I bought a pair for each grandson for Boy Scouts. The first hike something snagged the boot and they ripped easily and of course are no longer waterproof. That was a big, expensive disappointment. They should be able to withstand one hike I the woods!

I deeply disappointed in the Moab2 "waterproof" because the boots are not even close to actually being waterproof. A hike through ankle-high wet grass this morning left the boots soaked on the outside (fine) but inside as well. The sole may be waterproof but the "select-dry" upper is not. The boot is fine in dry weather and I have a comfortable fit but the leaky upper is a deal-breaker. The boot performs better in snow than rain because the moisture is frozen.

When hiking my mind is free to wander but when wearing these boots it comes back to the same thought. How could Merrell betray my trust and loyalty by selling me these boots as waterproof. I have not purchased another brand of boots for over 20 years. Merle is so confident in the quality of their boots that they warranty them for a total of 60 days. Solomon will stand behind my new boots for a total of 2 years. If you buy a pair of waterproof Merrell boots make sure you buy the Gore-Tex version. Gore-Tex will stand behind the waterproofness of their product after your 60-day warranty expires

I bought these brand new 3 months ago, at first I was very happy, the shoes fit great and are comfortable, but then out of nowhere they started to squeak super load when I walk. I work on my feet all day so now when I walk down the halls I get looks, plus it's just a really annoying sound. To me it seems a brand new show shouldn't do this at all, especially considering the price I paid for them. I've tried baby powder and all the other online tricks but nothing has worked, super disappointed.

I have purchased 2 pair of their "water proof" boots and they are not at all water proof right out of the box! Contacted the factory, sent pictures of things that they asked for, but they would do nothing because I did not have a receipt. They admitted nothing and just stonewalled me! Also the soles break down rapidly and the boots become uncomfortable.

While it's a very comfortable boot, the soles are already falling off with less than 40-50 miles on them. Not very impressed.

My first pair of Moab 2 Mid Waterproof hikers was replaced under warranty because they were not waterproof. Light snow, wet grass, walks in the rain all led to soaked feet. I thought maybe a bad batch. The warranty replacement pair was not much better. I didn't use them in Winter for that reason and at just two years the upper boot has completely separated from the soles. Unfortunately outside the 1YR warranty. Read the many 4 and 5 star reviews to see the common thread...poor manufacturing. Too bad because the boots were light and very comfortable. I'm moving on.

Please bring back the Goretex version of these. The merrell "waterproofing" kills breathability

Not very waterproof. They were ok in snow, but my toes get soaked walking through grass with a heavy dew. Once the interior is wet, the "waterproofing" makes it very slow to dry, so it has plenty of opportunity to get stinky.

Boots are comfortable but I've had to return them on two separate occasions as the glue comes apart on the heels. Unfortunately, I can't get a refund so I'm stuck with a credit.

I bought these boots 3 months ago and used them for hiking a few miles on two occasions and loved the feel of them but then today I hiked through some wet snow for the first time and low and behold my left foot became soaked. Very disappointed. My last pair of waterproof Merrill boots weren't waterproof either but didn't have the "gortex" label on them but these do and I was sure they would work because of that label.

These boots are definitely not waterproof. I regret getting these instead of the gortex.
After walking in some snow for about 20 minutes, I could feel that my socks were damp. It took a few days for the inside of the boots to dry. They'll be fine to walk in dry conditions but these are definitely *not* waterproof. Extremely disappointed since I did a fair amount of research on "waterproof" vs "gortex". The reviews stated that if I was planning on crossing a stream, the gortex but if I was just walking in the rain, then waterproof would suffice.

I brought two pairs because they were very comfortable and the vibram-made soles are unparalleled in traction and durability. Unfortunately, Merrell's shoddy manufacturing ruins it. After a few hikes, all four boots developed leaks to the point where I get wet feet from the slightest puddle or wet grass. After continued wear, it is clear that the sole glue starts to fail and separate almost immediately.

Wore them in the rain. Both feet were soaked afterwards. Not waterproof.

Bought these a year ago for when I'm outside in the winter. They are fine for walking around when it's dry. Now that my waterproof work boots are shot, I put these on to walk around the yard, picking up blow down from a recent wind storm. My feet are soaked from the dew on the grass. I double checked the model number on the inside of the tongue to make sure I had purchased the "waterproof" version of this boot. I would not even call them water resistant.

Bought these a couple of months ago, so much for waterproof boots.
After walking thru the rain, on a sidewalk, no walking thru the grass, no walking thru puddles, nothing, my socks are wet. This is my third pair of Merrell's, first two pairs were great, this pair, not so much. I wish I would have read the reviews before buying them, could have saved myself some time and money. Never again.

I received these yesterday as a birthday gift to use on the trail in a few weeks and the second time I put them on the loops that hold the laces broke right off just from pulling the laces taught to tie them.

Shoes are great - the 'after sale email marketing' is overwhelming and not appropriate for the country I live in. I live in Canada and was bombed with USA sales. They just won't leave you alone after you make a purchase.

Bought two pairs same size but one was half a size to big. Both had problems with the lacing bunching up then unraveling. The second pair same problem plus the stitching was coming undone in toe area. Both pairs were bought at the same time and were alternated during a six month period. I wore them when i walked my dog on the sidewalk. Not worth the money.

I'm not new to Merrell shoes or boots but will never buy them again. My son and I both bought MOAB waterproof boots and I also have the low version. Within a few months all three pairs started to leak. Merrell replaced them after a drawn out process. I now have the Gore-tex MOABs and guess what, they leak too! I'm not talking about walking through puddles or streams. I'm walking across wet grass after--not during--rain or morning dew.
I like the fit and the look of the boot but don't need wet feet either when hiking or just walking the dog. Too bad the quality of Merrell products has declined so much.

These are NOT waterproof or even resistant to wet grass. I bought these for work and my feet were soaked walking through wet grass on the very first day! I can't believe these are labeled as waterproof. Am I missing something? I am so upset.
On the positive, they are very comfortable, fit well and as expected, and has excellent heal cushioning. They are a little slippery on wet surfaces, but I think that will improve as they are worn.

Worst shoes EVER!
Shoes dig in to your Achilles tendon so badly they are unwearable!
Wearing a plastic bag filled with broken glass would be more comfortable!

I purchased these last September from a local retailer after trying on quite a few different boots. At the time these seemed reasonably comfortable in the store but walking on concrete floors isn't the same as hiking with them. After three camping trips with them and over 100 miles hiking distance on everything from soft desert sand, slick rock, to mountain dirt trails (I live in Utah) I can say these are by far the most uncomfortable boots I've ever owned in my life and they left me with blisters on multiple toes after each trip. I initially attributed it to a break in but I think 100+ miles is plenty for break in and I now realize its the boot. I think my biggest problem with them is that inside there is a lump on the outer edges of boot that elevates your ring toe above the others...I found this to be the most painful aspect of them as it caused excessive rubbing with the top of the boot (especially when flexed), made my ring toes feel numb, and restricted overall movement. I am now having to search for a new boot before I can do any more hiking or camping. I would not buy these again or recommend them, I was very disappointed especially for the price.

First day wearing these (yesterday) and didn't even get rained on, but when walking in some damp conditions the shoes did get mildly wet and soaked through to the sock. Not something that you should expect from a "Waterproof" product. Although it is likely that the Gore-Tex version of the product is much more Waterproof than this technology, Merrell has lost my trust by selling a product that claims to be waterproof when not. I'm sure their response on here will be to contact their customer service team, but what I am looking for is a waterproof shoe, not an explanation on how to make these shoes waterproof. I will be buying my next boots from a competitor.
