I have worn the Kahana series for years and loved it. Unfortunately, it looks like it is going away. The GT-2000 8 Trail is about as close as I could get. The fit is like the Kahana, with great support, good cushioning in the insole, snug overall fit. I have a wider forefoot and this feels like the Kahana. The tread on the outsole is grippy, but not quite as aggressive as the Kahana. I think it will do well for me since the majority of the time I am not hiking rocky trails. I like the style. We'll see how it does on rocky trails, but so far, I am happy with it.

Great looking shoe in a very hard size to find. I like them so much that I bought an extra pair.

Fit and size are both excellent. The shoes are very comfortable to wear around the house as I get used to them. I am about 5-months post-op from knee replacement surgery and trying to walk 3+ miles per day. Whether there is a different pronation or greater shoe stiffness or something else, I have considerably more knee discomfort after a walk in these shoes than my "broken in" Asics GT-2000 7's. I'm sure it will get better as my knee improves and the shoes get broken in.
I'd also recommend:

Prompt delivery and the fit was good. I put in a lot of miles every week and ASICS have always been comfortable and lasted well.

Great shoes, my consistent go to - the trail running ones really hold up too, way better than the standard.

They are great shoes, very comfortable. I like the stretch laces for when your feet swell if you're on them all day. The sole is a bit stiff but I like it that way. As for durability, can't say just yet. But if they're like my other Asics pairs they will be just fine. I would definitely recommend these to anybody.

I'm a top-heavy runner with flat feet. I love running trails and hiking which I use these for. Very good sneaker tread. I beat up sneakers. I really like the durability of ASICS.

I have one severely flat foot. Overpronation. With your shoe my chronically swelling ankle isn't. Thank you.

I am a 60+ age trail runner, used the GT-2000-7 last year found it to be a great stable, cushioning shoe. Got he 2008 and found it to be even better! Will continue to train in these shoes!

This trail shoe is absolutely gorgeous to look at. Tread is cut differently than the regular version of GT-2000 8, to give it "teeth." It works well & grips the ground as you walk/run. Lots of gel & arch support for a comfortable ride. Recommended.

Good, comfortable fit for a lightweight trail shoe modeled on the popular Gel 2000-8. The real difference is the sole which is sturdy and rugged enough for basic trail running. This is not a heavy-duty trail shoe for some of those ugly, rocky, wet trails, but it's a solid shoe for off-road running (and walking).

I have been using ASICS shoes for nearly 15 years and the GT series has always served me well, especially the 2000 series. I purchased the Trail version of the 2000-8 as both my wife and I have been running into durability issues with the soles as the GT has become a lighter shoe. I am a four mile a day fitness walker and interval runner and these shoes and was consistently getting only 200 miles out of the soles. The trail series seems to have a different compounding in the sole lugs which holds up better on all surfaces, especially concrete of all things. Combine that with adequate cushioning, motion control, lightweight and a great fit and these are a top notch shoe for everyday running/ walking.

Very comfortable shoes. I do short recreational running 2-4 miles at a time and they fit like a glove and don't feel any impact. I get stability shoes due issues from a broken leg years ago and they work perfectly.

An amazing shoe for light trail running, great stability, and a color way I don't often see in Men's selection, but it's really of of the best since the Black / Rich Gold GT-2000 7's

I should probably try other shoes from ASICS but the GT-2000 has worked so well for me as I'm now on my third pair. I can wear these for 500+ miles.
