I was really concerned about the design change from '18 to '20 model. But, these are a better shoe, at least initially. Much lighter but with good padding and foot steadying mechanics. The other shoes are as twice as heavy The new models are really comfortable and featherweight compared to the predecessor. I do worry that this Beast is so much lighter in materials that it won't stand up to the pounding that we big people put on them when out running. My last pair of 18's lasted about 4.5 months before it became noticeable how much punishment I was inflicting on calves, shins and ankles. At $160+, if these things don't hold up a half year, I'll have to go searching for something else. So basically, I'm praying these feel as good in a few months as they do now. They are sturdy, comfortably and with far less armor on them. My initial runs make wearing them a dream, but I'm skeptical they'll last.
I'd also recommend:
Beast 18's

i have foot issues and have tried many different shoes.yours are the most comfortable, the only ones i can wear that minimize my foot pain.the only problem i have is i only get 6-8 months out of each pair.for the price you charge the quality should be a lot better than it is.see enclosed photos

Bought brooks beast for years, seems like the best one were brooks beast 18 for quality, the 20’s have a cheap feeling, Time will tell. Don’t like the new colors, but it’s ok I’m not going to stop buying them the are the best shoes, little pricey, but worth the money.

Replaced a Brooks competitor shoe with the beast. The beast is very supportive and more comfortable. I am recovering from a foot injury. Thanks in part to the comfort and stability (Motion control) of the beast. Thank you

The lateral side impinges a little on the pinkie toe. I?ve been wearing the Beast for several years. The older models did not seem to annoy the little toe. The heel fit and the stability is terrific.

Like many others, I have had several years of Beasts and most have been great. The 16s toe box was too small and the ankle collar on the 18s snagged and ran way too easily. The 20s are definitely lighter yet just as or even more supportive. Quite a bit of cushion as well. As a big person, they will be extremely functional for me. From a styling and wear perspective I have a few thoughts. The exterior front toe area went from a rugged rubbery component on the 18s to a nylon like material on the 20s. I hope this holds up. The ankle collar seems to be improved with a more durable fabric. I would prefer less white on a black shoe, but that seems to be a trend. Two things I would have definitely changed with the styling is the "Beast" print in the white part of the shoe. I don't mind you advertising Brooks, but why the Beast? Finally, why the big 20 on the back, I can't get over the feeling that they are bowling shoes. (Note: I purchased 15s the list below only went up to 12.5)

Too small for me... The back of the shoe was collapsing in and I could feel one of the back seams rubbing the back of my foot.

Not much cushion, but good for stability. Laces are short, had to buy longer ones.

These "running" shoes felt and looked like an orthopedic shoes, but my feet didn't feel comfortable. Besides they felt about half size smaller.

For the past 5 years I have been wearing the Adrensline GTS 20 sneakers, and I love them, best shoe I have ever worn, however, they were not available so I purchased the Beast 20, which I thought would be similar, but the Beast soles are much harder and I can feel them, also they are noisy, and the backs of the sneakers are cumbersome and collapse easily, you need a shoe horn to slide into them. I won't buy another pair of the Beast, and I hope the Adrenaline GTS 20 design comes back and is available in the future.

This is my second pair of Beast '20 and my 11th pair of Beasts since my surgeries. I started to read about changes that were made to the best shoe on the planet and the changes I have felt. The shoe seems a bit shorter and has not lasted as long as the past Beasts. Maybe I should send these back and try the '23?

Great build quality and attention to detail (typical Brooks), but it's not the Beast it used to be. The outer edge of the footbed by the heel seems too high, causing pronation. I wore the Beast for years to help with pronation, tried another brand for a while, and came back, but Brooks has made changes in this model that have led to pronation and leg pain for me.

Disappointed the sides of the shoes are already experiencing wear and are torn by the ankles on both shoes. Previous pairs lasted much longer

Compared Beast 20 to Beast GTS 23. I wear prescription orthotics. I found Beast 20 more comfortable than Beast GTS 23 specifically in upper top foot area near big toe. Sadly Beast 20 in 4E size 13 is no longer in production.

Worried about the change in support from a medial post to guide rails, I purchased a pair of Addiction GTS 15 from Brooks so I could try them out for 90 days. After wearing the Addiction GTS 15 for a few weeks, I had issues with my ankle. I blamed it on other shoes but found that it got worse when I wore the Addictions exclusively. Each step was painful despite wearing an ankle brace. I went back to wearing my Addiction 13s with the ankle brace and was able to walk with little to no discomfort. Diagnosed with an inflamed ligament. Since I didn't turn my ankle or anything else that would explain it, I believe the new support design doesn't work for me. Since the Beast has guide rails too, returning them as well. Fortunately, I have one new pair of Addiction 13s left but looks like I'll have to find another brand if the suede Addiction walkers (still have a medial post) wear out as soon as some reviews indicate.

We purchased these based on a friend recommendation for my husbands plantar issues. They were great for a few wears and we were hopeful, but it didn't last long. We added some memory foam inserts and now he can wear them pain free for a few hours. Wish I had listened to the other review that said they aren't what they used to be. It was a big investment for "meh" results.
