Love the Caldera trail shoe! I have been running in them for a couple of years now and have gone through the versions 2 & 3 and those were great. I have to say that I have fallen in love even more with the latest model, Caldera 4. Not exactly sure why I like it more than previous models, but the shoe just feels great, lots of good toe box room, love the extended tough and the traction is very solid. I have a wide foot and in other brands have ordered their wide version (HOKA and Saucony), but this shoe has always fit extremely well. I have blown out toe boxes in the past, but never with this shoe. Guessing this is the 4rth or 5th time I have purchased the Caldera trail shoe. Perfect for my local trails in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park. This is such a great shoe that after only about 100-miles in the shoes I already ordered a second pair to have on hand!! GREAT JOB BROOKS!!!!

I absolutely love this shoe. When they described this as an "energizing" shoe I was skeptical of the claim. But if I am being honest, these shoes somehow prevent my calves from being fatigued while running. I really can't explain it, but I like it. I'd highly recommend these shoes due to their "energetic" action.

I regularly buy Brooks Athletic Shoes because I can count on a consistent fit. These Calderas are replacing a pair of Cascadias and I feel they have fixed several of the features of the Cascadias which were not optimal. Hoping these last just as long as my previous pairs of Brooks shoes.

These shoes are great! They provide enough cushion and are of a healthy width that makes trail running, especially long distances, more comfortable.

Not sure what is up with the sizing but I have 10 or more pairs of Brooks in size 10 which fit perfect, when I put these on I thought for sure they must have accidentally sent a 10 1/2, possibly 11. Toe box was way roomy but man they were light and comfy. May re-order in a 9 1/2.

Only worn for a mile or so, comfortable so far, but have yet to really use them as there designed.

I really like the midsole on these shoes. It's responsive and fun, works really nice on the trails for me. I do have the same gripe with previous models in that my foot doesn't feel well seated in this shoe. It's only a problem on super technical trails, and I don't love making fast tight turns in them. Other than that, I do feel like they fit well, lots of room in the toebox and an overall improvement from older versions. I like them for short to mid-range trail runs (under 20 miles).

Only 10 mile total on these shoes since I bought them, so they could end up 5 star. I'm working with tension on the laces to get the proper comfort without allowing heel slip. Makes them a little tight through the arch. I do believe this is a break-in issue and should resolve soon. I've always run in cross-trainers and decided I needed an actual running shoe. These Caldera 4s are so light and flexible compared to cross trainers. I love it. I'm shifting from heel strike running to forefoot strike, and these shoes are helping with that. Much less knee and hip soreness since I've switched.

I just took my new Caldera 3 shoes for a run. I purchased them at REI. You can still get them. I've never had such a comfortable shoe. There have been review complaints about the flat laces. No problem here. As long as the Caldera 4 hasn't seen a big design change, I would recommend trying them.

Good solid shoe for trail running. I have very wide feet and am always worried about shoe fit. While it was a little tight for the first 30 miles while I broke them in, now they fit very nicely. These are definitely trail shoes and not street shoes. Parts of some of my runs go across concrete and I can tell the difference in my feet after using them there. However, once you are on the trails, they are lovely. They aren't stiff or overly heavy like many trail shoes but they provide plenty of grip and protection from uneven terrain. As an amateur and novice trail runner, these work great.

Very comfortable. Looks great. The sole is so tall that it feels less stable - more prone to rolling an ankle. Otherwise very happy with it!

Because the base is more pronounced it tended to exaggerate my pronation and my knees then moved inward. The shoe feels very good otherwise so if you don’t pronate this shoe should be a winner for trail work.

This is a SOFT shoe, and surprisingly flexible, especially if you are used to other trail shoes. Works well for hard pack, but the softness can be a detriment if you're on more single-track rockiness. To my feet they are a looser fit than typical for Brooks.

They are very comfortable and provide a lot of cushioning, much more than the Cascades I've been wearing for years and without the bar that ran in the soul of the Adrenaline GTS pair had I previously that annoyed me to no end. The Calderas do not provide as much stability for my pronation and that's why I only gave them 4 stars instead of 5, as I can run longer now without injuring my body and I recover faster.

Love the update on the tread, the upper and the cush! I have a Morton's neuroma in my left foot and the toebox on the new update aggrivated this a little. Much better after a few runs. This is still my favorite shoe I have ever run in. It works well on the road and is fantastic on the Colorado trails.

The shoe fits great and the cushion is wonderful. I am disappointed that they do not have a notch to attach gaiters in the front. The prior version does and it is very helpful. I am also disappointed with how easily rocks and sand get into the shoe. I ran through a stream and when I came out of the stream I had all kinds of sand and rock down in the shoes. I was even wearing gaiters.

OK, it pains me to write this review. No literally my feet are still in pain! I wanted so badly to like these shoes. I have used them solely for trail shoes, I like the look/style. I like the arch support and the heal is good, but the shoe was WAY TOO tight in forefoot. Now I wear a size 15 D-Medium width shoe. ALL of my MANY, MANY pairs of brooks are Medium width. I was unable to find a balance between keeping my heal snug while trying to loosen up the forefoot enough not to be painful on the medial and lateral aspects of my forefoot. It's like the sides rolled up and curved in right at the forefoot. It was not on the weight bearing surface of the shoes, but it was in both the right and left shoe. I tried them repeatedly, even wearing them for the first 4-5 miles and then doing a shoe change to "try and break them in" per-say. Nothing works, they are in the back of my closet now... Ugh I hate wasting $150!

Overall a very decent shoe with excellent traction on trail. Unfortunately little sloppy/clunky with a lite ankle bang. I have been buying Ghost running shoes for a while. This is my first pair of trail runners. These have a much roomier fit in the forefoot (too roomy). Ankle is solid but I have been getting some ankle bang on downhill sections on the forward side of my ankle bone. Probably would be a better shoe for me a half size smaller to take up some of the slop. I have been using a Brooks 12 for years. If it fit better I might jump it up a star... maybe even two. Really great on rough terrain. Going to try the Cascadia 15. Hopefully I can find a trail shoe I like as much as the Ghost 12.

Generally, a good fit. I have a narrow foot but the shoes seem a tad tight. Otherwise, the sizing is accurate. The tongue is not very padded- quite thin and a bit short,, actually. I like the toe reinforcement and stability. Got the darker blue color and in 2 days they no longer looked new. Sort of dull. Yet, I haven't been in dusty or wet conditions at all. All in all, they are fine but nothing to write home about. Price did not reflect value or incremental improvement.

Please don't get it if you have flat feet. It cut and chafed my ankles and heel giving me a bad scar on both my feet. Otherwise, it does withstand hiking terrain pretty good.

This newer Caldera is a travesty. Brooks has cheapened the material significantly. The tongue at the top of the lacing is a single layer coarse piece of material that has a prominent knot where it meets the inner elastic. It would guarantee a top-of-foot sore within a block. It is a shame as this is an excellent sole design for my often injured knee. Sad too as now I have to find a store(all closed for who knows how long) and try on other shoes.

This shoe was close to what I wanted: wide toe box, plenty of cushion, and low heel-toe drop. However, it seemed the toe box width wasn't enough toward the inside of the shoe. It was like my 1st metatarsal area was a bit cramped. This seems unusual considering how wide the toe box is, and I haven't experienced this with other shoes that have a narrower toe box. Will definitely check out the next version to see if the fit has changed. Thanks for offering this type of shoe - it has great attributes despite not quite working out for me!
