The beast is the shoe I always buy due to my plantar fasciitis, flat feet & pronation. It's great for keeping my feet aligned & reduces pain. Unfortunately, the last 6-7 pair that I've bought had holes come in them around the collar. I hope the Beast '20 has corrected that defect!

I ordered a half size down as many suggested it was to snug. More streamlined than prior beast. Too soon to judge performance.

I don?t run. I have been purchasing the Beast for many years, and they fit my feet well and are very comfortable.

Comfortable and supportive. I like the understated design. Wish the laces were easier to adjust. I've been wearing Beasts for 15+ years.

The only thing I don't like is the thinner laces. The Beast 18 I have use a thicker lace that is easier to tie.

Shoes feel great. I just wish they had better colors. The 18s had better colors

I've been running with the Beast for years. I love the Beast since I have severe overpronation. The new '20 model slightly feels lighter, which I liked at first. I think to make these lighter, some of the strength and support was sacrificed. They still felt good when new, but seemed to wear out more quickly than the previous models.

Great shoe for walking ,second pair I have owned. Thought the laces were a little stingy for the Beast Over all I would recommed them again

Needs better insoles that support the middle of your foot but otherwise they help so much with pain from standing and walking all day! My feet are able to repair themselves while wearing these, absorbs the pressure off of those hard standing spots well just shift your weight occasionally and happy feet.

Great shoe for pronation but for some reason it does not feel as supportive as the older iteration. Still the best choice for people with pronation.

I have severe pes planus (flat foot, left). The Beast 20 does an excellent job of stabilizing my excessive pronation and gait biomechanics. The only drawback is mild plantar fascia irritation after eight to ten hours of continuous wear due to pronation control in the mid and forefoot design of the shoe. The Beast 20' is more comfortable than a previous model Beast from 2017 which had much more aggressive pronation control in the shank which caused medial arch irritation after only one to two hours of continuous wear.

I do not run. I have severe plantar faciitis in both feet to the point I cannot walk on a bare floor. My podiatry doctor recommended Brooks for support of the arch in my feet while walking. I originally had the standard Beast and now the Beast 20; both the grey The 20 seems to have more heel support. I have found the black vs the gray seem to have some variation in the toe box, which does not make sense just because of the color. Of all the different Brooks shoes, the Beast has the best support for fallen arches. Tried other brands advertising arch support but set them back for a refund. I also have bunions and so require the 4EE width. The insert and the side support seem to wear out about 3 months and I buy another pair. This last time I bought two pair so I would have one ready. I am a real estate appraiser and as such go up and down many sets of stairs in the course of a week. If Brooks has a shoe which gives more of the arch and side support I have not found it, with the 4EE width. I hope folks that need a shoe for foot medical reasons similar to mine feel comfortable trying this Brooks Beast model. I recommend the Beast.

Likes:Same great sole cushioning, comfortable lining. Dislikes:Concerns about shoe rear, ankle cushioning band irritating the Achilles' tendon, styling needs to 'man up', they are beginning to look like bedroom slippers, more color choices would be nice.

I've shoe is narrow compared to 18. I tried the Wide but just didn't fit my foot. It is well built shoe but had to change.

I have worn Brooks running shoes for a loooong time. Unfortunately, Brooks cannot resist tweaking a good shoe model and making it worse. The Brooks Beast is one of those models that Brooks has changed for the worse in some years and then for the better in other years. The Brooks Beast 20 runs too short in this model year. Also, the Beast 20 shoe last has been tweaked and is slightly curved. Even in the EE, there is no room in the toe box. Traditionally, the Beast was the best choice for the heavier runner - straight last, great support, roomy toe box, great heal cup. But unfortunately, Brooks has been hit and miss on this mark for the last decade. The Brooks Addiction has been much better over the same time period, but I notice that the shoe last (the foundation and sole on which the shoe is built) is now curved on the Addiction so the fit might be compromised now for the traditional Brooks Addiction buyer. Over the past few years. I have found that the Brooks Ghost model fits my foot much better - straighter last, good arch, great toe room. great heal fit. But the Ghost is not as sturdy as the traditional Beast or Addiction so the Ghost will break down faster for the heavier runner.
I'd also recommend:
Brooks Ghost, New Balance.

Second Pair. Comfortable and supportive even with my orthodox. Good walking shoe around town, up hills, steps and more, too.

Like the fit and updated look. It's the Beast but does not half to look like it. Very comfortable. Don't know durability because I have not had it long enough. Reason rated 4 instead of 5. Little concerned about mesh toe that was not reinforced. Time will tell.

I would like to see Brooks keep the 18 and still have the 20 or discontinue the Addition 14, and replace it with the Beast 18. As a 60 plus years old short stocky male the Beast 18 just feels more sturdy overall. I have been using the Beast for running, weightlifting and walking for the last 15 years. Approximately 7-10 years ago Brooks switched to a less sturdy shoe for about a year or two and then returned to the more sturdy version.

Purchased these for my husband and he like them. He likes the black on white color and the cushion to keep his feet happy.
