I've worn NB 1260 versions 2 through 7. Due to the discontinuation of the line, I was suggested to try the 940 for my overpronating feet. My first and second ribs were ok. However, I started developing severe pain in the MTP joint on my left foot (only while wearing 940s). Thought maybe it's an anomaly and switched back to my old 1260 to confirm that the pain was absent. I'm guessing 940 build quality was poor for one side only that they're not wearable after only a few runs. I write this review because I tried them once again two days ago and now have a severely swollen and painful MTP joint for the last 48 hours. NB show quality has definitely gone down. Should have kept the 1260 line. Just my opinion.

Walk 5 miles daily.
I wore the soles out in 6 weeks.
I expected way more for a shoe that cost this much.
Take a pass and get the 847 instead

Generally, these shoes feel pretty good but I am having an issue trying to isolate my left heel and keep it from slipping inside the shoe as I walk/jog.
Generally, New Balance shoes have a very similar feel/fit and with a bit of string adjustment and lacing pattern, I'm set. With these, I have to cinch things down almost uncomfortably tight across my instep to keep the heel in place. Also, unfortunately, this is an issue that didn't really manifest until I'd broken the shoes in a bit, so they are not eligible for return.
I'm hoping I can get this worked out and/or that fully breaking the shoes in alleviates the issue but these may not be my longest lasting pair of running shoes if I cannot get this resolved.

I've been a runner for nearly 60 years and New Balance has always been by choice for running shoes, and will continue to be. However, with the 940V4 I encountered a problem with the right shoe as it was rubbing against my inner right ankle. I returned the shoes for a full refund, and will be using it to buy anew pair of NB from Zappo.

I've been a runner for nearly 60 years, and New Balance has always been my choice for running shoes and will continue to be (Can't teach an old dog new tricks). The 940V4 is a great shoe, but I encountered a problem only with the right shoe in that it was rubbing on the inside of my right ankle. I returned the shes to Zappo and was granted a full refund which I will use to make another NB purchase again from Zappo.

I bought a regular width version of this shoe in a great, local shoe store, and I wore it out, but I realized that a narrow width would be more comfortable for me. I found the width I wanted through the NB website. They had great information on the site that helped me measure my foot to ensure a proper fit. The shoes I received were perfect.

Outer heel wore down immediately, to the point of me toppling over when I walk. @NB PLEASE FIX THIS DESIGN FLAW.

I've had two pairs of these and they both wore out the same. Outer sides wore down to a point I was rolling my ankles. My big toe also poked through the mesh on both pairs. They are very comfortable. For what Im.paying, they shouldn't wear down as easily.

I used to run but I use these shoes for walking. The fit is comfortable with medium weight socks. There is good cushion for my feet and joints as I take each step. If the laces were round instead of flat, it would be easier to lace up the shoes. When I use up all the pairs of lacing holes, the length of the laces is good.

This is my 3rd pair of these running shoes, and I love them. They just fit so well and hold up even better. I run about 20 miles a week on my treadmill, and this model holds up for at least 6-8 months before I need to replace them. And then, they become great walking shoes!

From day one had started to have pain in the foot, thought it might go away in a day or two but I was wrong. The pain kept increasing and I had to stop wearing the shoes.

The shoe is comfortable and supports the foot as expected. I work 12 hour days and it helps with the feet aches at the end of the day. My only issue is that the tongue is constantly needing readjustment as it shifts to the right on the right side foot and to the left on the left side foot. This is really annoying as it makes it uncomfortable and it requires readjusting every 10-20 mins, It may just be the pair I got or a common problem with the shoe line. This was my first pair of NB and I will probably return them because of the tongue issue.

They look great but they aren't as comfortable as the 993's. I am diabetic and need really comfortable shoes and these just don't cut for me.
