This is my first pair of zero-drop, low-stack-height running shoes, and I'm impressed. I ordered both this version and V2, and I have to agree with most reviewers hereV1 is more comfortable. However, the width is too narrow for a size 8 (my regular shoe size), so I had to go with an 8.5. It felt a bit weird at first, but once I got used to it, it became the most comfortable running shoe I've ever worn, especially compared to my high-stack, high-cushion running shoes. I primarily use it for treadmill runs. I hope Altra continues producing V1 and adds more color options. I would definitely buy another pair!

Please make this shoe again! I've been running it for nearly 10 years and probably have purchased 12-15 pairs. This is the best shoe you make.

Make this shoe again please. Please please. How much torture of the next generation shoes that are worse must we bear? Ya the upper is mesh and will deteriorate faster but the lightness that this shoe brings is far superior and worth the shorter life overall.

I went through about 10 pairs of these. Was a great shoe. I am moving away from Altra if they do not offer a proper racer. Stop fixing things that aren't broken.

I have clocked thousands of miles on these shoes, they are natural, light, responsive, and really are the perfect way to train your muscles to running without support and more natural. The other pairs just don't do it for me. PLEASE bring back the Escalante Racer and the Altra spirit.

I have gone through 7 pairs of these - I would have ordered 10 more if I knew these were being discontinued.

Have bought this shoe for my fianc and I two times and would hate to see it discontinued! Love love love this shoe and would like to buy us both a third pair!

Please bring this shoe back! I bought multiple pairs and still wear them, even though they've seen more than their fair share of miles. I bought the Racer 2, but it's not the same. These are the King MTs of road runners... Bring em back!

This is Altra's best running shoe -- perfect combination of breathability, durability, lightness, and support. Please keep making this model for the folks who have been wearing it for many years!

Makes me sad that this blue is leaving production. I wear this show for all distances and prefer it over Riveras. Light and breathable, it's great for treadmills. Responsive for roads. Seriously, don't chamge this one!

Great minimalist shoes! You get the feeling of being barefoot with protection. The mesh breathes very well.

My PB times were all in ORIGINAL Escalante racers, from 5K to marathon distances. By far my favorite shoe. Currently not available in my size (men's 10.5). PLEASE keep selling the original racers!

The best shoe altra has made. It's a shame they try to reinvent the wheel on shoes that do not need to be changed in any way. KEEP SELLING THESE PLEASE

These are just my favorite road shoes. Light, responsive, and I feel agile in them.

Switched to these shoes about 1 year ago and have had zero (repeat ZERO) injuries since. Switching to neutral shoes took some getting used to but there's no going back once you become comfortable with them. Please do not change the original Escalante (V1). Also all the colors are sold out except for smaller sizes. Please restock them.

My favorite! I've gone through several pairs and keep coming back. Keep me injury free for ultra training. Note - they do wear out quick (weighing 220 probably doesn't help :D). Testing the v2 now.

I started wearing these nearly 5 years ago and have run hundreds of miles. i took out the stock insole after the first few months and run without any insole. I have never had any injury wearing these.

Love the feel - I like minimal sneakers with a wide toe box. These fit great. Bought a couple extra pairs because I like this version better than the new version.

I use these for all work outs (running, lifting weights, etc.) and casual wear. Zero drop, wide toe box, and minimal sole are must haves. 3rd pair. Will keep buying as long as they don't change.

My favorite parts are how light it is and how durable it is.

I bought these to serve as a lightweight speed workout shoe and for the handful of road races I'll do this summer and fall. They are beyond expectations! An easy 5 miler turned to a tempo on a whim, and cruised to a 6:00 flat paced 5K during training for a trail ultra. So nice in blue I'm getting the wife a matching pair!

These are great shoes. Light, responsive, zero drop, wide toe box. In other words, all the things Golden Harper was going for when he started the company and the whole reason why people switched to Altra in the first place. Since being bought out, you've let corporate bean counters slowly ruin your brand by trying to follow mass-market baloney like rocker soles and non-zero drop. Even the regular non-racer Escalantes are overly padded and they are listed as "low" padding. You are losing your long time customer base and killing the golden goose. Just slap "Skechers" on the side and be done with it.

I bought ERs as a road shoe in 2017. They had an ideal fit to my feet plus low stack, good road feel, some cushion, great ventilation and light for speed. I loved them from the first run. Bought three pair immediately to defer the "benefits" of upgrades. I've tried Topos, Xeros, others, but for me Escalante Racers are the perfect road shoe. If what I described above sounds appealing, I strongly suggest you try them.
