The fabric on the shoes started tearing after my son wore them for two weeks.

We like to buy NB for our 7yo son because they tend to fit him well, but this pair just didn’t hold up at all. Within a month the sides of both shoes had torn (see pic). And this wasn’t even a month of heavy wear; he had 3 pairs of shoes in rotation.

I order a lot of stuff online and almost never write reviews (positive or negative) but I need to say that these shoes totally fell apart after less than 30 days of light use (it is the summer so he doesn't even put shoes on most of the time). I mean, you get what you pay for but these crossed the line. Other New Balance kids shoes we have owned fell apart in about 6 months of normal use which is not great but we lived with it because that's about how fast their feet grow anyway. But 30 days? Come on. We'll be trying another brand.

I have 3 kids and they almost always wear NB shoes. This pair is a disaster, though. After 3 months, there are really big holes on both sides of both shoes, and the stitching is coming apart on the front of one, too. My son’s foot still fits in easily, so he hasn’t outgrown them. And he’s 10 years old, so shoes typically fit and last for awhile by this age. these were a big disappointment.

Tore in multiple places in less than 1 month

This is a good looking shoe and fit comfortably, but has fallen apart in only a couple of weeks of use. there are severe hikes on the top mesh near where the pinky toes sit. it is such terrible quality!

We received these on May 16, 2021 and the picture shown are taken June 11, 2021. They have been broken like this for about a week. They lasted less then 1 month. My 7YO has only used them for school and no other shoes of his have ever looked anything like this. Usually he will outgrow them rather than wearing them out. It may be something wrong with the fabric as it seems very brittle and basically just disintegrated on both shoes. As shown from the pictures of the soles, they are barely worn, just for a few weeks.

Bought these for my son about a month ago and they are already falling apart. Disappointed.

Shockingly poor quality. Had holes on both shoes where the mesh fabric met the leather within 2 months. Velcro straps coming apart (Velcro detaching from fabric).

Terrible shoe. It literally fell apart in 3 weeks. It was not made well at all.

Shoes arrived with one tongue completely unattached. It was not sewn to the shoe at all. Very disappointed in the quality.

Big NB fan but these fell apart in one week.

The fit and size are great, but these shoes have been worn for only 3 weeks and have a distinct assembly issue, as they have 4 holes, symmetrically at the point of connection from the front toe guard leather to the mesh. This is not a point of wear and tear, even if the kid is super tough on his shoes. We love new balance because they come in widths and fit so well, but they need to last longer than this!!

MY 6 year old has had these for 6 weeks and BOTH shoes have holes in them! I’m so disappointed- I’ve always had great experiences with New Balance shoes. I’m not sure what happened here.

I can comment on the fit & comfort but what I can say it that they are horribly made. My son wore them for 1 week & they had holes on each side of the sneakers. I contacted new balance but they said I needed to go through the company I bought them from. Never again will I order New Balance.

My son has worn these for 6 weeks and already there are 3 holes in the upper mesh part of the shoes! This has never happened so quickly with any pair of shoes in the past.

My son has worn New Balance for years as his feet are on the wider side and NB offers sizes that accommodate a wider foot. I have always been pleased with their comfort, style, and durability. This pair, however, started to fall apart within two weeks of purchase with no unusual wear. By the four week mark they had four holes in them. Zappos, as always, was wonderful about addressing the problem, but for now I am going to seek out brands other than New Balance for my son’s shoes.

We loved these shoes until they fell apart after only 2 weeks . Zappos refunded our our purchase, but we won’t be buying this brand again.

I must say, I'm very disappointed. In less than three weeks of my kiddo wearing these, they fell apart. You can tell they haven't been abused by looking at the soles, which are practically unworn. Outgrowing them wasn't the cause of these holes, either. There is still plenty of room. We have been faithful new balance buyers for years. They have the support and the wider sizes we need. $50 for a kids shoe that falls apart so fast is upsetting. Is this something I can return?

We received these shoes on March 23 and this pic was taken April 26. After ONE month of wear, these shoes are going in the trash bin, as they are totally falling apart. We usually have better experiences with this brand, so I’m astonished at how poorly this pair held up. Granted my son plays hard, but we can usually get at least 7 or 8 months out of a pair of sneakers. Ugh.

Impossible for 5 year old to get this shoe on and off independently. The part where the bungee velcro strap attaches is very narrow and the child has to be able to lift up the tongue of the shoe in order to properly tighten the velcro strap. The colors are also garish.

for some reason the shoes came in are way to narrow. He tried them Christmas and he could not get them on. I have been buying this style for years this was the first time i have had a problem with NB fit.

These shoes kept falling apart. I had to sew the velcro strip 2 times. Also the toe box. I will not buy these again. I think the hook and loop designs are flawed with poor reinforcement
