Everyone I know is wearing Altra's and I was super excited to order a pair.I received my Soltice XT shoes quickly and after putting them on I was so stoked. They fit and looked great. Fast forward a week and there is a hole on the top of the shoe just in front of the laces. I am bummed because based on the first week I was already thinking that I will probably be rebuying them when these wear out. Unfortunately, I can't recommend these shoes, too much money to have this kind of issue so quickly. If this issue had not happened I would recommend them to anyone.

Hi Why no proper replacement of Solstice? I have bought 10 pairs of Solstice through the years it was a great fairly minimal shoe which was made in sober colors so you could go on a two week vacation with this as your only shoe I would wear them night and day in of office, restaurant or out on a run. And it worked fine in the gym as it was I used them for squatting. You guys are missing a big trick by not replacing this shoe directly. The XT doesn't work for running. The Escalante is two squishy for those who want minimalist shoe. The Esclante Race is very expensive and doesn't come in leisure friendly colors. Very disappointed in Altra I hope someone is listening. Thanks for reading. Peter

I ordered these shoes in January and after working out in these at most 3 times per week for CrossFit-type training, the tread of the sole on the outside of both shoes started separating from rest of the bottom (see photos). This is a real bummer because overall I loved the feel of the shoes for body weight and low weight barbell movements.

Very comfortable, but not particularly good for long runs.

I've owed various pairs of Altra footwear and they are all amazing compared to traditional footwear. I'd love to see extra wide options for people with wider feet as the toe box can still get a bit tight. I realize this is not likely to happen but it would be awesome to someday see Altra expand into other sport footwear such as baseball cleats. There are currently 0 options for Natural toe boxed cleats across all sports. Everyone rushes to take cleats off after sporting events because they are so narrow and uncomfortable! Hopefully some food for thought!

I've had these for over a year and so far so good. I use them in the gym 3 times a week and for Road and Trail running. They also look good with a pair of jeans if Im just running errands. Style COUNTS! The Soltice rules.

I'm on my feet all day long and these shoes never hurt my feet!! Just amazing and highly recommend to anyone who wants all day comfort.

i thought these would be more minimalist, they do have some padding but, they're definitely not a barefoot experience. the 0 drop is nice and does require to be a bit more mindful of form. i have stuck with more foamy shoes for longer runs and have kept these to five milers and they're just spectacularly comfortable. i thought they would take some getting used to, but they put a smile on my face right away.

Use this shoe in the clinic and on walks. Allows me to demonstrate wide variety of ex's and walking and light trails this shoe is stable and comfortable

Cross training, power lifting, body weight exercises, walking, sprints, etc. I switched from your trail running shoes and I'm very happy with your design and functionality

I've tried quite a few shoes for racquetball and the mid-sole tightness is perfect for court movement. That combined with the zero drop makes me happy.

I wanted these sneaks for the wide toe box, to avoid blisters and whatever else goes wrong with my toes. My wife might add that the shoe's repulsive effect on young ladies is an added bonus. But I'm focused on comfort, not fashion!

Second pair. Hope they come out with more colors

Bought these for my husband who has a high arch and likes a wide toe box. We returned the first pair because they were tight on his mid foot. Went a half size up and they are perfect. He loves the feel. He's been walking and played tennis in them.

Neutral foot bed, wide toe box, good arch support. Great shoe for my cavus foot. I added an insert that corrects for the pronation that typically accompanies the cavus foot shape. Fee such shoes for training and gym sports with side to side movement are available with these qualities so this is a find. I have previously torn an Achilles and have occasional plantar fasciitis so, with proper stretching of the gastrocnemius and IT band, this is the best preventive medicine. Looking forward to the XT2 that will improve the wear and tear on the toe of the shoe.

I'm on my 5th pair. It is far and away my favorite gym shoes. It provides the perfect blend for running (sprint to mid-distance), agility, and strength training.

Love the low drop! This is a great compromise if you don't want a barefoot shoe. With someone who has had flat feet and back problems I love them!

Very soft, flexible upper fabric makes the shoes really comfortable. They seem slightly smaller that the size 13's I've bought from Altra before, but still close enough to true-to-size. I have ordered some elastic laces, to turn them into slip-ons. I am wearing them to the gym and for everyday knock-around shoes, the insole replaced by my lightweight sports orthotics, which fit fine in them. I would not choose these for running--I want my running shoes more substantial. But for gym and general comfort shoes, I think they will be great.

Very comfortable for short runs of 3 or 4 miles. Hardly feels like I have a shoe on.... Seems to breathe well.

I use these shoes for regular gym use on the daily, they are a great medium between a minimalist shoe and a full-blown CrossFit style shoe and provide great feedback during lifts. Regarding shoe feedback: the transfer of energy through the shoe to the floor is noticeable through the solid rubber sole and it helps me tune the efficiency of my pushing and pulling in an exercise. The shoe is well ventilated, lightweight and the toebox provides plenty of room. Probably wouldn't try super abrasive movements like rope climbs, but this shoe is solid!

I was a heel striker and wore shoes fast. Altra helped me fix my Gate and walk better. The open toe box is key to proper walking imo It's an amazing shoe. And closest company to a minimal shoe without being too minimal. Just enough They're the only company that makes solid black Because some people don't like the insane color choices out there. Black fits work clothes and all season wear. God bless you Altra for making solid black. I wish they would have a buy 9 pairs and get 10th free in black Because I'd do it
