Size and fit were fine. It’s my second consecutive pair. The problem is that after less than two months of easy hiking and city walks, the sole of the right boot has almost completely detached. My last pair endured four years of brutal abuse and never had an issue with the soles.

I wear a 10.5 in tennis shoes but a 10 in boots. I initially went with 10s but they were too small, so I exchanged for 11s and they were perfect.

This is a comfortable boot, it fit well and provided nice support for walking. My only concern at the time of purchase was that the laces were through cloth loops. This proved a valid concern, as after only a couple months of casual wear, one of the loops pulled right out from the boot. Buyer beware, as this is a hiking boot, and snugging up the laces prior to any activity will put lots of stress on these cloth loops and they just don't have the strength to last very long.

It is a little tight right now but just breaking them in. I like the support, style and that when Merrell says "wide", it's wide enough, not just a "D" in disguise. I've had my last pair for years and it'll be relegated to junk shoe duty.

I wanted so much to like these boots! Growing up, one of my boy scout leaders was a man named Randy Merrell whose small business of handmaking high quality boots eventually became Merrell... (He sold his share in the company in the early 80s to return to a normal life of custom boot making -- though Randy & I remain friends, this Zappos purchase was my first time to try something with his last name on it.) Unfortunately, the provided arch support from the insole was incredibly stiff - it felt like it was built of wood. (I have been running and hiking on a serious, sometimes competitive level since 1980, spent 28+ years in the military, and have never had arch support issues with any shoes or boots.) So I called Merrell to see if they had any alternative insoles that might be more flexible. "No," I was told. "All of our insoles have the same stiffness. And no one else has complained," although I've personally read reviews of their MOAB 2 boots that also have not been positive. Undeterred, I spent an additional $20 on some decent quality athletic insoles that were much more flexible. After running for 90 minutes in my running shoes to prepare for a good follow-on hiking session in boots as I train for a very challenging, upcoming Appalachian Trail segment, I excitedly put on my Merrells with the substitute insoles. Within 1/4 mile, I could feel that the boots were slightly too small lengthwise (NOT a function of the insoles) and the substitute insoles just didn't feel right either. My feet simply were not comfortable and the pressure of the boot around my foot (I like a smug fit) was not evenly distributed. I passed the boys onto my 16-year-old son. He tried them on and said they were comfortable... So maybe it was just me - well see when his high school XC season is over and he starts hiking with me again. So I'm giving 3 stars and going right back to another pair of my beloved Salomon Ultra Mids. Hike. Live. Go for it!

These boots were one of the best purchases I made for my trip to Iceland. The fit was fantastic and my feet stayed dry when walking on Diamond beach, iceberg lagoon and at the many waterfalls I walked to. I have a wide foot and it's hard to find a good women's hiking shoe. They were and excellent value and I highly recommend.

Comfort out of the box, run a half size small, tough as nails, wear everyday in a construction element - two years strong and sign of the end yet

We absolutly put these boots through the paces. We are part of a Boy Scout heading to Philmont Scout Ranch. Our training hikes were in the White Mountains (NH), early spring. We hit the boots with water, windy, slippery rocks and slippery roots. Then our trek in New Mexico was sunny with heat and elevation. The Moab 2 held up to all of the punishment! I need a wide boot and there are enough sized for my feet (my nickname is big foot). I highly recomment these boots.

Really nice Moabs. I've always gotten the lower type, so this is the first high top I've had. Very comfortable, great footbed and support. I don't hike anymore, but I bet these would be great on trail climbs. I've enjoyed them over the winter and into May just for everyday casual use, but may switch to something else (Merrell) for the warmer weather.

I'm totally in love with this boot. It's lightweight but warm and so comfortable! I have planter issues but not with this boot on my feet. Highly recommend.

For the last 7 years, I have worn these shoes virtually every single day all day! They were endorsed by my fellowship-trained foot and ankle orthopedic surgeon. I love them and last year persuaded my wife to start wearing them, and she is also now a devotee of this shoe! I purchase a new pair about once a year!

My feet are as wide as they are long and Merrill's, at least for me are true to size...7W, comfortable right out of the box. Great value.

They blow keens outta the water!!!! I've tried many different brands of mid cut hiking boots and you will never find durability like these!!! I've found keens feel lighter and less clunky but that really doesn't matter after the fact that they break after a month of use and these will last you many many busy hiking seasons. Their actually water proof too, they work great for winter boots, I'm a post man and so I need a good pair of boots. These boots have a layer on the top toe box I swear that just does not get wet no matter what. No but really you won't be disappointed.

Interior Padding thick enough for Canadian winter. Bottom tread seem deep enough to walk on thicker snow.

I've been wearing different styles and colors of the Merriell hiking boots for years with the right wool socks. Gave as Christmas present to my husband (and a new color for myself) and we love them! Been on a couple mountain hikes in Colorado this winter. He commented the slight curve of the heel was a bit to get used to. But when we arrived back at the car he expressed his love of the shoe. Feet are comfy and warm!

Good fitting boots needed with ankle support; I won't know about the waterproofing until later in the spring.
