I've had great luck with Altra and I'm a fan, but I would not recommend this model. On my second day of use, the sole started peeling off.

I bought these to be my gym shoes. I like the look and are comfortable. However, after working out in them twice, the rubber on the bottom started peeling off. I contacted the company Altra 2 days ago about it and still have no resolution. I do not recommend.

Poor build quality. Toe fabric had large crease. Not lined up properly when built. From all the ads I was wrongfully under the impression that this shoe was form the USA. My mistake. MADE IN CHINA. I will make sure to find out next time where the shoe is made. Its all in the marketing marketing marketing. Buyer beware. Buy from the USA.

Everything about the shoe is fine, except the heel. It doesn't do its job. Makes the shoe feel like it's going to fall off. It's so bad that they're annoying to even walk in.

These were uncomfortable and felt cheap to Me. The material in the top part of the shoe was very loose and was a lot of play in the toe box for me. I returned.

My Altra experiment is OVER. Last year I suffered from Plantar Fasciitis in both of my feet due to over training. I scoured the internet for solutions and one of them was that Altra shoes were a game changer for people with Plantar Fasciitis. I took it easy transitioning from a 12mm drop shoe to a Zero drop shoe. This was done through walking only, then a run/walk combination, and then to running. Unfortunately I never really felt that my feet improved. All the while I really wanted the Altra's to work. I also have wide feet and the wide toe box was something I really liked. Unfortunately they were never the answer for me. I recently transitioned back to a 10mm drop shoe and my feet have improved significantly. In fact I wore an older pair of Altra's yesterday to mow the lawn for about 30 minutes. This was after wearing the new shoes for most of the day. After the 30 minutes in the Altra's I vowed to never wear them again. That pair, along with my five other pairs, made their way into the trash can. Maybe these are great shoes for some, for me it was an 18 month failed experiment! Lastly the shoes absolutely do not hold up. Their sturdiness, in shoes like the Lone Peaks and the TIMPs, diminish very quickly. Overall I must say these are the worst shoes I have ever put on my feet.

I owned several pairs of the original Solstice. I could wear it in the gym to workout, to run, and to just walk around in. They're so comfortable.
This new version is so disappointing. They're stiff, tight in the middle of my foot, and slip at the heel. I don't want to wear them to do anything. I just put on my original Solstices and it feels so much better.
Please listen to us and bring back the old version! I'm off to see if I can find it at a third party seller...

I put these to work. Went to a very difficult military school wearing these to train on land, so I put them through the paces. All degree of land training. The heal slipped like crazy. To try and combat that, I tried tying them tighter. The problem there, is the mid foot is so narrow, that it caused nerve pain at the top of the foot. The upper is so weak, that even with the laces cranked down as tight as I could, my foot was sliding all over the place. Rolled my ankle multiple times. Please, bring back the One V3 and stop making all these garage shoes. It pains me to write this, cause I know Altra is trying, but please, listen to your customers.

Toe box is great, midsole is tight even after 100 miles, but the worst is the heel. I currently own 9 different pairs of Altras, 16 over the last 5 years, and this is the first experience I've had with them regarding heel slippage. It's bad. Really bad. No runner's loop lace hole to provide a nice rearward heel grab either. Taking the insole out helps, but the new way Altra constructs shoes makes his option untenable due to the coarse edges under the insole.
Unusable shoe in the long run, I'll stick to the racers and escalantes...

I love the original Solstice shoes. I have owned 8 pairs I think. I tried this new version, and it does not fit the same way at all. I like the thought of the added outsole... but I am sad that I will not be able to wear the shoes I like anymore

Had to return this shoe. This shoe was comfortable but much larger than other Altra shoes, and I confirmed with Altria's support team that the design slants the sole outward. Meaning that the second you put the shoe on and walk around, it feels like an old shoe that needs to be replaced. It pushes your foot to walk on the outsides of your feet. So if you already walk that way and wear your shoes out first on the outsides, this will be a horrible shoe for you.

To tight around the mid foot. Toe box could be a bit wider. Way too stiff of a sole. Laces too short. Please make an actually minimalist trainer. Maybe take some notes from Vivo barefoot.
