I bought two pairs of these. One for my 11 y.o. and one for my 5y.o. My husband and I are trail runners and like taking our children hiking but had a hard time finding shoes that wouldn't slip all over the place. So we sought out trail shoes for the littler kids. My older kids wear my lone peaks and superiors as we have same size feet, and these shoes work AWESOME just like they do for adults. We had no sizing issues. Just ordered their normal shoe size. My 11 y.o. Likes the fit so much, we are getting the regular non-trail shoes for school this year.

I really like the zero drop shoe. These shoes are really comfortable. Since the width is wide you Igor want to go down in size if they feel too big.

We have been successfully wearing NB for a while. My son has very wide feet and XW the norm for him. We order size 4 regular of this altars and are very happy with the fit. He is adjusting to the new fit but overall comfortable.

My son switched from the Salomon speedcross shoes. I was worried that these would not hold up as well (Currently 5 months old and has still has live left). These shoes are still holding up strong and will last him until he moves up a size, they are lighter weight than the Salomon's and dry out faster. One note is to make sure to glue down the insoles as soon as you purchase. The insoles are flimsy and if the shoes get wet, they will work themselves out of the shoes while they are wearing them.

Great shoe! My 8 year old and I have been hiking the trails for the last month and a half and he's gotten a lot of mileage in these shoes! Perfect width for this toes to spread (especially on longer 6+ mile hikes).

Ordered these for my son. He has a narrower heel and average width foot. These fit him very well and are great for hiking and climbing trees. He said they were the most comfortable shoes he’s ever had! The shoe laces are my favorite part, the bumps keep them from coming untied.

My Son sticks to the Arizona desert trails like Velcro, these shoes bite right in and save him a spill without fail. In the mountains in the snow he's bookin! They just keep saving him from crashing it's fun to watch, makes me feel good knowing I'm doing my job and gearing him up correctly.

I was lucky enough to have my boy test these for Altra. He BLOWS through shoes. He has alternated between the Youth Lone Peak and Kokiri daily over the last 8 months. The shoes have been incredible! Still in full use both in terms of sizing (removable insole) and durability. I'm genuinely shocked by how durable the new kids shoes are!

3 of my children have been wearing samples of these Youth Lone Peak shoes for the past 6 months. They love wearing the shoes and I love that there are no rips or tears. I also love that you can remove the insole for another 1/2 size of growth.

Great shoes but could be more durable. My 6 year old wore them everyday for about 3 months before the material on the outside of the shoe at the toes started wearing off. We will definitely buy more Altra shoes but are going to wait for more durable options for kids.

I adore my Lone Peaks but had that I can't wear them year-round or in inclement weather! These are the most comfortable shoe I've ever worn. They're lightweight and durable and can go anywhere!

I love the style and spaciousness of these shoes for my son with a wide foot. He is hard wearing on his shoes and scuffed them pretty quickly - I wish the toes were a more durable material.

I bought the kid's version of the shoe as I can wear them or the women's shoes. Honestly, it was a price point difference for me. Here's what I think of the kid's shoe versus the adults: 1) The kid's shoe has terrible insoles. The kid's insoles are felt and will roll up and bunch. I pulled my insoles from an old pair of Escalantes and they felt much better. 2) There is no gaiter trap on this shoe, so be prepared to make your own if you need a gaiter. 3) As an adult in a kid's shoe, this feels more like the Superior than the Lone Peak - so keep that in mind if you're looking to make a switch. 4) The laces are great - they have the "bumps" in them to help keep them tied and I honestly love the laces. All in all, if you're looking to save about $50 per pair and don't mind them being a little thinner and having fewer features, this is a great shoe for an adult too. For me, they're my lighter hiking mileage shoe as I don't think they'd hold up for a long distance hike.

Bought these shoes for both my 8 yr old son and 6 yr daughter. My kids love them, the fit is good, the traction (what I was really after) is great. Easy to clean and maintain. Would recommend them for anyone looking for more of an outdoor shoe. One recommendation for the next version (and only reason for not giving 5 stars) some sort of toe-cap to protect the toes of the shoes. I can see where that will be the first part to wear out.

I am an adult who happens to have very small feet, and I was so happy when I saw that all altra was coming out with children's shoes as I would finally be able to wear something that fit. Straight out of the box I found the lone peaks to work perfectly, I have run in snow, dirt and mud and found the shoes to grip perfectly, a refreshing change from other models and brands that look like trail runners but are just a shoe for children not made to endure many miles of trail. That being said, my the insole in my left shoe may be defective as it slips about causing me to have to adjust after a few miles, making the shoe impractical for longer distance trail racing as I had planned. If I don't adjust, half the insole will stick out of the back of the shoe. Since I have never removed the insult I am at a loss as to figure out why it moves about.

I love these shoes for my son- but he's not great at tying his shoes. I typically replace stock laces with elastic laces, but the eyelets on the shoes are too small for every elastic lace I've tried :-( Please please please make the eyelets larger! My 8 year old wears these are the Kokari. These are more robust than the Kokari's... my son is ROUGH on his shoes and the uppers get torn up very quickly. So while both get torn up, these will last a bit longer.

Shoes are very comfortable and the sole is very sturdy but the fabric and shoelaces are terrible! This is the first time that the shoelaces on my kids shoes have both snapped off. It is hard to find replacement laces because the holes are too small. Also the fabric on shoes easily tears. I would highly recommend improving in these areas. Really wish they had lasted longer than a month.

Three of my children have these shoes. All size 2. The shoes are nice but the laces are terrible. I am not referring to the "bumps" in the laces, rather the durability. I have replaced all the laces. I do recommend the shoes and plan to purchase them again but will immediately replace the laces. The Xero shoes are not as durable as these. Merrill shoes are okay but are generally more narrow and have a heal lift.

My six year old loves his Youth Lone Peak. The kid swears the sole helps him stop "so fast!" and "climb everything!" As a dad my complaint is the toe cap material is thinning, after two-ish weeks!

I’m a size 6 but these seem to be a bit bigger. I do not like the flap inside you can remove it if you want more room. It keeps sliding inside the sneaker so I have to adjust it. I can’t remove it because the sneaker is already too big. I’m going to try and get a 5.5 hopefully it would fit. Over all they are very comfortable. Just because they run a little big then the other Altra’s I’ve bought.
