Can't say much about comfort because my toddler tried them on, but the shoes are definitely very narrow. We returned the normal width and bought the same size in wide, and they fit.

The velcro wears (separates so it doesn’t stay closed) so the shoes only last about a year. No hand-me-down potential here.

My grandson loves these New Balance. The only reason I gave it a lower overall rating is that they are already falling apart on the velcro as well as near the outside. I will probably buy another pair for him as they are the only ones he wears but it is disappointing that they are made to fall apart so quickly. Otherwise they would be a great pair of shoes.

Both shoes are shredding on the sides after 5 months. They probably would’ve shredded sooner but my son mostly started wearing them when it started to get warmer.

My child seemed to like these shoes, but the quality is terrible. I ordered one pair, and within a few weeks, there were two large holes over the small toes. I’d never seen this happen in my kid’s shoes before and immediately contacted Zappos about the problem. They were great about it and sent a replacement. Unfortunately, the replacement developed the same holes in the same location within just a few days this time. Zappos ended up refunding us and we chose different shoes altogether.

Love these sneakers for the ease of getting them onto our little one and the seemingly comfortable fit but, very disappointed that after about 2 months, they’re already falling apart.

We love New Balance shoes for the support. However, the quality of the materials and construction has really gone down. The soles flatten and deform quickly. With this pair after just a few weeks there were huge holes in the toe of each shoe. Very disappointing.

The tab connecting to the velcro peeled/separated in about 3 weeks worth of wear, and the front toe rubber area separated from the shoe. It should be able to withstand toddler play for more than a month! The tongue also kept rolling in, so it was hard for my toddler to put on the shoes by himself

Bought a few different types of shoes for our kiddo. He has a wide foot and a high instep. His last shoes we purchased in wide because he was also wearing orthotics and definitely needed a wide. As for this particular shoe...we couldn't even get it on his foot (and this was without the orthotic)! The wide option was out of stock, and like I said we bought a few different types to test on his feet sans orthotics. In short, if your kiddo has a high instep, this might not be the shoe you need.

I bought these shoes as an every day shoe. Not long after my son was wearing them my husband and I noticed a red mark on the top of his foot. The tongue of the shoe was rubbing on the top of his foot and it’s still red with a mark a week later and he hasnt worn the shoes since.

Very disappointed. We have bought these in another size before for my son and this time the top ripped.

Mesh on the top shredded and tore after only a few months of wear.

I purchased these New Balance 680s because I have had a VERY difficult time finding New Balance 888s for my 5 & 3 year old Boys. I could not find 888s with hook & loop closure ANYWHERE. These 680s were terrible. The foam soles are so stiff causing a LOT of “foot slap” for my 5 year old who used to wear orthotics, and for 3 year old as well… who has NEVER had that issue. I was actually disappointed that New Balance made such a terrible sneaker. I thought maybe my Boys needed time to “break them in,” but that was not the case at all. They also never need to “break in” sneakers that fit and function correctly. I think 888s are just perfect all around… wide toe box with great flexibility, sturdy heal (not pinchable), good arch support for developing feet, and velcro to foster independence!! These 680s were NOTHING like those. I hope this is a supply issue and New Balance is not discontinuing the 888s. I wound up with Pediped Force sneakers for both Boys and they function way better and similarly to the NB’s 888s.

My husband and I both of normal width feet and so our toddler does too but the NB shoes are too narrow. I even got them a size bigger so that they'd last an extra season but the pink toe to the left shoe tore open after 2 weeks of wear.

My son has gone through many pairs of the 680v5 and they've been great. Something is wrong with the material they chose for the 680v6. The mesh over the top front of the shoe fell apart within a few weeks. It looks like others have had the same problem. I would avoid these shoes.

Terrible quality. Didn’t even last a month before both shoes has holes in the fabric.

Two months in and this shoe has holes on the side and detached Velcro. Pretty disappointed. Wondering if this is a fake brand of new balance or lesser quality than the actual store. Lasting 2 months is unacceptable....
