This could have been the best shoe I have ever tried on, however, it turned out to be a big disappointment. The upper material is fantastic, and the midsole is unbelievably comfortable. Unfortunately, the biggest flaw is the heel plate. I'm not sure what new balance was thinking of making a structured plate that it's only real purpose is to put pressure against the heel and cause blisters. For that reason I can not wear the shoe for more than 10 seconds. If I was able to take off this plate then this would be the best shoe ever made, but that's just wishful thinking. What a heart break.

Except for several of the old 1100 series, 1080s have been my favorites over the past 10 years or so. The 1080v9 was an excellent shoe. I usually buy two pair a year as I walk 2000 plus miles a year at a local mall. Over the past 15 years I have accomplished my goal of walking 25,001 miles, the circumference of the earth at the equator. All on New Balance. The 1080v10 moved the side elastic back an inch or so causing my toes to ram into the tip of the shoe causing uncomfortable soreness. Disappointed. Sticking with New Balance but resent being forced to change shoes.

Out of the box it fit very well. Comfortable knit upper. Snug but not overly tight. Heel counter is almost over engineered. Unfortunately the midsole is very stiff. It’s supposed to be high cushion and responsive but it’s just hard. Went on three runs, 10, 4 and 20 miles. I have never had my feet and legs so beat up after a long run. It was billed as a great long run day shoe. I purchased as a possible up grade from the brooks glycerin 17 but was sadly disappointed. I returned in search of something doesn’t feel like running on concrete slabs.

I had high hopes for this shoe but it runs extremely narrow. Then, I ordered the men's version hoping it would be wide enough. Unfortunately, it is still too narrow! Please revaluate the sizing of this shoe. Something is wrong with this shoe.

What happened to the quality of the 1080? In less than a year my big toe is poking thru a hole and the material on the heel of the right shoe has a whole in it.

Just bought the 1080v10 and was excited to get them. Really disappointed with the fit and feel of these shoes. In my opinion, NB missed the mark. The v9 is far more comfortable and not as tight across the mid section of the foot as the v10. The heel cup/support feels strange. The new fabric makes it look like my feet are falling off the side of the shoe. I really loved the v9 and will have to order a few pairs to keep on hand for the future.

You are skimping and not making your shoes wide enough. I have always worn a 4E width and over the last few years the shoes are fitting tighter. Even the 840 doesn't fit. I measured the 2 year old pair I have and the base is almost 1/4" of an inch wider than the new pairs I just bought. I have been buying New Balance sport shoes for over 30 years because they fit my width. Now the shoes fit like any other brand. No more New Balance for me.

I loved the feel of this shoe except there was a sharp point where the side pieces were sewed together and it made a whole in my right foot that is still healing. I returned these specific 1080 shoes and reordered another pair hoping the flaw was just on these shoes and wouldn't be on the reordered ones. I was right as the new ones have come and the flaw is not existing on the new ones. Love the feel of this shoe when walking in it just not the flaw making a hole in my foot as the first 1080's did.

The shoe is sewn together and meets on the interior of the shoe - this spot rubs on the outside ankle bone and causes a blister

My first pair of these were great, so as they wore out I ordered another pair. Unfortunately, after 2 weeks of use the sole started to separate on the bottom of the shoe. After contacting Customer Service, I was told they were unable to replace the shoe, but to send in pictures of the shoes along with an explanation and I would be contacted with-in two weeks about my pro-rated refund amount. If these were $30.00 shoes I would expect that type of guarantee, but they are not! The website states there is a 45 day exchange, but that only applies to "like new" shoes which mine are not. I am now waiting to be contacted and have to find another pair of shoes.

I replaced a terrible set of NB 890's which gave out after eight months, with these new shoes. The cushion on the 890's gave out too early. The left heel portion of the new Fresh Foam 1080v shoe gives. I was expecting better quality, a shoe that would last me at least a year. Did not get it. It is my last NB pair. Going back to Asics.

The shoe fits completely different from the first pair, almost smaller. Also, I was under the impression new balance was an American company with product made in the USA. Sad to say that is not the case and I will not by purchasing another pair.

The first pair was missing a lace hole. The replacement Zappos sent was missing a shoe, I.e one shoe in the box. Because I have both feet, I don’t think that the one shoe solution would work for me. In short, some quality control issues with NB production and packaging that I would be concerned with when buying their shoes

They were great for about 1 month of 3-5 mile runs(60 or so total miles)...and then the heel cup split in half right down the middle.

The 1080 was my favorite shoe. The refresh is not close to anything before. Have to move to Brooks. Very dismaying.

Mesh top moves unless you running on a flat straight surface. Run on a pitch? Foot will slide. Running around a turn? Foot will slide. Make a sharp turn? Hope you have strong ankles! Step on something unexpected? Hope you have strong ankles. Heel will rub with the lame high tab. Holy ugly!! The design is trash... bring back the all white V10 with the black logo. Bring back the support so I can run hard and not worry about losing an ankle or sliding around. Been running 1080s since v8 and I am very sad.

Please know I have literally run in every version of the 1080. Have gone online each year to order two pair for the upcoming year. That being said, I will shop another brand if the v11 looks anything like v10. Heal extension behind the achilles is a gimmick and the only function it serves is to collect small stones when I run trails. The upper last/lacings are uncomfortable and for some reason creates way too much pressure on the top of my foot. The shoe trend is a bit odd as the center portion of the sole/tread is a different material than the majority of the sole (it is softer and wearing at a different rate than the rest of the tread). Just not a comfortable shoe all around. I am hopeful that NB reverts back to the roots of earlier 1080 versions next year.

You have ruined the style in version 10. Too narrow and bad feel. I have bought numerous generations and pairs and finally you have managed to create a rubbish shoe.

I have worn New Balance for years, and these are not ones I would recommend at all. i returned them; they did not feel comfortable, offered little support and were hard to put on (small foot opening due to the high back). I do not think most of the foam shoes are good - especially these.

Doesn't fit right at all - 7 miles each day and my feet literally have more blisters and my knees hurt like never before. Hate is a very harsh word, but it's how i feel about these shoes.

This model has a shortend tounge, creating an unusual rub spot uder the laces. the got a blister that would not subside. I returned them and i am waiting for my refund. I purchased the 1540 to replace these.
