Overall, a comfortable shoe with good motion control for a very flat footed runner. The heel cup is a little more shallow then previous versions of this shoe, which took some getting used to. The shoelaces are oddly stretchy and required some relacing and retying to get the best fit.

Prefer the older style Brooks Ariel, better structure to heel cup. New style has less support especially if orthotic raises heel slightly. New style also does not seem to hold up as well, wears thru at 1st toe.

After total knee replacement this shoe was perfect after I added a Dr. Scholl's float on air insole.

I purchased these on the advice of my podiatrist to help with arch support. The shoes were stiff at first, but after wearing consistently my feet felt good and the arch support has significantly reduced my foot pain.

Very sturdy shoe and fairly comfortable to support my extra wide width feet. The only down side is the shoe doesn't keep my left heel snug enough, so there's very minor slippage and that is slightly annoying.

Could use a little more toe room; otherwise, fit is great. Material is comfortable. Like the looks.

Very comfortable and supportive but the heel always wants to fold down when I put them on.

This is the second pair of this style that I have purchased. I wear them for exercising and walking. They are very comfortable and supportive from the first time I put them on. My only concern was that the back heel portion feels like it collapses a bit when I put the shoe on, but the pair I bought six months ago has held up well in this regard to I guess it is fine.

zappos just sent me an email asking how the shoes fit so they can make recommendations. There's no way to make recommendations. The sizing is insanely inconsistent. this pair, finally, did fit well, but over the past months I bought and returned from zappos and elsewhere Ariel's in the same size and width. 2 were way too narrow. 2 were too wide. one was too short. one was too long. one fit and now it looks like these will fit so i'm set for a while until these wear out, which they do rather quickly. I've learned to wear them around the house for a day before wearing them outside so I can return them if necessary. But when they do fit, they're the only shoes i can walk in. so I'm still looking so i can have backups. Don't believe any size recommendations. It's a crap shoot.

My normal shoe size is 8 medium. Due to flat feet, I've been wearing Ariel's for many years and I usually size up to 8.5 medium. However, I had to get size 9 medium when I purchased 2 pairs of Ariel 16s. I did not get the Ariel 18s so I don't know if the sizing changed but it was time to replace the Ariel 16s. I was checking the Brooks website frequently because the website was sold out in my size. In early March 2022, I ordered the Ariel 20 in size 9 medium but found it was too big, so it got returned. I then quickly ordered Ariel 20 in size 8.5 medium in black/blue and this size was a perfect fit. I primarily use the Ariel 20 for 3 mile walks every other day and the comfort is great. I liked the black/blue Ariel 20 so much that I tried to order another pair. But Brooks Running is having supply chain issues and the website was sold out. The Brooks customer service rep recommended I try the Addiction GTS 15 and also suggested the Fleet Feet website for Ariel 20s. I ordered the Addiction GTS 15 but returned it because there was not enough arch support for my flat feet. I was able to order a 2nd pair of Ariel 20s in size 8.5 medium in oyster/grape from the Fleet Feet website. Overall: 5 stars for the Ariel 20 for fit, sizing and color (love the black shoe); 1 star for supply chain problems (recommend that you check the Brooks site frequently for your size).

I have been wearing the sneaker for at least six years and I wear them daily after having Planters fasciitis and a bone spur in one of my feet. I what are the pair last month that I thought were black but they ended up being navy so I think Ill just order another pair or two since I dont know when these are going to be discontinued and I just read the reviews on the new model 23 and didnt find them favorable. Its too bad when they change a style too much that its not consistent with the last model comfort wise. When will this model go out of stock because if its soon Ill probably buy another two pairs since they are on sale . Nothing worse than having a shoe you depend on going out of stock.

I've been wearing the Ariel since 2011 or 2012. While the support seems to still the be there the cushioning seems to be lacking. The shoe sole also feels more rounded. I don't feel like I'm standing flat. It feels like it takes more balance than prior models Also the shoe doesn't seem as sturdy. I don't why they cost so much when there is so little material, especially compared to years prior. I will still buy these though as they are the only shoe that helps keep my pain to a minimum

I only use Brooks, and wear an OTC arch support insert so I take the Brooks insert out. I ordered many pairs to try as my current pair was slowly wearing out. The support of this was nice, good structure to the shoe. I would say the toe box is very wide so it would be great for folks that need that. I felt it was a touch shorter than all the others of the same size. For those reasons, I chose a different style.

I normally wear size 6, I ordered size 6 1/2 and they fit. Roomy toe box for a bunion without looking too wide. There is arch support, but not enough for my high arches so I am returning the shoes.

I normally wear a size 6 or 6.5. I ordered 6.5 and the fit was good. The shoe is comfortable on my right foot that overpronates but the heel slips on my left foot which tends to be more neutral. I have high arches and believe I would prefer a Brooks shoe with more arch support than the Ariel offers. I will be returning the Ariels for another Brooks shoe. The quality of materials feels good. Toe box is comfortable for a bunion.

I have been a Brooks fan for many many years. The Ariel 20 is very comfortable and provides good support. Unfortunately the quality is not what it use to be. After six months the side of the shoe needs to be glued. I have to do this about every 2 weeks.

These shoes are very comfortable and fit perfectly. I have plantar fasciitis and nearly flat feet, so I need shoes that support me and provide comfort. Only thing I wish is that the insole was a little harder to maintain the pressure I need on my arch. After about a year, the insole looses it's form (I have bought other Brooks and this happened). Other than that - freaking great shoe

This is my 6th pair of Brooks Ariel, and I've always been extremely satisfied with each pair. However, the Ariel '20 has been disappointing. I've had them a year, and I find myself going back to older pairs because these are not as comfortable. My toes ride a little too close to the tip, and my heel is difficult to put into the shoe without a shoehorn; the shoe heel rolls. After reading others' reviews, I discovered I am not the only one with this opinion. I wear the shoes, but my feet ache a bit after a full day because of the snug fit. I look forward to Ariel 22, if they make a newer model, and hope the fit will be more like older versions. Ariel 16 was my personal favorite.

I was recently diagnosed with some issues on the bottom of my foot so I need lots of cushion on the bottom of the shoe which this Ariel 20 succeeded in. I purchased a few other name brands that supposedly had plenty of cushion but I still felt pain on the bottom of my foot. This is the only sneaker so far that really I can walk in and not feel discomfort. Ariel definitely runs small. I am usually a size 7 whereas I had to go into a 7 1/2 wide to accommodate my foot. The only negative thing I found about this sneaker is that the toe area dents in after you wear it . The toe area dented in the first day. If you have the right size shoe the dent does not interfere with anything. I had originally ordered a size 7 wide and I could feel the dent in my foot so that is why I went into a 7 1/2 wide.
I'd also recommend:
Due to my foot issue this is the only brand so far that is helping me

This is my third Brooks Ariel 20 pair. Other than "breaking in" the newness, this pair meets my expectations regarding fit and comfort. I love this shoe, however, the sole on my last pair has separated from the toe area after only 6 months. (I am 85 and use a walker, so my shoes receive minimal use compared to "runners".) The Brooks guarantee has lapsed. (They were purchased at a local shoe store.) I'm hoping this pair will last much longer.
I'd also recommend:
At this time I prefer only the Brooks Ariel 20 - recommended by my podiatrist.
