I'm a small adult & using these for trail running. I liked the looks of everything about Altras, but the Women's Lone Peaks were a lot thicker stack and higher cushioning than I personally need or want, so I tried the youth version since they are lower/less cushioned based on kids generally being lighter than adults, and they're working out great! I needed a half size and they only come in whole, so I also removed the 'room to grow' insole to get the sizing right and closer to the minimal stack of my previous shoes. I am light and have a light running style too, so I don't miss having a rock plate even on rocky tech trails, but that's something to keep in mind that the youth version doesn't have. I'm really impressed with the grip - I won't have to switch to my King MT2s at the first sign of moisture, they can hold their own right up to the edge of the tougher weather conditions or endless coarse gravel I'd use the Kings for.

We bought these for my 5 year old son who is very active and loves to run like crazy. He wore a hole through the side of his last running shoes (Nikes) and they even started making his pinky toe and toenail misshapen. He didn't have them for that long. These have lasted him a very long time, keep his feet healthy and have endured a lot. He pretty much only wears his altras. Thank you for making such a great shoe to keep my active son's feet healthy! They are worth the price because they allowed his feet room to grow and endured all of his running and play.

These are my favorite shoes! The added width in the toe box makes them so comfortable. The treads are great for trail hiking. I had no problems with the insoles. Will definitely buy again (and again)...this is my new go-to shoe!

Buying other brands was not fitting his foot in shoe size. Once I put these on him, he can run, climb, hike so much easier. Great shoe for active boy w/wide foot. Wish they would make more varieties

I dig Altra, but the smallest women's size always felt a *touch* too big. I usually wear around a 5 in women's. Bought a 3 in youth. Fits better than the adult shoes, and has been feeling delightful thus far (running 2-3 times/week for the last month).

My son has high insteps and is very sensitive about what socks and shoes he wears. After a year of struggle and him basically being barefoot all the time, we finally found these in a closeout sale at a nearby running store. He LOVES them. It was all we could get him to wear for 6 months. They are comfortable, durable, great fit. I swear they even dry faster and stink less than other shoes we had gotten him to wear. Had I known these had been discontinued I would have bought every pair. He won't be in grown up sizes for a long time (he's 6) so I would REALLY love for you to bring these back in kid sizes! Thank you!

Absolute best kids barefoot type shoes around, and durable enough that they last to be passed down, they fit both my older sons even though one has a high instep and one a low instep. PLEASE BRING THEM BACK.

I have run/hiked in Altra road and trail shoes for many years covering thousands of miles. I bought these for my girls about a year before they grew into them. We traded out their Nike shoes for these once they hit size 13 and were in love! My girls say these are the most comfortable shoes they have. Hopefully Altra will bring these back soon so our kids can continue to enjoy a zero drop shoe with wide toe box. Bring them back!!!

Why would these guys not offer a kids size? What a let down. I solely use Altra even for just day to day use because my feet are comfortable with the toe box. I was hoping to get my boy a pair.

Please bring these back!! My kid loved these shoes - he is quite sensitive to the way shoes feel on his feet, and these were his favorite shoes until he grew out of them. He is super active, and they stood up to his abuse remarkably well. Plus he loved having the same hiking shoes as mommy and mama :) I wish I would have bought several pairs!

I'm an adult ultrarunner who wears youth size shoes. It is extremely frustrating to not be able to find a shoe with the same technology as adult running shoes. Bummer to have one less option.

Had I known Altra was going to stop making Youth Lone Peak I would have bought ALL sizes! My 2 boys loved these shoes & we had 3 sizes that lasted passing down. Sad hiking family here other options not the same.

We feel your pain.
We've been an ALTRA house for years and now that Altra Youth has been discontinued we HAVE NOT found an alternative for our two growing sons.
It's been so painful we've actually started a movement to help get that Altra Youth feeling back.

There is nothing in the market like these shoes for kids that is good of quality!!! Please bring back youth options that mimic our adult shoes!! I love my Altra's and want something like that for son and can find nothing like it!

Son has gone through two pairs and needs the next size up..... came here to buy them and they are no longer made. So hard to fond a decent trail shoe for younger kids in the game. Disappointing I love Altra have been wearing them since 2014 and want to continue that love for my kids.
