The most comfortable shoes, I have ever worn. What's, not to like? I will design the toe box, to be a little smaller (like the Sky Kaha), and the red sole to be a little less fluorescent- but you know, I'm an old guy. I had professionally made orthotics made. Warning- after I inserted them, I went from bouncing to flying. Kati nga mihi

I wear the Stinson4 for hiking in warm weather and this Stinson Mid Gore-Tex for cooler weather hikes. There is ample room in the toe box and a lot of cushioning in the thick midsole, but it is a little on the firm side. It's certainly not as soft as the Bondi 6. I've only been on a few hikes with this shoe, so I cannot attest to it's longevity; the reason for the 4 stars.

The tongue of the shoe doesn't come up high enough so that if you lace it to the top it keeps the tie off your ankle. Solved by tying it off on the next to last.

Bought this shoe about the time I first saw it on the Hoka website to use as my main hiker. I'm mainly a weekend hiker but also 3-5 day treks a few times per year. This shoe is great for hiking; I've gone up to 20 miles in one day and the shoe still felt comfortable. I've used this shoe to showshoe in lake placid and taken it on the rock and gravel in Death Valley. I've had no issues with water coming into the shoe. The shoe is not so great for scrambling. Because it's so wide, it's not particularly stable on narrow surfaces. As others have said, the eyelet is difficult for the top laces to get in and the shoe would be a bit grippier with a vibrant sole. Still I have been very satisfied with this!

One of the things I did not like is the little squares on the bottom of the soles become detached , had to use shoe goo . I had too on all my previous purchases of all the soles on my hikers as well. That' s why I bought these . The other thing I did not like is the leather at the widest part of the shoe is too soft . After a couple of weeks it spread out and the shoe is too wide . You have to tighten the laces more. I am very very hard on shoes and I am 6'3 250 lbs. and I am on my feet 12 hours plus a day . I will purchase theses shoes again because no other shoe manufactures comes close to the initial and lasting comfort. I wish they would make a more substantial shoe for heavier people. And I would like to see a work boot as well . I use these on concrete all day and they are comfortable but eventually wear out like every thing else.

I have now used the Tor Summit Mid, Tor Tek Mid, TOA and these boots to log over 1,000 miles on the Appalachian Trail and mountains around the country. My all-time favorite model has been the Tor Summit Mid with the durable outers and tons of cushioning. The replacements have all been disappointments so I eagerly await each new model that comes out. These looked like a close replacement when I saw them online so I ordered them. The durable faux leather uppers are comfy & flexible out of the box and require no break-in. The cushioning is back to being heavenly (like the Bondis) which I need for my neuromas and it soaks up the rocks and roots you step on out on the trails. The tongue is cushioned and comfortable without being burdensome. There are two items that I'd like to see changed: 1) The upper lace hooks can be difficult to get the lace into since they have a very awkward slot that the lace must fit into but it's not a major issue. 2) The seam between the Gore-Tex bootie and the ankle cushioning runs exactly across my ankle bone. On the outside of my foot this is extremely uncomfortable so far. I'm hoping with some break-in this goes away because I can't be out on the trail for a week of backpacking with that kind of discomfort. Overall this is an incredible hiking boot and I look forward to some long-distance trips with them this summer as I continue to section hike the AT!

Very well made, the sole is incredibly comforting, but I have to return these. The toe box is way too cramped for my feet both width and height wise, so it would be bad if I were to wear these everyday. It's incredibly unfortunate because asides from the toe box, I like everything else about these boots; I know they would relieve most of the pressure on my feet from all the walking I do everyday at work. Hoka if you did release a wide sizing of this I will get it, it'd really be good for the continued usage of my feet and legs.

I need a walking boot to do outdoor walking in winter when it is both snowy and rainy. This boot is very comfortable and it is comforting to know it is waterproof.

I am so appreciative that HOKA is now making THREE! different hiking boots for men. I tried all three. The Stinson is an excellent shoe for someone else but not for me; nothing against the shoe. I settled on the Kaha GTX because it works much better for me and the trails I hike on.

great really reeeeally comfortable all day shop boot that feels thoughtfully and thoughtlessly designed at the same time. i hate the lugs, they are annoying af. why would you make them soo small and fiddly, who does this benefit?? the pull tab on the right back of the boot ripped off like the second or third time i used it. the insoles are pretty useless after a week, ive replaced them already. i legit like these but also i'm coming from wearing danners which are also comfortable all day but are just overall better designed, more durable etc etc.

Took these brand new boots to carve through Yosemite. I did one week, about 50 miles or so - these boots fell apart. Would buy again from comfort alone - seriously amazing out of the box comfort. Just no durability but they are cheap enough to buy a new pair each year.

The new eyelets at the top two spots are a pain and poorly designed. When pulling the lace to tighten up the shoes, the laces inevitably come out, causing you to have to re-lace the top two eyelets again. Hoka normally makes great-fitting, solidly built shoes. This pair, however, was shoddily made as I could see where the glue was used to hold down some of the seams between the shoe and sole. Some of the sole didn’t seem to get enough glue as there were unglued gaps. These are supposed to be hiking shoes. They won’t last long because as soon as they get wet, I’m sure the aforementioned seams will start to come apart. I don’t have much confidence in this pair and less confidence in Hoka overall.

I am baffeled by the fact that the picture of the Stinson Mid Gore-Tex looks awesome light brown and grey but in person the boot is all grey(weird).

Pretty good shoe. In general, Hoka shoes tend to run short (length) compared to other brands I have purchased. These do too. Another item with these shoes is the lace catches. Those on the upper portion of the shoe are much easier for laces to come out of when unlaced but harder to get back in because of the extra "shield" each has next to the catch.

Great boots needs no break ok but the back loop broke on back on right boot after wearing them twice. Which makes them not only look bad but no loot to help pull on. Reached out to Hoka got no response. Other than that great boot.

Start by saying the shoe overall is very good. Comfortable, warm, dry. I wonder though why the "notch" in the back of the shoe? It tends to let in snow and cold. Also, when tying the laces the knot ends up on your leg rather than on the tongue of the shoe. Mnnnn. This presents a problem. Shouldn't the lacing eyelets been lowered so this wouldn't happen. I think my leg has adjusted but not without some pain. Thanks

I wear sz 15 so have limited choices, and rarely am able to try on a shoe, even in pre-pandemic. Also I need large toe box, so even fewer choices. I wear the Stinson low cut trail shoe and love it. Love the fit, love the grip, love the drop, love the Cush! Wanted a hiker, have worn Merrells for years, only recently they changed their lasts and now the toe boxes are restrictive. So started to look for options - found the Stinson hiker and tried it.. Report card: the fit is good, though not exactly same as the trail shoe - why why why? HOKA why? Stop monkeying with shoe lasts. The lacing is ok but a bit finicky - NOT GOOD for a hiker - the laces can come out of the hooks. The fit around the ankle is so Cush that it is hard to feel how much tension you need on the laces - the answer is more than one would think - first time I word these boots for half a day, I had the laces too loose, and my foot was moving around, got a heel blister. Now I know have to snug down the laces a lot.. Hoka does not have a long tradition and experience making hiking boots and it shows. If I had more choices I would be dropping these.

First off, the overall quality of the boot/fit/finish/comfort are spot on, but huge issue. The heel loop (catch, hook whatever you wish to call it) is very weak. I always love these to assist one with "pulling" the foot into the shoe. These are sewn under a piece of plastic that wrap around the back of the boot...didn't take a lot of force to rip it clean off after a few uses. That definitely needs fixing. My wife will hand stich for me with some Kevlar thread we have for sailboat sails. Other than that, I'm pleased with these. They do not breath well at all, but I've been using them for short hikes and cold weather. I would not recommend for hot summer hikes. Even though the gortex wicks away the moisture, there is no where for it to go...these absolutely do not breath. Again, good for cold temps, but probably not for any warm weather, humid hikes. Very comfortable in terms of the footbed though...and that is where Hoka rules the market. If they could fix/improve upon breathability and of course that heel loop weakness, they'd have a winner here...but for near $200? That loop should be able to hold my weight...not just rip with a few casual fitments. Disappointed in that.

True to size, very cushy and comfortable, I have bad knees and love Hoka's cushioning and look forward to putting on these boots. I don't think the ankle support is there for any extreme hiking and I find the soles of the shoes slippery in wet conditions. Recently went hiking in a gorge near a creek that is always wet and humid and found the soles to be very slippery on wet surfaces, especially rocks. For all day comfort these are hard to beat. For more technical hiking where you need support and grip I would look at different options.

The boot: Lightweight ; the feeling of walking on clouds. The footbed: Very comfy, and supportive. Top of boot: Restrictive/abrasive. Lacing: A real pain - an exercise in patience, especially the upper speed lace stays ( the laces are too large for the loops ). Color: Boring

Wear these to work every day. Sole does not hold up to every day use. Rubber soles fall off. Should last longer for the price.
