I love Brooks shoes and own several pairs, but these are the most uncomfortable shoes I have ever owned. I had to go up a half size. It feels like I am standing on a wooden plank while wearing them. Mine are definitely not cushioned.

I have been wearing the Brooks Ariel shoes exclusively for many years. This is the first pair that I have ever had that the rubber has peeled back.

This shoe fits okay in the front, but the heel has pressure points and seams that can create blisters.

I loved the Ariel 18. These shoes (Ariel 20) are horrible. I wore them for about 4 hours in my home just walking around, and now, 2 days later, my feet STILL hurt. They rubbed the outside of my right big toe, caused pain in the bottom of both feet, and the ball of my right foot. Luckily I kept my old Ariel's and can wear them until I get a new pair. Sending these back and ordering the Addiction. I have the Adrenaline and Ghost but need a little more support.

I was an advocate for Brooks, told everyone I knew about them. Adrenaline gts was my go to shoe. My toe felt like it was hanging off the side. So I ordered a larger size that didnt help. Thought I'd try Ariel my normal size 9.5 was too little. Had to send em back. Went into the shoe store and heard it wasn't just me complaining. So I ordered a different brand. Thanks!

I was gifted a pair of the Ariel 20 from a friend who works for Brooks. I, being a lifetime ASICS loyalist, decided to give Brooks a try. I was supposed to run 8 miles today and had to stop at 6, take these shoes off and run the last 2 barefoot. When I had the Ariel 20 on my mile times increased by MINUTES. When I took them off and ran barefoot my times went back to usual. I don't know what it is about these shoes, but it feels like they inhibited me from running. It felt like I was dragging a weight behind me. I hope my friend can get their money back.

I really like Brooks athletic shoes. I wear a size 11 ww. However, the Ariel 20 fits a half-size smaller and a little narrower than other Brooks athletic shoes. The color combination is nice. I will exchange for an 11.5 ww.
I'd also recommend:

I dont get many choices because I buy the double wide and 11.5 so usually I have a choice between 2 out of 20 pairs. I was in so much pain after an 8 hour shift that I had to go back to the old beaten up shoes until I bought other ones. Had to be returned.

Why the old Ariel has been changed. My foot specialist recommended those. I loved the old ones they were perfect for my feet. I walk more than 20,000 steps everyday. I have bunions and plantar fasciitis. I loved brooks but now I can't find the perfect shoes from brooks.

These shoes have seams on either side of the heel. The seam puts pressure on the sides of the Achille's tendon. I put on the right shoe and sat for about 5 minutes, watching tv. My heel HURT. I never even stood up, or put the left shoe on, and I knew I could never wear these shoes. Now, I'm having fits getting a return label to send them back. Brooks seems to have gone downhill in quality and service lately. I'm extremely disappointed.

I sent back the shoes. They felt like the weight of a bricks on my feet. It was not comfortable at all. To be fair, my feet have issues and so far TOPO are the only shoes that work for me.

I bought this shoe in a size 8.5 for my bunion! The bunion still hurts and so does the shoe!

I shipped them because they were too small, but honestly the shoe has changed for the worst. I use to be a huge Brooks fan. I'm total ASICS now. It's too bad.

Narrow and shallow toe box , squishy and non supportive sole. What happened to the Ariel? It used to be for thick, wide, over pronating l troubled feet. Horrible! Orthotics don't sit right in them either. Return!

These are/were not the Ariel sneaker I remember from days gone by. They lacks support. I sent them back immediately after trying them on.

Do not buy these if you?re expecting them to fit like the good old days with the Brooks aerials!!

Not my best fit. I love the Adrenaline but wanted to try a shoe with more cushion, but they run a tiny bit shorter, due I'm sue to the shape of the toe box. I'm sticking with the new 22 Adrenalines!

There's something flimsy and cheap about this iteration of the Ariel. I think this will be my last pair. Given the cost, I expect more durability and support.

I have been in Brooks Ariels for a very long time and this is the first time I hate the shoe. First of all, they squeak CONSTANTLY. I teach and I can no longer walk around the room while they are working quietly because I sound like old creaky floorboards. Do not like the lighter laces; they are harder to untie and loosen in the eyelets. And I have never had foot pain with any other Ariel but all of a sudden, with this new model, my big toe hurts. I am not sure if my foot is sliding forward, but I have never had this issue before. I paid a lot of money for foot pain. I can not wait for these to wear out. I will be looking for another running shoe. It is too bad because I have been so happy with my Ariels till now: even when I had to wait 4 months for them to come in at Westchester Road Runner.
