Just got the shoes yesterday and ran 13.5 miles this morning in the shoes. Absolutely zero hot spots or pain in my feet which i would have experienced in other brands. The fit is quite different than any other shoe I've worn and slightly awkward at first, but after the first five minutes i didn't notice it at all. These also did not slip/slide around on my foot with normal tension in the laces which is a godsend. If you're a mid foot striker these are the shoes for you. I don't think I'll go back to another brand after wearing these.

The Escalante Racer is an excellent shoe for those that enjoy a low drop neutral shoe with a good feeling for the road with the perfect amount of cushion. The shoe is perfectly light and very breathable. Nothing negative about this shoe...

I have 3 pairs already and wanting to buy a new pair.... WHEN CAN WE GET NEW COLORS???
I have the black already. The blue is ugly.
MORE (GOOD) COLOR OPTIONS PLEASE. I really think your color designs lower your sales.
Take a look at Nike colors for inspiration.

I haven't raced in them yet- but I've used them for tempo/ speed workouts and 20+km runs. I can't say enough good things about these shoes! Looking forward to road HMs and full marathons in these!

This is the only shoe I need. Daily trainer and my racer for every distance 5k to marathon. I've tried the Carbon and the Tempo and they're okay for me, but was surprised to have foot pain I don't get with 26.2 miles in the Escalante Racer. Having heard frightening rumors of this shoe's future in doubt, I've stockpiled several pairs. That way, if it does vanish, I'll have a few years to find another shoe company. I agree with others - don't change a thing, but an orange version would be cool!

Ive been doing CrossFit in minimalist shoes for a while now so these are the 1st running shoes I have purchased in over a decade. They're the perfect balance of cushion and stability! Love em!

Great light weight, zero drop shoe for distance run. The right amount of cushion. I hope they keep this shoe forever. Only road shoe I love. Just need other colors.

I love these shoes! My local running store put me in a pair of Lone Peaks, which totally changed the way I experienced my feet. I wanted to get the Escalante racers too for the roads, though the Lone Peaks weren't bad there to begin with. These have a nice low profile. I will be an Altra customer for life!

Road use for a 6'1" 200lb. I find the shoe helps me maintain a comfortable mid-foot strike and has good road feel. Love the color combo!

I have owned several pairs of Altra's over the last few years and this is by far my new favorite! It feels so snappy when you want to go quick, and took it on a 20mi run for my 2nd run with them.

The perfect running shoe for me. I have slightly wider feet than normal, and I like a low cushion, zero-drop shoe. The increased toe box width allows my toes and forefoot to splay naturally when I run, and the amount and responsiveness of the cushioning is tuned perfectly. There is just enough cushion to make my runs comfortable, but not so much that I lose the feel of the road under my feet. I run shorter distances: between 2 and 4 miles.

On my 3rd pair of these shoes and just love them. The weight is so light. The material just breathes so well. The shoe just feels perfect for my shorter distance and faster workouts. For my body, I think these shoes are best for runs less 13 miles. The other road shoe that I love from Altra is the Vanish Carbon.

I took these out for a 20 miler straight out of the box. The shoes feel great! Super lightweight. Mesh upper. Good feel with the road. Highly recommend!

No matter how much money I've spent on running shoes I've always had to adjust to what I didn't like about them. I honestly didn't think a perfect shoe existed. But this shoe is literally perfect! They felt fast when I pulled them out of the box and they didn't disappoint on the trail. Super lightweight, just enough cushion to not make them clumsy, ultra breathable combined with good looks on a zero drop platform. I'm in love and telling all my friends.

Please never stop making these shoes. The only shoes I have ever had that had both a confortable toe box and a snug heel that doesn't slip. Lightweight and zero drop, and while everyboduy else seems to be in a contest to see how high they can increase stack height, these have a low stack height. Perfect shoe.

These are it. I hope the never change them. I switched to Rivera 2 for a short time and developed left knee pain, took one run in my racers and the pain was gone. The racer is the perfect shoe. I wear them to work as well. Please don't change them, they are pretty much the same since they made their debut. Brilliant shoe.

Road running. When they wear thin, I wear them at work. Best shoe. Minimal but not too minimal. Very light. Highly breathable. Last a long time. Please use the firmer EGO on trail shoes.

Since the early special edition (marathon "tribute") versions, I have had no need for any other shoe. I've tried a few, but nothing else compares to this light weight, extremely well ventilated racer-trainer. This is my daily trainer for everything from recovery to speed work to long runs including racing to 26.2 miles.
Likely best for "normal" to light weight runners who are not heavy heel-strikers, as zero drop favors a mid- to forefoot landing.
Notably, I have put up to 600 miles on a pair, typically replacing at 500 miles. True there was a lot of wear on the lateral aspect at forefoot, but as suggested by another reviewer, the Racer was designed as such, and racing shoes wear out faster.
