I bought these before a trip to a western National Park, where I planned to do a lot of hiking in the heat. I didn’t have time to break them in before I went so I took my big hiking boots as well. It turned out that I needn’t have. The Lone Peak cross trainers were just what I was looking for: a light-weight, trail-worthy shoe that fit my narrow foot in a supportive-but-not-too-heavy way. No blisters or pain following miles of hiking over a long weekend. I love them and now wear them all all my walks. I’m hoping that the water resistance will make them worthy of fall and springtime hikes on the east coast where I live as well.

My feet and ankles have been weak in the past. It's practically impossible to turn your ankle in these. I wear them all day and am not a hiker! They give me great foot stability. Have lasted well even with all-day, every day wearing.

I love these. I started having just a bit of nerve pain in my toes and my podiatrist recommended this brand. So glad he did. For sizing, I am typically a 9 and usually a 9.5 in athletic shoes. The 9.5 is perfect. I do use an orthotic insert for arch support with these.

I would give these a 6 if I could! Literally zero break-in time, and not a blister or uncomfortable moment since the second I put them on my feet. The comfort of a slipper seamlessly meets the quality of a hiking shoe in the never-ending honeymoon that is my favorite ever hiking shoe. They're exquisite!

I normally wear a 10.5 in Altras, I had to go up to a size 11 in these.
These are great for casual hiking so far - comfortable and good traction.
Low rating on style = poor color choices.

please do your research regarding Altra ... these are zero drop shoes ... they take some getting used to for your feet, legs and ankles if you are not used to minimalistic or barefoot walking. For me these shoes are wonderful. My entire life I had issues finding shoes that would fit my short, small foot with very wide forefoot and short toes ... being able to walk and have my toes free - is the best thing ever. I am a forefoot runner and these shoes enable me to finally run with a cushioned sole but still allow my toes to spread out as nature intended. I ran barefoot out of necessity before - now I get a nicely cushioned and trail ready sole AND toe spread ... I wish they had made the tongue a little more cushioned and for me ... there could be more arch support but ... that is certainly an individual issue - I simply use insoles. The lone peaks are my summer trail shoes and offer great grip on all surfaces - they are super lightweight, easy to pack and feel airy. No extensive sweating in these shoes! You have to be aware that these shoes are wide and might not offer enough stability for someone with a very narrow foot or to someone used to a lot stiffer toe box. If you however have wide feet and need a zero drop- these shoes are the best on the market. Should you have trouble transitioning to the zero drop heel ... a heel cushion to start with can help

I like these shoes. They don’t squeeze my toes together like other shoes do.

I wear my Altras all day, every day! Work as a veterinary technician and hiking in training for my AT thru hike this spring. They're comfortable and quick drying, they grip onto whatever surface I come across during my day. I will never wear another brand!

I absolutely love this shoe! I have terrible foot issues, and have for years purchased many pairs of hiking shoes and boots, only to be in extreme pain about 3 miles into a hike. With Altra's lone peak 4.5 trail runners, I can hike for 10 miles and feel no pain whatsoever. I can't express how relieved I am to find this shoe. I am planning in the next year or two to hike the CDT, and my biggest worry is finding a winter shoe/boot that works in the same way as the LP 4.5, but that is more protective in heavy snow. Seems the Altra winter selection gets fair to poor reviews. Any and all suggestions are welcome. In the meantime, please Altra, do not change a thing on your 4.5's. They have changed my life!

The Torin Plush 4.0 was a godsend. I have a narrow heel but also don't like my toes to be smashed up. I felt like I was FINALLY wearing a shoe that was made for women. I've also broken both ankles with exterior rolls, so the Zero Technology is fabulous. Because I like them so much, I decided to try another Altra shoe with more tread for the desert paths here in Tucson. The Plush is definitely a street shoe without a lot of traction. I got the Lone Peak which has a lot of tread variation and I think will be perfect for my trail walks - perfect for the Sonoran Desert in the winter and Lake Superior are area in the summer. They seem super comfy and a good fit, but I admit that I haven't had the opportunity to wear them out on a trail yet. I also got the Superior shoe which is cuter, but just seemed stiffer and I didn't like the fit as well.

I ordered 2 pairs... the first ones I put in my usual size 7.5 but the website suggested I buy the 7.0 so, me believing that was of some kind of value ordered the size smaller... too small... I ordered my size (I have 2 other Altras) 7.5 TOO SMALL... I'm pretty frustrated.... I guess I'll try a half size larger than my other perfectly fitting pair : (

At the suggestion of an osteopath, I bought these for work. I am a doctor in a hospital and walk many miles/day. I have dropped metatarsal heads and as I get older I feel my feet changing. I have been wearing danskos since my career began but I don't feel good support from them as they're loose and was wondering what else to wear. Walking in these feels like walking on a cloud. There is lots of toe room, and I love the zero rise. I feel a gentle stretch of my calf w every step and since it's anatomically correct, this is as it should be. I love these shoes.

My husband has an autoimmune disease that includes arthritis. As he ages, he has become a fall hazard. These shoes have thin enough soles so he can feel the ground better. He has better stability. I just bought him a second pair before the new version came out. I was worried the news ones may not be the new and improved version for him.
I haven't taken mine off since I bought me a pair. Ok. I have two pair.
My bff has legs to die for but feet that kill. Bunions and corns, oh my! I waited for a sale and bought her a pair. She loves the fit and is able to walk without pain.

Having an athletic toe box on shoes that are solid, warm and stable has been heavenly. From daily shoes to shoveling snow and hiking through the woods, these shoes handle it all. They even grip the snow when the dogs want to pull me. :0)

I use these for walking, biking and hiking. They make for happy feet. Lots of room for my toes, no slipping on trails or wet roads, and they clean up easily after tramping through dirt and mud.

Love these shoes. I just started running, and these have been helpful in these colder months with the snow and the wet. Dry feet! I feel safe running through the trails with this shoe. I have weird sized feet (one foot is a whole size bigger than the other) and I was worried these would slip. But they don't! Love them.
