At least the customer service was really good.

I'm on my third pair of "waterproof" MOABs. In terms of comfort, support, and fit these are my go-to boots. I literally wear them everyday and used to wear them when hiking or camping. As for being waterproof, that will only last for several months to a year. Walk across a dew covered lawn, as I did yesterday, and your feet will be soaked. Merrell replaced one pair because of this and that pair also failed. There's no indication of when they're going to fail. One day your feet are dry, the next they're soaking wet. That's why I no longer wear them into the woods--rather know my feet will be dry when far from home. I figure Merrell could get it right but unfortunately not. It's too bad that Merrell has sacrificed quality in favor of marketing. Looks like it's time for a new go-to boot.

They are good sturdy hiking shoes with decent ankle support. I've been wearing these shoes for a couple years as everyday shoes, very comfortable and wearable! I'm almost 62 and I just took them on a difficult hike with thousands of slippery stairs, and felt surefooted to he whole time!

We bought these for a hiking trip. Wanted waterproof + ankle support + comfort.
Waterproof: works
Ankle support: actually hurts ankle. Can't walk in these for a long time.
Comfort: hurts arches, caused blisters
I don't know what they changed from the previous model, but these are a no go.

A few years ago I bought these same hikers... twice over a couple years. They are supposedly waterproof, but after a couple months they would always start leaking and get my socks wet IN WET GRASS. So I wrote a review, posted pictures of both pairs, etc. and stopped buying them.
This past spring I needed new hikers again after using another brand for the past few years, with pretty good satisfaction, I decided that maybe Merrell had improved their hikers and the waterproofing was better now. It's not. I've had these hikers 2 months now, just took a walk in wet grass, and both shoes leaked, my socks are wet! Never again. Merrell has not improved this product at all, and they are WAY over priced for supposedly being waterproof and leaking after 2 months of use. Makes me sick to my stomach that I didn't learn my lesson, paid this price again, and wasted my money.

I've only had the boots for 6 months and the one has started splitting from the sole. I had hoped they would've last longer.

Bought less than a year ago. Top fabric loop ripped off during normal lacing, and after only 15 short hikes they're no longer waterproof. Warranty specifically does not cover eyelets and loops, or damage from "normal wear," which apparently means they expect the eyelets to fall off and the shoes to leak within the first year. Don't buy them.

I bought these back in October. I only wear these when it's raining. The comfort was great, but the soles near the inside ball of my foot are separating. I probably haven't worn these 20 times. I'm in the process

I tracked my mileage and walked 141km's over mild terrain before the shoes ability to keep out water bit the dust. The body and sole of the shoe are unmarked and I believe will last at least 4-5 times longer than the WP did. I love Merrell hikers, but it's unacceptable for the main feature of this shoe to only last for a fifth of the expected lifetime of the product. If after 50,000kms your car just started letting rain into the cabin, that car wouldn't sell for long.

These boots are NOT waterproof...not even close. I bought the boots in Feb 2021 and they held up well for the first 4-5 months through about 70 to 80 miles of overnight backpacking and day hiking over moderate terrain. In the Fall of 2021, I noticed the boots began to wet out even in slightly damp trail conditions. Now my feet are guaranteed to get wet, even soaked in anything but totally dry conditions. A pair of boots that is only 11 months old and has not been subject to extreme use should hold up better. I should have paid more attention to the negative reviews.

The stitching on the heel is painful
The inner boot is pointed on the heel where the lining seem is stitched. The pain from popped blisters on my heels is unbearable. I only wore them once

Lace retention loop came unstitched on one of my Moab 2s. Now boots are useless. A lot of money for a pair of boots that are rendered useless by poor stitching!!!

Why has the shoes quality nose dived? I have bought many pairs and have loved and bragged about them and now this is a different shoe.

I bought a pair of these moab 2 about 8 years ago. The first pair I got, within 2 months the one lace loop came out. I took them back to the store at the time and they exchanged them because it was only 2 months. I was impressed with the second pair. Fast forward 7 years and decided to get another pair. Oct 2020. I never really wore them since I wanted to wear the others ones out. I started wearing the new ones sometime in September 2021. By the way not every day. Now this new pair, the upper brass lace hook is loose. The one rivet has come out. It's a little over a year since purchase and what can I do. Will I buy another Merrel product? Probably not. I tried to upload a picture but for some reason it wouldn't work.

My friend and I both wore these on our 10mi hike up Mt. Washington and a weeklong trip in Acadia. The shoes felt fairly stable if not a little clunky but a few minutes in I started getting a sharp pain in my achilles from the shoes. When we stopped for a quick water break, I tried loosening my achilles but the pain came back pretty quickly. I think it might be the U shaped cut at the back of the shoe, but as soon as I removed them the pain subsided. This happened for both the 10mi 4000' elevation gain hike and the shorter less strenuous hikes in Acadia (5 total, roughly 30-40 miles)
My friend also experienced the same pain despite her shoes having many more miles on them, so likely not a broken-in situation. Wish I could return these but unfortunately I cannot - that being said, other people seem to be happy with them.
